The PAL release of the game was known as "Starwing" instead of Star Fox. The reason for this was to avoid similarities with a German company called StarVox since F is pronounced liked a V in German, which would have caused confusion for German players.

Lots of games have name differences in Germany then they do in the UK and Australia I thought, thus making this PAL name change just because of Germany questionable. It would be like those other words with similar spellings that replace the F with a V and vice versa.
