Sneak King's early motion capture test animations were considered unsatisfactory by Burger King. It was eventually figured out that the actor could successfully mimic the King from the commercials by wearing the authentic head used in commercials and being weighed down by it. The developers of Sneak King played with the head when it first arrived, imitating the sneaking actions from the game, not realizing that it was the only Burger King head ever made, and though no damage was made to the head, they were still scolded for using it as a toy.

As of 2023, Mario has prominently appeared in at least one theatrical film per decade since he was created in 1981:
•1986’s Super Mario Bros: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach, which is one of the first film adaptations of a video game.
•1993’s Super Mario Bros, the first live-action film adaptation of a video game.
•2007’s The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, a documentary that revolves around Steve Wiebe attempting to usurp Billy Mitchell’s high score on Donkey Kong.
•2015’s Pixels, which incorporates Donkey Kong as the final boss of the film’s climax (alongside Mario making a brief cameo).
•2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is the first video game film to make $1 billion dollars at the box office.

Interestingly, the two films that weren’t direct adaptations of the games, The King of Kong and Pixels, were directed and produced respectively by Seth Gordon, who considered making a 3D film adaptation of Super Paper Mario back in 2008.

In the Toy Story films, Woody has a holster for a gun attached to his leg, but no pistol. This is not a missing play piece, as his near-mint condition is a major plot point in Toy Story 2, leading many Pixar fans to wonder why Woody lacks a gun in-universe, beyond the obvious out-universe censorship.

In the Toy Story 3 video game, there is a collectible Woody's Roundup card titled "Gunless Law", which lead some fans - particularly Disney theory YouTube channel SuperCarlinBrothers, who first made the connection - to believe that Woody's empty holster is a metaphorical symbol of an anti-violence statement from the producers of Woody's Roundup.

Similarly to Donkey Kong's origins as a Popeye game, Alex Kidd in Miracle World was originally intended as a Dragon Ball game. Alex's creator, Kotaro Hayashida, said in an interview:

"Sega were planning on making a Dragon Ball game... I guess this happened long enough ago that it's okay for me to talk about this! The project began as a Dragon Ball title, not as a direct competitor to Super Mario Bros.

But when we were told we could not use the Dragon Ball licence any more, we were forced to come up with our own ideas instead. For example, when it was Dragon Ball, Goku fought with his Power Pole, but we changed that to a punch attack. It was only after we came up with the plan to restart the project as Alex Kidd in Miracle World that we starting thinking about Mario, and looking for ways in which to differentiate the title from it."

A classic Dragon Ball influence can be observed in the final game, such as Alex's laser bracelet resembling a kamehameha and the use of Janken (Rock, Paper, Scissors) in boss battles, as well as certain character and object designs with resemblance to those from Dragon Ball, and shared influences from the public domain Japanese story Journey to the West.

The Invincible

The Invincible is based on the science fiction novel of the same name by Polish author Stanislaw Lem. The devs chose this novel to adapt because they felt the original novel was "stunningly picturesque", and that "it reads as a ready-made movie script". However, the game is not a direct adaptation of the novel; while the story is largely the same and features several returning characters, the game's main cast (including the main protagonist) are original.

Attachment Shesez, known for his YouTube series "Boundary Break", interviewed Kevin Bayliss, who was previously one of the animators and character designers for Donkey Kong Country. Bayliss mentioned during the interview that when Rare co-founder Tim Stamper and Nintendo tasked him to redesign Donkey Kong and "bring it up to date", Bayliss originally wanted DK's design to be "compact" similar to how NES characters were previously designed, and wanted the character to show up "nice and clearly." Bayliss later revealed that when designing Donkey Kong's new facial features, he used the same design as the Battletoads' eyes, believing that Gorillas "look like they got this big brow".

Attachment Tails' Skypatrol was originally developed as a licensed Disney game for an unreleased budget handheld system aimed at a younger audience with a focus on educational content - much like Sega's Pico - and was reworked into a Tails game for the Game Gear after the console was scrapped, due to the Game Gear's similar stats to the unreleased hardware. It is not known which Disney character Tails replaced, however a pre-release promotional video shows the Mickey Mouse character Peg-Leg Pete in place of Bearenger as the boss of Ruin Wood.

The player characters in Cartoon Cartoon Summer Resort, as opposed to being established Cartoon Network characters, all originated from pilots featured in Cartoon Network's 2000 "The Big Pick" event, where viewers could vote on their favorite cartoon from a selection of pilots, with the most popular being made into a full series - Uncle Gus originated from "Uncle Gus", Longhair originated from "Longhair and Doubledome", Vivian originated from "Foe Paws", and Prickles the Cactus originated from "Prickles the Cactus".

Neither of the two pilots from the 2000 Big Pick that would be picked up as full Cartoon Cartoons (Whatever Happened to Robot Jones? and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy) were featured in Summer Resort.
