A Hat in Time
1
Attachment In the Nyakuza Metro DLC, there is a hidden area that can be accessed in the Green Clean Station by jumping off of a moving subway train at the last second and then wall-jumping up to the top of a large, green, three-tiered LCD display above the station ledge. At the top, a cage with an egg can be found, but just near it is a Springboard that will send Hat Kid to a hidden, burning, grated area through a manhole. Upon interacting with the manhole, a message can be found on it that reads "Kiwami means extreme.". Suddenly, an eye-patched Metro Cat named Meowjima will ambush you by jumping out of the manhole and screaming:

"HAT KID-CHAAAAAAN! You've grown soft, time to bring out your fighting spirit!"

This initiates a secret mini-boss battle. The message on the manhole is a reference to the tagline of the game Yakuza: Kiwami, and this character is a parody of Goro Majima based on his appearance in that game as well as a reference to one of its side quests "Majima Everywhere", where he ambushes Kazuma Kiryu through disguised encounters as a form of training. There is no reward for completing this boss battle, and upon interacting with the manhole again you will be sent back to the Springboard you used to enter it.
Mario Paint
1
Attachment Updated versions of the game were distributed online via the Satellaview service in Japan; these versions support standard controllers as well as the Super NES Mouse. The "Yuushou Naizou Ban" version of the game also adds the picture "Dreaming of the Moon" by Mizota Hiroko of Tokyo, the winner of a contest associated with an earlier updated version of the game titled "Mario Paint BS-Ban".

By plugging a controller into the second port on a SNES, two extra features can be accessed:

•Pressing A/B/Start at the same time will start the game without having to click on Mario.
•Pressing A/B/Select at the same time will (after a short delay) load and display the currently saved drawing, animation, and music. If nothing has been saved, the message "NO SAVE DATA" will be displayed instead, and you must reset the console to return to the title screen.
The King of Fighters XII
1
Prior to the game's console release, SNK celebrated the series' 15-year anniversary by updating the official King of Fighters website to feature images of K' and Mai Shiranui in the game's art style. This led to speculation that the two characters would be playable on the console versions of the game. This ended up being false, with both K' and Mai becoming absent from the final roster, with Elisabeth and Mature substituting as console-exclusive characters.
DuckTales: Remastered
1
Upon completing the game on Extreme Difficulty, the text that would normally say "Thanks for Playing" is replaced with one that says "Dream and Friends", referencing what was said by Scrooge to his nephews in the ending of the prototype version of the original NES game.
Crusader: No Regret
1
Entering "Jassica16" and then pressing F10, the command used to enable cheat codes in Crusader: No Remorse, will initially display a message indicating that cheats have been enabled, until a few seconds later when another message appears stating "Of course we changed the cheats... duh." and a voice clip of the game's antagonist Chairman Draygan plays. The Silencer is then transported to a hidden room where he is surrounded by a wave of powerful mechs while the game's Christmas medley, which normally plays when the system's clock is set to December 25th, plays in the background. Defeating all of the enemies in the room will cause the player to lose control of the Silencer as he quickly turns towards the camera while the last enemy dies, before exploding himself and shutting down the game.
Bubsy 3D
2
Attachment In the opening title card to the game's penultimate level "Escape from WooL.A.", Bubsy appears dressed as Snake Plissken, the protagonist of the action movies "Escape from New York" and "Escape from L.A.", the latter film of which the level is named after. Beyond that, inputting the password "XURASNAKER" on the Load/Save menu will allow you to play as Bubsy while wearing the costume in any level.
Tales of Destiny

During the first fight with Leon, it is possible to defeat him either through cheating or by grinding to at least level 12 beforehand. Beating him will trigger a short cutscene showing a secret ending to the game where Spoiler:Rutee briefly lambasts Leon and then forcibly enlists an upset Stahn to join her and Mary in becoming an infamous trio of globe-trotting Lens hunters, before the game abruptly returns to the title screen. This ending is not featured in the game's PlayStation 2 remake, as Leon's fight is redesigned to be impossible to defeat.
Creatures II: Torture Trouble
1
Attachment During the title screen's credits, an infinite lives cheat code involving pressing several impossible button combinations at once can instead be activated by wetting your finger and rubbing against the empty Control Port One on a Commodore 64 keyboard, tricking the game into thinking these combinations are being performed. A large sprite of Maximus Mouse (from the games Summer Camp and Winter Camp) will appear, replacing the giant sprite of Fuzzy that is normally in the background, waving his arms as you rub your finger across the port until he turns grey and the fountain of Fuzzy sprites that normally launches in the foreground instead launch flashing rainbow-colored Fuzzys, indicating the cheat has been activated.

