After making only three games (Moon: Remix RPG Adventure, UFO: A Day in the Life, and L.O.L.: Lack of Love), Love-de-Lic folded in 2000, with many of its staff members going on to work for other companies. These include:

• Skip Ltd., a company with a close relationship to Nintendo, who published all their Japanese releases (with the exception of LOL, which was published by Skip themselves). They eventually changed their name to Skip Inc. and became inactive on social media, leading to reports that the company had gone defunct, something that was ultimately confirmed true by former employee Hiroshi Moriyama on Twitter in March 2024.
• Vanpool, who were known primarily for their work on the Dillon's Rolling Western series and co-developing the Kirby series starting with Super Kirby Clash. They were ultimately shut down on May 31, 2023.
• Punchline, who only developed two games (Chulip and Rule of Rose) before shutting down as well.

Later, several former staff members from Love-de-Lic such as Yoshiro Kimura, Kazuyuki Kurashima, and Hirofumi Taniguchi would go on to join Onion Games, where they not only released a port of Moon to modern consoles, but also gave it an official English release for the first time.

Attachment The box arts of Japanese Crash Bandicoot localizations have historically used a redesign for Crash with larger eyes. This has been done for all games except for the "Titans" sub-series, which had its own distinct Crash design, and the Toys for Bob-developed games.

However, the only games that feature the design in-game for the Japanese localizations are the Japanese-developed Crash Boom Bang!, and Crash Tag Team Racing, which had a skin system that allowed Japanese Crash to appear abroad as well. A good chunk of Crash's costumes in Crash Tag Team Racing also got Japanese versions, though these combination costumes were not included in the Western release.

ConcernedApe's Haunted Chocolatier

Despite Haunted Chocolatier dealing with darker subject matter compared to his previous game Stardew Valley, creator ConcernedApe does not consider the game's subject matter to be negative, as stated in the blog post announcing the game:

"Chocolate represents that which is delightful. The haunted castle represents the allure of the unknown. The ghosts represent the imprint of the past. All of these things are important. However, don’t think for a moment that, because this game features ghosts in a haunted castle, it is an evil or negative game. On the contrary, I intend for this game to be positive, uplifting and life-affirming. However, if Stardew Valley mostly channeled the energy of the sun, Haunted Chocolatier channels the energy of the moon. Both are vital."

Indigo Park

The Poodle Plush collectible item is based on Percy Poodle, the titular antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's fangame Playtime with Percy. Rambley alludes to this when presenting the plush to him at the Information Kiosk, noting how it's a "non-Indigo-brand toy", and claiming that it would "make playtime special for a child with poor taste".

One of the game's dual protagonists Yasuke, an African samurai, is the first main character in the series to be based on a real historical figure, but his real-life identity and status serving under Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga has been the subject of a contentious debate among historians. There are few scholarly/historical resources available describing him and his life, and no known resources from when he was alive that refer to him as a samurai, with the most common conclusion being his title was a retainer.

His reveal as a main character in the game on May 15, 2024 caused polarizing reactions worldwide on social media. Fans critical of the decision claimed Ubisoft were going against the series' penchant for accurate historical backgrounds and misrepresented Japan, which the series had never covered in-depth, by inflating Yasuke's role in history and not having both protagonists be Japanese (the other protagonist, Naoe, is Japanese), claiming he was not actually a samurai. Fans in support of his role claiming he was actually a samurai called these objections racist and based on narrow-minded arguments and inferences, with some going so far as to claim that Asian samurai protagonists in media were oversaturated and that critics' complaints would be the same if the game was set in Africa and starred an African protagonist. This intense fighting led to an edit war on Yasuke's English Wikipedia article, with administrators publicly calling its Talk page "a complete dumpster fire". As of June 10, the consensus that the Talk page reached appears to be that the available historical resources are inconclusive and do not confirm if Yasuke was or was not a samurai. Reflecting this, the article does not call him a samurai when covering his documented life.

This lack of clarity allows popular media to take creative liberties in adapting him, often depicting him as a high-ranking samurai, and Ubisoft took a similar direction. A press release at the game's announcement stated:

"Ubisoft Quebec wanted to include a Samurai, and Yasuke's story was open-ended enough to allow for creativity; there are still plenty of questions and speculation surrounding him. The fascinating facts, though, were undisputable: of African origin, he arrived in Japan enslaved by the Portuguese; he impressed with size, strength, and wits; he served under the Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga. There must have been something exceptional about Yasuke to succeed in the service of a personality like Nobunaga's, [...] and the goal has been to expound on this in [the game] through his curiosity, openness, respect for values and tradition, valor, warmth, and charisma."

While the quote's header is named "Yasuke: A Real-Life Samurai", it seems carefully worded to stop short of directly calling him a samurai. More advertising described him as a "samurai of historical legend", with game director Charles Benoit later acknowledging his life "is surrounded by mysteries" and that "[Yasuke] told us to tell" his story seen in the game.

Creative director Jonathan Dumont elaborated in a set of interviews with Famitsu on May 15 that they chose Yasuke to fit with the story of a foreigner who fights off oppressing forces like the Portuguese slave trade's effects on Japan, while exploring a country unknown to him alongside the player, stating that they were "first looking for "our samurai," someone who could be our non-Japanese eyes". The following day, the interviews were edited to remove this quote, and to change quotes either directly or contextually referring to Yasuke as an "outsider" to being a "foreign-born samurai".

The game's creator David O'Reilly was friends with Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, also known as the "Daniels", the two writers and directors of the 2022 film "Everything Everywhere All at Once". During the climax of the film, protagonist Evelyn Wang and antagonist Jobu Tupaki appear in an alternate universe where they are both rocks overlooking a vista. In an interview with the Daniels, they revealed that this scene had two major influences. One being the children's book "Sylvester and the Magic Pebble" (about a donkey who turns into a rock and is isolated from his family), while the other inspiration was the core concept of O'Reilly's video game Everything, where the player can play as "literally anything". They described it as follows:

Kwan: "Literally, you can be a toenail clipping, you can be a fire hydrant, you can be an antelope, you can be a rock. And there’s maybe a dozen different kind of rocks you can be. Just rolling around —"

The first small patch for Crow Country released on May 10th, 2024 merely states "Fixed xenophobic mushroom boys. Ask me about it some time." Tom Vian, technical director at SFB Games, elaborated on this in a Twitter thread stating a bug had been reported through the Steam forums regarding the "mushroom boys" found throughout the game. As it turned out, the config settings regarding the mushroom boys' trigger distance had been stored as text, with said distances using fractional values. This caused issues regarding the computer's native regional style. For example, a French computer would read a "0.4" value as simply "0", making the trigger range impossible to enter. Similarly, a German computer would turn the value into "4", meaning the trigger range could reach halfway across the room. The glitch was fixed by updating the game so that it only used the United Kingdom's configuration settings, as this was how the devs' settings were written, and was why the glitch was never encountered during playtesting (the playtesters were mostly from the UK aside from a few US playtesters).

In a 2008 interview with the game's director Katsura Hashino published in the Persona Club P4 book, he credited the game's Japanese voice cast for having "saved us". He went on to explain the casting process for the Japanese version, which only started after a rough draft of the script was finished. The game's scenario writer Yuichiro Tanaka came up with a list of potential candidates and samples of their work; Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and sound designer Shoji Meguro selected the cast together from that list. Hashino noted that none of them had much knowledge about voice actors and only relied on the given samples to choose who they felt was best for the role.

The Boogie Man elaborates on this, revealing that while he can see red, he has difficulty with white and pink.
