Peppa Pig: World Adventures
2
Peppa Pig: World Adventures' character creator allows players to make same-sex parents and families comprised of multiple animal species. Developer David Moral claimed that it would've been significantly easier during development to simply have a default player family instead of a character creator, but that it was not an option to anyone on the development team and striving for representation was "super worth it".

According to accounts from multiple 1970s-era Atari developers in interviews for Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, drugs were used heavily at the offices of Atari, and contributed to brainstorming for game ideas.
My Friendly Neighborhood

Prior to its release, Ducky Dev posted a clip on Twitter showing off a glitch he discovered where rather than being eliminated, a Norman would instead spawn out into dozens of Normans. The clip in question went viral, leading to several wishlists on Steam; Ducky Dev ultimately chose to make the glitch a part of the final game, albeit limiting it to one room.

Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery

FNaF AR was Illumix's first game, which was revealed in YouTuber Dawko's interview with Illumix CEO, Kirin Sinha.
Security Breach: Fury's Rage
1
Security Breach: Fury's Rage is a parody of arcade beat 'em up games, specifically Final Fight and Streets of Rage. This was the last game Scott Cawthon made before retiring from game development, which was only made to apologize to fans for delaying the next mainline game in the Five Nights at Freddy's series. Cawthon even states in the opening cutscene for the game:

"No. They're gonna kill me. They're gonna kill me. The fanbase. When they find out that I have to delay the game again. They're gonna kill me. They're gonna burn my house down. They're gonna- they're gonna- they're gonna tar and feather me. What am I gonna do? I know. I'll make a game for them. A game where I can help them. A game where I fight with them. That's it. Then I can be- then I can be the hero. Then they won't kill me. And what will I call the game? Hmm, something creative."

SpongeBob SquarePants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman
2
Despite the fact that Tom Kenny reprises his role as SpongeBob and Gary in this game, he does not reprise his role as the French Narrator from the show. This is unusual not only because the French Narrator has a prominent role in this game, but because the character sounds completely different to how he sounds in the show.
Twisted Metal: Small Brawl
2
During developement, devs were already creating partial assets for RC versions of two classic Twisted Metal characters: Grasshopper and Warthog. However, because developement was rushed, they could not completely finish either in time, so they came up with an idea to combine the two: they would use Grasshopper's car shape/design, stats and everything else from Warthog (including his name and cutscenes), complete with a camouflage coloration for the car and its flag. This character even became known as "Warthopper" among the devs because of this. One particular dev on the GoodrichGames YouTube channel even stated that he was disappointed with Warthog's final Special in the game (which was modified from both Specter's and Crimson Fury's) and said that if they had more time it would be fixed mechanically and also unique with each missile doing something different.

According to illustrator Greg Hardin's resume, a Nintendo DS version of the game may have been planned at some point, only to be cancelled. It is unknown if it would have been based on the PlayStation 2 or Game Boy Advance version of the game.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach
1
Attachment Most of the locations and structures in the Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex were based on places that the developers had actually been to throughout their childhoods, high school jobs, and as parents planning parties for their children.
Sonic's Schoolhouse
2
Attachment According to writer and designer Britton Jackson, Sonic's Schoolhouse started development as an original edutainment title called "Answer Hunt", that was fully developed by BAP Interactive and had no association with Sonic. This changed when BAP's production partner, Motion Picture Corporation of America, approached Sega, who expressed interest in repackaging the game as a Sonic product.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted
1
Attachment "The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience" was made by a fake company, Silver Parasol Games, which was originally going to have its own real-life website, but Scott Cawthon decided against it because he did not want to blur the lines between fact and fiction.
Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals
subdirectory_arrow_right Yandere Simulator (Game)
1
Attachment YandereDev, the creator of Yandere Simulator, was originally intended to appear as a playable character as part of Monsters & Mortals' crossover DLC with Yandere Simulator. However, his inclusion was scrapped due to the developers feeling it would be out of place, given that the Yandere Simulator DLC was intended to focus specifically on Yandere Simulator itself. Despite this, some fans believe that YandereDev's removal was due to various controversies surrounding him at the time.
Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery

According to Kane Carter, characters from titles released as part of The Fazbear Fanverse Initiative (such as Candy the Cat from Five Nights at Candy's and Popgoes the Weasel from POPGOES Evergreen) were eligible for inclusion in the game, as a manager from Illumix mentioned in a livestream that they were considered part of Scott Cawthon's official roster. However, this never happened as the game was shut down in March 2024 without any characters from these projects being added.
Ghost of Tsushima
1
In an interview with Nate Fox, Ghost of Tsushima's creative director, he said that:

"The game was definitely scripted to provide more storms as you do things which are extremely Ghost driven".

This is referring to the change in weather that can happen throughout the game, becoming more stormy and violent as Jin uses more "dishonorable" Ghost techniques over his traditional Samurai techniques. This adds to the theme of Jin losing his way as a samurai to protect his homeland of Tsushima.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder
2
In an interview with IGN, the game's director Shiro Mouri said that Mario's creator Shigeru Miyamoto was, at first, not a fan of Elephant Mario as he believed it "did not look like a Mario character." Miyamoto also believed the physics for the power-up wasn't realistic to an actual elephant. The popularity with fans after its reveal was what eventually changed Miyamoto's mind.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
3
During the game's development, Lucas - the protagonist of Mother 3 - was briefly considered as a replacement for Ness by the development team. However, due to the delays surrounding Mother 3's original Nintendo 64 release (and that game's eventual cancellation), Ness returned instead as they originally planned.

Both Ness and Lucas would go on to be playable in this game's sequel, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, though Lucas' appearance would be based on Mother 3's eventual Game Boy Advance release as opposed to what is now commonly referred to in the fan community as "EarthBound 64".
Pizza Tower
2
Attachment During development of the game, Peppino was stated to be a war veteran who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. Following the release of the game, this character trait would be retconned by the game's creator McPig, who suggested that he probably merely imagined his participation in conflict.

Annalynn
3
The Venom Brigade, the game's antagonists, were originally moles as opposed to snakes. In addition to this, the fourth mole was yellow as opposed to Handy's blue coloration. The change from moles to snakes was done because Cruise Elroy wanted more distinction between the human Annalynn and the game's enemies.
Sleepwalker
1
Though Sleepwalker was released in collaboration with Comic Relief, it was not originally intended as a tie-in with the charity. Rather, when Comic Relief approached Ocean about making a charity game, it was too close to the date of the Red Nose Day telethon for a quality game to be made in time. Comic Relief were instead given a selection from Ocean's development lineup to choose from, and decided on Sleepwalker due to its comedic animations and plot. Comic Relief contributed the design for the bonus stages and allowed them to get British comedian and Comic Relief co-founder Lenny Henry as the voice of Ralph the Dog.

Attachment Inside the files of the Wii version of Wacky Races: Crash & Dash is a file depicting the title of an unreleased game called Carmageddon: 4 Ever, seemingly implying that the game was built off of an unreleased build for the cancelled Carmageddon 4 that was also being developed at Eidos during the 2000s.
