Starting in 2021, War Thunder's official forums became notorious for being the center point of multiple leaks of export-restricted or regionally classified military documents from around the world detailing how various weapons and transportation equipment like tanks and fighter jets are built. The leaks are attributed to the fact that the game strives to depict the minutiae of warfare as realistically as possible, leading to players with military connections, or access to resources that are publicly available in other regions, sharing the documents on the forums in order to prove points regarding what would or would not be accurate in-game. Despite the forum moderators quickly removing these posts and issuing multiple warnings about them breaching international law, the issue became so prominent and recurring that laypeople began spreading rumors that the United States military had to start filtering out War Thunder players during the recruitment process, which American weapons contractor RTX Corporation denied.

In 2013, a Kingdom Hearts online mobile game was in development that never saw the light of day. It was to be called "Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys". The game was rumored to feature customizable avatar characters (like Union Cross). It would also have been in 3D instead of Union cross' 2D art style. Most interesting and exciting of all though (gathered from concept art no less) was the Disney world list as the game would feature returning worlds like: Agrabah, Wonderland, a Lilo & Stitch Hawaii world, Space Paranoids/The Grid, London/Neverland, and Dwarf Woodlands. It also included worlds that didn't appear in the series yet but would appear in later games like Union Cross and Kingdom Hearts III, such as: Arendell (Frozen), Kingdom of Corona (Tangled), and Niceland/Game Central Station (Wreck-It Ralph). Finally, and most shockingly, a world based on the Star Wars franchise, although this world's chronology is unknown as concept art show different conflicting eras, such as an image of characters Anakin, Obi-wan, Padme, and Master Yoda in their exact looks from Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and series in a separatist gunship's hanger as well as a planet that looks similar to Tatooine and an anachronistic Death Star power station room. It is unknown why this game was cancelled.

Nintendo planned to release the 64DD in North America and even manufactured test units with fully translated BIOSes and functional region locking. However, the idea was ultimately dropped due to the add-on's low sales in Japan. Concrete proof of these plans wouldn't become public until 2016, when YouTuber Jason Lindsey (a.k.a. MetalJesusRocks) found a surviving test unit and verified its legitimacy with former Nintendo of America employee Mark DeLoura.

Among the files uncovered in a massive 2020 breach of internal server data from Nintendo are documents surrounding Project BB2, a never-released, iQue-branded version of the GameCube for the Chinese market. According to an executive summary from January 30, 2004, this system would've played games off of CD-ROM and DVD-ROM discs rather than the GameCube's proprietary format; consequently, it also would've been compatible with audio CDs and DVD video like the Panasonic Q. Project BB2 was also intended to feature karaoke support, owed to karaoke's high popularity in China.

Among the material uncovered in the 2020 Gigaleak, a large-scale data leak from Nintendo's internal servers, was a series of documents surrounding Project INDY, an early iteration of the Nintendo Switch co-developed with ST Microelectronics. Project INDY was envisioned as a successor to the Nintendo 3DS and was halfway between it and the Wii U in terms of processing power.
The system would've carried over many of the 3DS' features, including dual-screen functionality, touch controls, stereoscopic 3D, motion sensors, augmented reality functionality, and StreetPass support. The system also would've featured backwards compatibility with 3DS game cards, Bluetooth connectivity (including support for wireless speakers and headsets), GPS functionality, a videotelephony app, the ability to wirelessly project games to a TV screen via Miracast, and support to quickly convert a commercially released unit into a developer system, easing development costs for independent studios. Many of these features would be carried over to the Switch in modified forms.

Prior to the game's release, a picture of the game's main menu was leaked online. The simplicity of the menu lead to Mark Kern (the former lead developer of World of Warcraft) accusing the team behind Starfield of not caring for their work, merely rushing through to hit deadlines. This was met with backlash from fans, with many pointing out that the menu design was standard for Bethesda titles. Bethesda employee Pete Hines later criticized Kern for being unprofessional, and further reiterated that the menu design was a standard for the studio.

In the weeks prior to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2's release, a near-complete prototype build of the game leaked online. The Twitter account for the game's main developer, Fair Play Labs, accidentally retweeted a GIF of SpongeBob dancing from an unrevealed sound test mode and promptly deleted it. Community manager Thaddeus Crews expressed that, while he didn't have a particular moral problem with fans playing the leaked build, he advised against competitive players using it for practice due to how outdated it is.

