Garfield Kart: Furious Racing
1
If a player beats a Garfield Kart: Furious Racing time trial in less than 40 seconds - something believed to be impossible without cheating - this message will appear:

"You cheated not only the game, but yourself.

You didn't grow.

You didn't improve.

You took a shortcut and gained nothing.

You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained. It's sad that you don't know the difference."

The text is lifted from a tweet by user @Fetusberry about a PC Gamer article on beating Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice with cheats.

Tetris
subdirectory_arrow_right Jeopardy (Franchise)
1
Attachment In 2019, a meme image was posted by Twitter user Vecchitto showing a fake page from the Tetris manual giving the Tetrominos their own names:

• J is "Orange Ricky"
• L is "Blue Ricky"
• Z is "Cleveland Z"
• S is "Rhode Island Z"
• I is "Hero"
• T is "Teewee"
• O is "Smashboy"

Later in the same year, these fake names would appear on an episode of Jeopardy!, mistaken for official Tetris names. Despite being incorrect, the player given the question still answered correctly.

Notably, the hoax manual mentions the colors of the J and L blocks, which were not established at the time, with every block's color palette being based on the level instead of the shape.

Attachment The antagonist of the original Yakuza was voiced by Kazuhiro Nakaya, who later went on to voice Ichiban Kasuga, the protagonist of Yakuza: Like A Dragon. The two characters also have the same koi tattoo, leading fans to speculate on the parallels between both characters, but aside from their voice actors and tattoos, there are only surface-level parallels.

Attachment In the castle courtyard in Super Mario 64, there is a plaque to a power star with an illegible name written below, often interpreted as either "Eternal Star" or "L is Real 2401" - with the latter being more popular for how it could be seen as a cryptic hint towards unlocking Luigi.

In a poetic coincidence, the source code leak that revealed Luigi's scrapped model would be found 24 years and 1 month after Super Mario 64's release.

Matthew Patrick (or "MatPat"), a YouTuber known for making a multitude of Five Nights at Freddy's analysis videos throughout the series' history for his series "Game Theory", makes a cameo as a waiter in the 2023 "Five Nights at Freddy's" film. The coffee shop that he works at is named Sparky's (a nod to Sparky the Dog, one of the series' earliest fan-made hoaxes). MatPat's character's name as seen on his name tag is Ness, which, according to series creator Scott Cawthon, is a reference to a 2016 Game Theory video where MatPat theorized that Sans from Undertale was Ness from EarthBound. MatPat's final line in his scene is "but that's just a theory", a portion of his catchphrase used in the majority of his videos.

A pinned comment left by Cawthon on a "Film Theory" video where MatPat goes into further detail on his cameo in the film claimed that the packed theater Cawthon watched the film in "ERUPTED in cheers" when MatPat appeared.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time
subdirectory_arrow_right Crash Team Rumble (Game)
1
Attachment Crash Team Rumble had been teased officially as far back as Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time's release date in 2020 - first in It's About Time! where, after 106% completing the game, the player could return to the start of the game and spin Crash's TV multiple times to show a mysterious Wumpa Fruit symbol. This would shortly be followed by a cross promotional video for Uncharted, where the symbol could be seen again on a banner with the words "Wumpa League".

Later in 2021, a Game Designers Conference talk with Toys for Bob studio head Paul Yan would show two hints towards the game's existence: one on a graphic made to show the game's goals with a set of green "this game is..." post-it notes (such as "new vehicles" or "cartoony animation" and red "this game isn't..." post-it notes (such as "beat 'em up" and "open world") with Wumpa League put in the middle as a yellow "might be", obscured by another note; and a second where the screen very briefly flashes to concept art of "Wumpa League". Crash content creators and game journalists would soon receive Wumpa Fruit-shaped pinatas with the Wumpa League branding and colors, which was then followed by a set of meme tweets on the Crash Twitter account relating to Wumpa Fruit, one of which being a play on the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Pepe Silvia conspiracy board meme. Toys for Bob would later release a Crash anniversary celebration video showing the Wumpa League logo again along with a Gem variant. The Wumpa League logos would show once more in the background of a PlayStation crossover commercial. The final tease of 2021 would be in a Christmas package sent to the press which had the Gem sticker placed on the side of the box.

