Attachment The Summer Skye skin is based on "Ava", a fan-made concept by artist NolloBandz. Ava was created as a tribute to other fan-made concepts that were added to the game, including but not limited to:

• Aura's coin pouch and Pinkie's mask (both characters made by artist Fantasyfull).
• Rapscallion's striped sleeve (made by artist RexSadio).
• Dark Rex's sleeve (another character made by NolloBandz).
• Boxy's cardboard parts, Angler fish tattoo, and Cozy Chomps' shark slippers (both characters made by artist sharktoofs1 who would later design some official Fortnite skins).
• Meowscles, which is an exception to the fan-made content in the design; he is actually an original creation by Epic Games, although he is based on a different fan concept by RexSadio.

The remaining confirmed fan community references as described in the original Ava artwork Reddit thread whose creators are currently unidentified in this submission are as follows:

• Kneecaps-the box guys
• Gold sack and the small gold patch on the pants-aura and guild
• Minty stuff
• Tender defender on the shield

Attachment In a 2011 Nintendo Dream interview with the development staff of Star Fox 64 3D, Yusuke Amano joked that a future Star Fox game could be a dating simulator:

Dylan: Mr. Miyamoto often says that "Star Fox is not a predetermined game, but a world that aims to explore new ways to play."

I see. So, he is using Star Fox to explore new ways of playing.

Dylan: Yes. Although it was never released, when we were making "2" (later included in the Nintendo Classic Mini Super Nintendo Entertainment System), we really experimented with a lot of things, like the way 3D space works. That was the case with 'Command' as well, and it's what makes this series so unique and interesting. You know, in other series, you make the same thing with a few new elements. But with 'Star Fox,' the systems are completely different in "Adventures" and "Assault".

Amano: So maybe the next one will be a romance game.

Everyone: (laughs)

Dylan: But that would be fun.

Imamura: Even Tingle became a romance game (laughs).

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties

In a promotional video by Limited Run Games for the game's re-release on modern consoles, various staff members noted how difficult it is to give people a reason to buy what is considered one of the worst video games ever made. To that end, they wished to help "re-contextualize" the game, making it available to a modern audience in order to satiate their inherent curiosity about the game. They also argued that the game was historically important, due to representing "something that was really unusual for the console space".

It was also noted that there was a strong argument that the preservation of the worst games ever made was just as important as the best games ever made, with the more "experimental" efforts being more interesting to look back on than something that was good. The game is noted to give a "slice of life" of what the game market was like at the time, being described as a "time capsule" of the era.

Attachment Iroha Nijiue's design was heavily inspired by Kise Yayoi from the anime series "Smile PreCure!", as LINUJ had been inspired to create original characters similar to his favorite characters in other media. When the game first began, LINUJ thought this was easy to notice due to lack of development. Iroha's crybaby personality was one of the aforementioned similarities to Kise. Her first design was directly based on Kise, but with certain changes to make her design her own. LINUJ later redesigned Iroha when coming up with ideas for the story, before Void was officially created. At the time, Iroha wore a pair of boots instead of shoes, and her skirt had a different pattern that was removed later on. When more of the story was created, LINUJ began to start the process of redesigning Iroha, as well as many other characters, coming up with a design that was closer to what her finalized design was: the only difference before she received her final design was the pattern on her socks.

LINUJ has stated that Iroha is his favorite character from the series, but had attempted to be as unbiased as possible with her involvement and fate. During Chapters 3 and 4 specifically, LINUJ began to have more fun when writing the dialogue for her during the later part of the series and eventually reached a point where he didn't think much about what she was saying, as Iroha "doesn't think about what she's saying" from his perspective. He also worried that many people wouldn't like her, but was surprised when she later began to gain popularity in the Korean and Western fandoms.
Plumbers Don't Wear Ties

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties was initially rather obscure due to the only known version being available for years being the 3D0 version. However, it eventually gained widespread attention after YouTuber James Rolfe reviewed the game as part of his webseries "The Angry Video Game Nerd". This eventually led to the game's PC version, which was originally considered lost media, to be unearthed years later in the library of Ball State University in Indiana.