New Super Mario Bros.
1
On the World Map pause screen after finishing the game, if you press L/R/L/R/X/X/Y/Y, a secret Challenge Mode will be enabled that disables scrolling backwards in levels, making the gameplay more similar to Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, and Super Mario Land. Inputting this code again on the World Map pause screen disables this mode.
McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure
1
Attachment In the April 2021 issue of the magazine Retro Gamer, Treasure's president Masato Maegawa revealed that entering a specific password on the game's password screen would allow access to a secret "polygonal display". After searching through the game's code and many brute-forced attempts, the method to access the display was eventually discovered:

Enter the password (shown in the attached picture) "Balloons", "Jewel", "M" and "Clown". Then, press Start three times until you hear the sound of an explosion and quickly hold Up+Left and wait. If done correctly, the McDonald's Password sign will turn from a 2D sprite into a 3D model, and the music will change to a song that sounds eerier than the normal password screen music.

Controls:
•D-Pad = Rotates the model
•B and C buttons = Zooms in and zooms out the model respectively
•Holding A and using the D-Pad = Moves the object across the background
•Holding A and pressing C = Switches the current object with a different one.

The viewable 3D polygonal models in this mode include the McDonald's Password sign, several cubes and squares of varying sizes and dimensions, the box in the Treasure logo, the "S" in the Sega logo, the entire Sega logo as a separate flat model, and a spaceship.

Grand Theft Auto V
1
Certain cars that have the option to add spoilers will either add or reduce the car's downforce, meaning the combined effect of air pressure and gravity pressing down an object toward the ground and increasing its stability, and in the case of the cars in Grand Theft Auto V, reducing the object's airtime:

