The PlayStation Vita has a slot nicknamed the "accessory port." It is situated on the top of the Vita to the right of the game card slot, but it has never been utilized. The Vita redesign model does not have this port, implying that it may or may not be utilized at all in the future.

Upon release, several users discovered that their Vita would boot in debug mode. This debug mode included three swimming dolphins and an oyster in an underwater setting. However, it was reported that there was no way to get out of this debug mode, resulting in some users having to send their systems back to Sony.
