BS-X: Sore ha Namae wo Nusumareta Machi no Monogatari
1
Attachment BS-X: Sore ha Namae wo Nusumareta Machi no Monogatari (commonly translated as "BS-X: The Town Whose Name Was Stolen") was a requisite system cartridge for the Satellaview that served as both an interactive menu and its own game. The game's hub world, which was noticeably similar to the one featured in EarthBound, featured numerous buildings representing each of the system's services. After creating a custom avatar, players could purchase items from in-game stores, play minigames, see announcements from Nintendo and St.GIGA (the two companies responsible for the Satellaview), and participate in contests. Additionally, the cartridge the game came on provided extra RAM for the Super Famicom, increasing its hardware performance.
Shipwrecked 64
1
An unused cutscene in the game has the character Stumbler O'Hare openly mock Harley Mullins (the wife of Mark Mullins) and her situation. This was scrapped both for being "WAY too on the nose", and because Stumbler's personality was altered during development. The cutscene would be replaced with a YouTube video titled "How to say Goodbye", in which Stumbler, despite knowing about Mark's crimes, tries to help him grieve over the loss of Harley. Despite the cutscene's removal, Stumbler's statue in The Dam still has him wearing a nurse's cap like in the cutscene.

Shipwrecked 64

There are unused files in the original version of Shipwrecked 64 that suggest that the character Olive Otter was originally planned to be playable, but was scrapped.
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
1
Shu Takumi originally wanted the Ace Attorney series to end with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations, as he felt that main character Phoenix Wright had been fully explored and had no reason to continue, stating:

"I felt that Phoenix's story had been told, and that the series should not continue. Knowing when to end a story is very important and I wanted to avoid dragging it out and having it become a shadow of its former self."

When it was decided that a fourth game would be made, Takumi wanted the game to have a new main character and story, with Phoenix originally not planned to appear. However, his colleagues wanted Phoenix in the game in some form, which ultimately lead to him being the defendant in the game's first case, "Turnabout Trump".
Advanced Lawnmower Simulator
1
Advanced Lawnmower Simulator was originally just a joke game reviewed in an April Fools edition of Your Sinclair Magazine, which received a 9 out of 10 and teased several other humorously mundane hygiene-based games by "Gardensoft" such as a launderette game. Over time, this game would be mentioned more beyond the April issue, with fake letters in the Letters section detailing a humorous fictional story about the game being stolen, until it culminated with the game's release on a cover disc in Issue 45, released a year and a half after the game was first mentioned.
Spyro: A Hero's Tail
subdirectory_arrow_right Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly (Game)
1
Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly's villain was originally going to be a dragon, but the lead designer was adamant that the Spyro universe could not have any evil dragons. Ironically, the following release Spyro: A Hero's Tail would introduce Red, an evil dragon.
CrazyBus
1
CrazyBus' soundtrack is often said to be randomly generated - this is partially false. The game does use a random number generator for its music, but it uses an outdated psuedo-RNG that is not truly random, so every boot of the game will play the exact same tune. However, if you press a button that does not start the game, the RNG will shift and the music will therefore end up becoming randomly generated.
CrazyBus
2
Although CrazyBus is often discussed or reviewed as if it were a real video game sold for money, and included in ROM sets and pirated cartridges with authentic games, it was actually intended as a simple tech demo by a beginning developer posted on a Sega Genesis modding forum in 2004.
Final Fantasy Tactics
1
In the Japanese version's commentary with the game's composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, he stated that the original name for the song "Remnants" was "zun zurizuri zunzun" in reference to the rhythm of the opening motif. However, this name was too long, and it was shortened to "zun zun".

Attachment The go-to term for the initial conflict of the Star Fox series, as told in three different installments (Star Fox on SNES, Star Fox 64, and Star Fox Zero), is the "Lylat Wars". This name originates from the original PAL release of Star Fox 64, where it was renamed to Lylat Wars due to trademark issues (similarly to why the first Star Fox was renamed to "Starwing" there as well). In comparison, its 3DS remake, Star Fox 64 3D, would retain the Star Fox 64 moniker in all regions. Nintendo would later actually canonize the "Lylat Wars" moniker as the official name of the conflict against Andross' forces in the opening prologue to Star Fox Zero.

In August 2016, Scott Fulop, a former editor and writer for Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comics (whose notable contributions include the characters Mammoth Mogul and the Fearsome Foursome), began pursuing legal action against Archie Comics for the unauthorized use of his characters and reprinted stories. He was inspired to do so by fellow former writer Ken Penders, who had also infamously sued Archie for similar reasons. However, on September 5, 2017, Fulop ultimately lost his lawsuit.

Attachment In the Egyptian stage of the Ice Cream Mountain level, Mr. Friend can be found wandering inside the pyramid wrapped up in bandages like a mummy and will follow the player if found. Luring Mr. Friend to the exit of the pyramid will cause him to fall apart into pieces and despawn right before he can leave.
MyPopgoes
2
MyPopgoes was originally not considered part of the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative, as creator Kane Carter's initial contract regarding the Popgoes games only included Popgoes Evergreen and Popgoes Arcade. However, on February 1, 2024, he revealed that he and Scott Cawthon had worked on an amendment to said contract, which had recently been signed and executed. This meant that the game could receive an official Steam page, and that development of the game's premium version could continue until completion.
Adventures of Tron
1
Adventures of Tron was released in Europe as Adventures on GX-12 without the Tron license. The only difference between the two versions is that the title screen was removed.

Franchise: Mortal Kombat
1
Prior to the release of Mortal Kombat Advance, Ed Boon teased the possibility of a game through a "poll" on his website (there was no known way to actually vote for this) asking which Mortal Kombat characters people would like to see, and which game they would like to see, on the Game Boy Advance.

"Five Nights at Freddy's: Survival Crew" is an upcoming Roblox game made in direct collaboration with Scott Cawthon, himself a fan of Roblox and playing it regularly with his children. However, due to miscommunication between Scott and the game's developer, Metaverse Team Frights, regarding one of the game's skins, a beta version of the game was accidentally released on December 20, 2023. The game was set to private two hours afterwards.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy
subdirectory_arrow_right The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles (Game), Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy (Game), Ace Attorney (Franchise)
1
A running gag throughout the Ace Attorney series involves the protagonist and his assistant having a conversation about the difference between a ladder and a stepladder. First occurring in "Turnabout Samurai", the third case of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, a stepladder has appeared in at least one location in each game to date (with the exception of The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures) for the sole purpose of continuing the tradition. The conversation generally goes as follows: after examination, the protagonist and one of their partner characters engage in a debate about the usage of the words "ladder" and "stepladder", and the difference between the two. Usually, one will accuse the other of being too absorbed in the details instead of looking at the big picture to realize that they both serve roughly the same function, to which the latter's response will often vary. Additionally, similar gags in regards to other items in the series have also been used, particularly in The Great Ace Attorney games, which primarily use a variant of the debate involving the difference between a shovel and a spade instead.

Within the various re-releases of the Ace Attorney games, an achievement is added that can be unlocked for engaging in every "ladder vs. stepladder" debate within the games featured in that collection. In the case of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, a second achievement for engaging in every "shovel vs. spade" debate within the two games is also included.