Attachment In 2019, UK bargain store Aldi attempted a publicity stunt known as the "Teatime Takedown", where parents would send Aldi their childrens' usernames on gaming platforms (with the service being provided for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles, and unusually the streaming platform Twitch) and the supermarket would send professional gamers to defeat the child in-game so they would eat their food, though Aldi claimed that the effectiveness of the program may vary. Despite a released commercial for the campaign showing children "rage quitting" FPS games, the hired eSports teams, originating from Veloce, specialized in racing games. This sparked massive backlash within the UK eSports community, to the point where Resolve eSports offered to send its players to help kids fight back against the bullies. Aldi would eventually cancel the campaign and send coupons to those who complained as a form of apology. Print adverts were made, but are not known to have been printed in any magazines or catalogues, and radio and till reciept ads were planned.

Attachment High Boo's Thought Peek quote, "*sigh* ♪Stomp, stomp, clap. Stomp, stomp, clap.♪", references the 1977 song "We Will Rock You" by English glam rock band Queen. It has been claimed in interviews that the name "PaRappa" is a pun on "parappa", a supposed Japanese word meaning "flat" or "paper-thin", and the English word "rapper". This appears to be a slight mistranslation, as the word "parappa" does not exist within Japanese, but the word "パラパラ" (para para) seems to be a more likely origin, a Japanese term for flipping through a book, which would have flat pages. The term is also used for a Japanese form of disco dancing, which could also be seen as part of a pun, given that the series takes influence from a lot of different genres as opposed to just rap, with PaRappa the Rapper 2 having a noticeable disco influence.

There are two instances in the history of Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comics where writers had attempted to write a same-sex relationship for characters originally created for the 1993 animated series that the comic was based on.

On October 30, 2009, former writer Ken Penders revealed that he had intended for the character Rotor the Walrus to be gay, stating:

"I thought it was fairly obvious Rotor was gay, and begun laying the groundwork for that storyline during the MOBIUS: 25 YEARS LATER segments. I even showed his life partner without saying as such and planted clues between the lines."

It would later be stated that Rotor's "life partner" was Cobar, an Echidna scientist who only ever appeared during the MOBIUS: 25 YEARS LATER storyline. According to technical advisor Robert Repas (speaking on behalf of Penders), Sega feared backlash over the relationship, and thus ordered him to keep the relationship low-key, only allowing subtle hints, though Penders later clarified that it was likely then-editor Justin Freddy Gabrie that he had spoken with and not Sega. At the same time, this relationship has been critcized by fans for its lack of subtextual evidence, which was not helped by Penders only revealing it years after the fact. According to later writer Ian Flynn as part of a Q&A wrap-up, Rotor and Cobar's relationship is considered a piece of behind-the-scenes trivia and is not canon to the current Sonic timeline as, according to him, there had been no canonical build-up to Rotor's sexual preference regardless of intention.

However, Flynn would be involved in the second instance of trying to write in a same-sex relationship. In the first episode of the BumbleKast from October 5, 2015, he stated:

"I would dare say that if you go through the book since the reboot, you could probably make a case for [Sally Acorn and Nicole the Holo-Lynx being in a romantic relationship]."

Shortly after the comic's cancellation, Flynn would confirm that he and his wife/fellow writer Aleah Baker had written subtle details hinting at this romance into the comic. He initially described these details as "blatant", but retracted it for "subtle", implying that there were some internal/editorial considerations at play for how far they could go with the hints. During the same BumbleKast episode, he also revealed that part of the reason why Sally and Nicole's relationship was made subtle was due to potential backlash from the Sonic fandom, as Sally had been commonly depicted as Sonic's girlfriend and love interest up to that point. One of Sega's mandates for the comic near the end of its run was that game characters like Sonic were not allowed to enter serious relationships, meaning Sonic would not be allowed to commit to Sally in the comic's reboot.