In 2022, the hints started rolling in again on St. Patrick's Day, when Toys for Bob posted a piece of concept art for Crash 4 edited to have four-leaf clovers littered throughout, asking players to find the seasonal hidden objects. However, the Wumpa League symbol was hidden alongside the clovers. Later, the press and Crash fandom would recieve another package, this time an Aku-Aku-branded pizza box promoting Crash 4's release on Steam, with "HUNGRY FOR MORE? TRY OUR NEW WUMPA PIZZA FOR $12.08!" written on the side - the price translating into the date of August 12, which was the date of the Game Awards, which is ultimately where Crash Team Rumble would be revealed.
Battlefield 4
1
On the map Dragon Valley 2015 which is included in the Legacy Operations expansion, at the Temple (the H flag in a Conquest Large game), a small Phantom Program skull can be found imprinted on a pillar. If you stay near this pillar for long enough, a lantern adjacent to it will start flickering a message in Morse code. Deciphering the code will reveal a message written in Belarusian, which translated to English reads:

"DID YOU MISS ME?
GOOD LUCK
JJJU"

JJJU is the signature of Julian Manolov, an engineer at DICE Los Angeles who is responsible for several cryptic and elaborate Easter eggs in Battlefield 4's expansions and maps. This message's placement in a lantern was another clue. If you're playing on an unranked server, two or three randomized lanterns at the base of the temple will be lit every time the round starts. To turn on and off these lanterns, there are seven well-hidden interactive buttons scattered around the map, but which button controls which lanterns also changes every time the round starts. This is a pattern-based logic puzzle (similar to Parker Brothers' Merlin game "Magic Square" or Tiger Electronics' "Lights Out") that requires time and coordination to ensure that you turn on the correct switches to light all the lanterns without leaving any of them off. The solution included in the source of this trivia most likely will not work, as every time the round restarts, a different solution will be generated. Once you finally light all the lanterns, go back to the original pillar, and head to the adjacent pillar facing towards a tree. Within the side of the pillar facing the tree branches, a transparent digital keypad can be found. Pushing any button on this keypad will cause the lantern to start flashing an even longer Morse code message that reads:

"WHEN NIGHT FALLS OVER THE OLD FACTORY A SECRET LURKS IN THE OPENNESS OF THE NORTH WOODS
MULTIPLY THE LETTERS OF THE LONGEST WORD AND THE ONE AFTER IT TO FORM THE CODE"

This message directs players to the nighttime variant of the Zavod 311 map introduced in the Night Operations expansion, called Zavod: Graveyard Shift, where there is an old factory in the woods to the north of the map. In this area, you should eventually find a large rock where if you crouch and wait, a low-pitched, slowed down audio message will play that when sped up reveals a recording from the animated webseries "Battlefield Friends" of main character Neebs singing "I Got Little Birdy Legs", which he does whenever he captures an objective. Continuing with the instructions, the longest word in "I Got Little Birdy Legs" is "Little" and the word right after it is "Birdy". Simply multiplying the number of letters in each word together (6 x 5) only gives 30 which is not the correct code. Instead, the solution is to multiply each letter as its numerical value in the alphabet, which will look like this:

(L I T T L E) x (B I R D Y) = ?
(12 x 9 x 20 x 20 x 12 x 5) x (2 x 9 x 18 x 4 x 25) = 83980800000

Inputting the above code back at the keypad pillar in Dragon Valley 2015 will cause the same Morse code lantern to beep twice indicating you entered the correct code, and then starts flashing a third Morse code message at a faster speed than the previous two:

"TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE NOW JOIN A RANKED CONQUEST LARGE GAME,
STAND AT THE WEST SIDE OF THE SHAFT OF THE NORTH-WESTERN
WATER TOWER FOR 2 MINUTES, THEN USE THIS INDIVIDUAL CODE THERE
[the remainder of this message is a one-time use code individually generated for each player, the code featured in the source of this trivia also most likely will not work]..."

Following these instructions at the water tower in Dragon Valley 2015 will cause another small button to appear, which will spawn another keypad on the water tower pillar. Entering the final code will trigger another clip of Neebs from Battlefield Friends screaming that he got "PROMOTED!" After the round ends, go to the Equipment and Customization menu and check your character's Camouflage. At the very bottom of the available camos is a new skin, the DICE LA camo. This is a unique, standout camouflague that was previously only available to employees at DICE LA until this Easter egg was implemented.
Among Us
1
The Airship update for Among Us partially took so long to come out because of talks with lawyers about circumventing bootleg Among Us merchandise.

Among Us creator Marcus Bromander would claim two years later in an interview with YouTubers LS Mark and Veronicaandjelly that he felt that taking legal action against fake Among Us products was a "losing battle" and that he ultimately just found them funny and thought of them as free promotion.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I
1
Attachment For a week in the lead-up to Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I's gameplay and title reveal, Sega posted a daily countdown showing a lineup of Sonic's friends' names, eliminating a set each week before landing on just Sonic. This was in response to a high demand from Sonic fans at the time for a game centered on just Sonic and Dr. Eggman without any of Sonic's allies assisting him nor any greater villains superseding Eggman.