The boss on Solar known as Vulcain, alternatively known as サンガー (Sangā) or Sanger in the Japanese version of Star Fox 64, was originally intended to be the boss for Sector X.
A developer story on the Japanese website for Star Fox 64 reveals Sector X was originally meant to be the "Andross Army Biological Weapon Development Factory", and Fox and his crew were supposed to have engaged with a transport fleet heading for the factory, where they would sneak past the security defenses and enter the interior of the factory, only to find it in a state of disarray due to an accident during an experiment with robots and out-of-control bioweapons attacking all over. They would eventually come across an enemy transport ship attempting to escape only for it to be suddenly destroyed from the inside, revealing Vulcain as the stage's boss.
In the final game, Spyborg (HVC-09 in the Japanese version) is the boss of Sector X, and Vulcain was relocated to planet Solar. Vulcain's beta textures from its tenure as the Sector X boss was recently discovered within files pertaining to Star Fox 64 in the Nintendo Gigaleak.

In a 1995 developer interview, Shigeru Miyamoto stated that the Super Star was originally going to briefly transform Baby Mario into his adult self. However, the idea was discarded after one of the developers pointed out that it would clash with the game's premise of being an origin story for the Mario brothers. Instead, Super Star Mario was redesigned to simply be Baby Mario in a yellow cape.
In 2020, sprites for Mario's adult form were uncovered as part of a massive leak of data from Nintendo's internal servers. These sprites indicate that Super Star Mario was not originally able to float in the air and that he was able to ride Yoshi to some extent (in the final game, Yoshi reverts to an egg until the Super Star wears off).

During the prerelease of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, a set of placeholder pages were found on the game's website relating to different characters. Most notable of these pages was one for Helga, a character who was in the first Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl and hadn't been seen in All-Star Brawl 2 marketing materials or leaks at that point - this led a lot of fans to believe that Helga would be returning. Ultimately, she would only be a background cameo on the Aquarium stage.

In Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, King Chicken's name had been uncovered through datamines months before his release. These datamines show that the character's name was very briefly changed to "King Paul III" (a pun on "poultry") before being reverted back to the earlier name for the character's official release.

On December 24, 2022, an anonymous user on the Internet Archive uploaded the source code for Rayman 4, the original prototype for what would later become Rayman Raving Rabbids. The Rayman 4 prototype, which was known to be a 3D Platform game with beat'em up elements that involved the Rabbids as the game's antagonists, showcases several interesting features. Some of the content featured in the E3 2006 trailer can be found in the prototype such as rideable animal companions, interchangeable costumes, combat gameplay, and explorable settings such as a forest, cave, & gear temple.

There were plans to create original Skylanders exclusive to Ring of Heroes before the game's closure. This included a Dark elemental mantis Skylander named Machetis, an Undead elemental bat-esque Skylander named BatGatling, an unnamed kangaroo-esque Skylander, and an unknown green Skylander. In the reveal trailer for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, a set of gameplay footage from the first installment is shown. This is notable for two reasons, one being that the footage shows off multiple characters not featured in the second game, and that one scene shows a beta version of the Wild Waterfall stage with a smaller waterfall and different colors for the Thornberrys' ComVee. This would lead to a theory that the Wild Waterfall footage was taken from NASB 2 and accidentally inserted into the NASB 1 section of the trailer, which if true would confirm that Lincoln Loud and Leonardo were returning.
This theory was quite easily debunked by Lincoln and Leonardo using their models from the first All-Star Brawl while everyone else got revised models, and a KO explosion effect featured in the snippet being different from one shown later in the trailer. Nigel Thornberry's character showcase would later show off a new Wild Thornberrys stage in place of Wild Waterfall, which was shortly followed by a leak showing Lincoln as an NPC cameo on the Loud Castle stage.

When Rashid was unveiled as a playable character in Street Fighter V, his specific nationality was unknown, with players only knowing that he was Middle Eastern. However, in 2022 when the entire playable base game roster and first wave of DLC of Street Fighter 6 was leaked, it revealed a more specific country he was from, with Rashid confirmed as being Saudi Arabian.