•Feltzer: spoilers add significant downforce.
•T20: active spoilers create significant downforce, damaged spoilers take away that downforce.
•RE-7B: stock spoilers have little downforce; prior to the Grand Theft Auto Online: Gunrunning DLC, custom spoilers gave significant downforce, but this has since been reduced.
•X80 Proto: spoilers add only a little more downforce on their own, but gets significantly more downforce when braking while the flaps are active.
Super Mario 64 DS
1
Attachment In the only instance of a character having a move exclusive to VS Mode, when Yoshi is wearing Wario's Cap, he can perform an additional move called the "Swing and Fling" by picking up a stunned Yoshi, spinning around in a circle and throwing him. This move is only mentioned in the game's manual. Wario's animations when using this move share similarities to the "Wild Swing-Ding" move featured in Wario World, although the Swing and Fling does not take over spinning automatically.
Night Trap
subdirectory_arrow_right Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition (Game)
1
Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition, an expanded 2017 re-release of the game for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch and PC, uses the full uncompressed video footage recorded for the original game. Additional bonus content includes deleted scenes like an introduction scene for the game's story and a death scene featuring Danny (which was most likely cut due to Danny's young age), as well as a behind-the-scenes developer commentary, a "theater mode" to watch all of the game's story, a "survivor mode" that will randomly place Augers in the house, and a playable version of "Scene of the Crime", the first prototype of Night Trap created in 1986 to pitch an unreleased console called the Control-Vision to Hasbro.
Dead or Alive 3
1
Most likely because this game was released as a launch title for the Xbox, it was released in an incomplete state in the North American market in November 2001. As such, the European and Japanese versions of the game, which released a few months later, feature a new opening cutscene as well as extra content and gameplay updates such as new costumes and attacks for certain characters. Between June and September 2002, the Official Xbox Magazine distributed a "Booster Disk" for Dead or Alive 3, which included the new opening cutscene and all of the extra costumes released in the European and Japanese versions of the game. It did not, however, contain the new attacks or gameplay balancing that the other versions brought. This update would later be released as unlockable sync-able content under the name "DOA3 Booster Disc" in Dead or Alive Ultimate upon unlocking every costume in the game.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
0
In the Japanese version, two games featured in the Nintendo Chronicle list are Jump Super Stars and Jump Ultimate Stars, a duology of Smash Bros.-styled fighting games released for the Nintendo DS that serve as crossovers between several Shonen Jump properties. Coincidentally, both games feature Goku from the Dragon Ball series, a highly-requested non-gaming character for the Smash Bros. series.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
1
When designing the DLC character Steve from Minecraft, most of the game's stages were redesigned to accommodate for his Mine neutral special move which allows him to farm certain materials on stage-specific surfaces to then use to craft stronger weapons. However, not every surface has been programmed to mine the materials expected to appear from the surface Steve is standing on. The most notable example of this occurs on most of the trees in the game, where they can produce Dirt materials instead of Wood.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
1
According to Sakurai in a Famitsu column, Sephiroth's inclusion as DLC in this game was his attempt to include more villains and/or bosses into the series as fighters, stating that the inclusion of such characters as playable was "rare". For one reason or another, he felt Final Fantasy VII's lead antagonist was an appropriate choice for this. He also stated that his game developing philosophy for these types of characters was that he wanted them to "feel like bosses" when playing as or against them.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
1
Sakurai and his team originally had different plans for a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC character. He tried to include Rex as a playable character alongside Pyra, at first thinking of an Ice Climbers-like system where the player would control both characters at the same time, but this ended up presenting programming problems including one involving the game's memory capacity due to the size of the characters. He then had an idea of making Rex a background character whenever Pyra fights, in a similar manner to the Pokémon Trainer. He eventually felt this second method would also be taxing to the game and that fans would not be fond of it anyway so it was scrapped. He then came up with the idea to have Pyra be a transforming character (similar to how Zelda and Shiek were before Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U) with her turning into Mythra and additionally have Rex appear only in taunts, Final Smashes, and other extraneous details involving the characters.
Franchise: Bayonetta
1
Exclusive only to the Wii U and Nintendo Switch ports of the first two games in the series, several costumes were added that are based on Nintendo characters with additional features tied to them:

•Both the Mushroom Kingdom Princess and Sarasaland Princess costumes resemble the princesses Peach and Daisy from the Mario series, with Mario and Luigi charms attached to their dresses respectively. Coins will drop instead of Halos once enemies are defeated and collecting them will play the coin sound effect from the series. Attacks that summon Madama Butterfly are now replaced with Bowser's hands and feet.

•The Hero of Hyrule costume resembles Link from The Legend of Zelda series. Equipping the Shuraba with this costume will turn the current weapon into the Master Sword. Wearing the costume replaces the Halos with Rupees as well as the standard sound effects with those from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, specifically because it is series director Hideki Kamiya's favorite Zelda game. If Jeanne wears the costume, sound effects from the The Legend of Zelda can be heard instead.

•The Galactic Bounty Hunter costume resembles Samus Aran from the Metroid series. Samus's blaster cannon can be used without needing to equip a weapon skill. Furthermore, Samus' visor works differently between the two games.

•The Star Mercenary costume exclusive to Bayonetta 2 resembles Fox McCloud from the Star Fox series. Equipping the Love is Blue/All 4 One with this costume will turn the current weapon into Arwing Guns, each having charms that resemble Fox, Falco, Peppy, and Slippy. If Bayonetta dons the costume, sound effects will be replaced with those from Star Fox 64. However, if Jeanne dons the costume, sound effects from Star Fox will be heard instead.

•The Chain Chomp foot weapon, also exclusive to Bayonetta 2, can be obtained by completing all chapters on Hard difficulty. The Super Mario 64 Golden LP can be given to Rodin and he will give Bayonetta the Chain Chomp, which plays sound effects from that game. Upon performing the Umbran Dance with either Bayonetta or Jeanne will give them Mario and Luigi's caps with both letters replaced with the letter B and J, while also having fake mustaches.
