The Mysterious Murasame Castle
2
Attachment In the original game, the screen flashes black, red, and white when the thunder strikes the title screen. The Virtual Console release changes this to a single slower pink flash, as part of the Nintendo re-release tradition of lessening the chance of causing epileptic seizures.
Yoshi
2
Attachment The Game Boy version of Yoshi has an unused Bullet Bill piece. It is not present in the NES version.

Um Jammer Lammy
subdirectory_arrow_right Um Jammer Lammy Now (Game)
1
Attachment In the original Japanese and European versions, Paul Chuck's song had a line about "chopping trees down for fun". In the US, this was changed to "Knowing that we're here for the fun" in Lammy's song, and changed two times due to being repeated in PaRappa's version: "Rockin' to the beat just for fun" and "Rollin' up high in the sun". The censored version is used in Um Jammer Lammy NOW.

Um Jammer Lammy
subdirectory_arrow_right Um Jammer Lammy Now (Game)
1
Stage 1 of Um Jammer Lammy was incomplete in the original PlayStation version, not being accessible in either multiplayer or PaRappa's story. With a GameShark code, a US player can access an unfinished version of PaRappa's stage 1, which has no animations and only uses triangle buttons. Stage 1 would eventually be finished for Um Jammer Lammy NOW!, released 9 months after the PlayStation version, with Rammy and PaRappa support.

Stage 1 is the only PaRappa stage to use the instrumental of the Lammy version.
Zoop
1
Attachment Print adverts for Zoop give the pieces in the game their own names:

• The olive-shaped green piece is called "Ganggreenus"
• The martini-glass-shaped purple piece is called "Martinicocki"
• The boomerang-shaped blue piece is called "Infectococci"
• The baby's-dummy-shaped orange piece is called "Lockjawbacilli"
• The yellow splat-shaped piece, used as a power-up in the game, is called "Fungusamungus"
• A spiral-shaped piece, not present in the game but resembling the spring power-ups, is called "Mosquitick"

It should be noted that the splat and spring pieces are given different names in the game's manual: "Color Bomb" and "Bonus Spring" respectively.

The patterned square pieces from the Game Boy version of the game do not have names.

Suikoden II
1
Attachment According to Raww Le Klueze, global admin of the Suikosource forums, there are three unused sprites found in the PC version that appear to be part of an unused Blue Gate summon or something similar. The three sprites are supposed to appear in different spots on the screen which would explain why they are looking in different directions.

To support that idea, in the Gensou Suikoden II 108 Stars Character Guide (published only in Japan by Konami), within a section detailing a scrapped idea to summon spirits of other elements, there are a few characters resembling the three unused sprites if they were mixed together.

Disney's Tigger's Honey Hunt
1
In 2002, the PlayStation version of Tigger's Honey Hunt was rereleased under a new US publisher, Take-Two Interactive. However, the only difference is that the game's voice acting was removed, making it match its Nintendo 64 version which originally released without voice acting.
PaRappa the Rapper
1
In the US PSP and PS4 versions of PaRappa the Rapper, PJ Berri and Katy Kat's Chunky Burger orders in the intro are censored - in the PS1 version they ask for a "giant vanilla frosty" and a "large chocolate frosty" respectively, but in the remastered version they instead ask for a "giant vanilla" and "large chocolate". The subtitles for PJ's order completely omit any drink from his order. This is due to "Frosty" (in the context of a drink) being trademarked by Wendy's. Despite this copyright issue, the claim from Katy Kat that Jet Baby could defeat Superman goes uncensored.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
subdirectory_arrow_right Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX (Game)
1
In the Japanese version of Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Alex eats a rice ball at the end of each stage. The 1990 US revision of the game changes this to a hamburger.

In Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX, a Spanish omelette and fish & chips are added as options, possibly in tribute to the Master System's popularity in Spain and the United Kingdom.

2
Attachment Contrary to popular belief, the Janken battles in Alex Kidd in Miracle World are not RNG-based, but instead always have a set winning move.

•Stone-Head: Rock, Scissors
•Scissor-Head: Scissors, Paper
•Paper-Head: Rock, Scissors
•Stone-Head Rematch: Rock, Scissors
•Scissor-Head Rematch: Rock, Rock
•Paper-Head Rematch: Rock, Scissors
•Janken the Great: Paper, Paper

If you incorrectly answer, that will change the answers from that point on.

In the Sega Ages release of the game for Nintendo Switch, one of the game's borders has the correct Janken moves on the top and bottom.

Hell's Kitchen: The Game
2
Hell's Kitchen censors the profanity that made its source material famous - developer Ludia temporarily provided a more vulgar version of the PC game on its website as a limited time release, which was timed to be taken down following the finale of Season 4.

Talking Tom Cat
1
The pro version of Talking Tom Cat has an anti-piracy feature - if the game detects that it was pirated, Tom's voice will be so fast that it cannot be comprehended. The free and 2.0 versions of the game do not have this feature.
Pac-Land
subdirectory_arrow_right Pac-Man Museum+ (Game)
1
Attachment The wheels on the ghost cars in Pac-Land feature a Manji, a symbol used in Buddhism to represent eternal cycling. In the Pac-Man Museum+ version of Pac-Land, the wheel design was changed to avoid resemblances to modern Swastikas associated with Nazism.
Mario Bros.

Mario Bros. was intentionally designed to be less graphically intensive than other games coming out at the same point so its Famicom conversion would seem more authentic to the arcade version.

On October 12, 2023, Running With Scissors announced on the "I Regret Nothing Podcast" that the game had received some DEPOS updates to fix the issues keeping the game from being playable, and would be added back on Steam at a later date with some additional fixes from the ZOOM Platform version of the game.
