Pokémon Platinum Version
subdirectory_arrow_right Pokémon Pearl Version (Game), Pokémon Diamond Version (Game)
1
Within the data for Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum is code to spawn in a Level 40 Darkrai as a roaming Pokémon, tying in with its nature as a malevolent counterpart to Cresselia (which similarly becomes a roaming Pokémon after meeting the player on Fullmoon Island). In the final game, Darkrai is instead encountered as a stationary opponent at Newmoon Island after obtaining the Member Card as a Mystery Gift item at select in-person events.

WWE 2K24
1
Attachment In early February 2024, one month prior to the game's release, multi-time WWE World Champion Brock Lesnar was removed from the cover of the "Forty Years of WrestleMania" showcase edition of the game in response to a sexual assault and sex trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE. Although Lesnar's name was not directly mentioned in the lawsuit, his reported connection to the case led to his removal as part of a wider effort by the WWE to disassociate from him. The cover was updated to feature a larger version of John Cena, where Lesnar used to be.

Content creators who got early access to the game on February 23 confirmed that both Lesnar and McMahon were no longer playable characters in WWE 2K24. While the extent of McMahon's removal is unknown, Brock Lesnar’s data remains locked away in the game due to his matches with The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30 and Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 31 being featured in the "Showcase of the Immortals" Showcase mode, and it being too far into development to remove them.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2
1
Within the 2023 Insomniac Games ransomware leak, a PC developer build of the game was found to include several unused Symbiote bosses, including Riot, Lasher, Agony, and Phage. These characters were intended to appear as a team alongside the main antagonist, Venom. However, during development, the game’s story likely underwent changes and the focus shifted to other characters, such as Kraven and Venom. As a result, the Symbiotes besides Venom, Scream, and Anti-Venom were abandoned.

Shipwrecked 64
1
An unused cutscene in the game has the character Stumbler O'Hare openly mock Harley Mullins (the wife of Mark Mullins) and her situation. This was scrapped both for being "WAY too on the nose", and because Stumbler's personality was altered during development. The cutscene would be replaced with a YouTube video titled "How to say Goodbye", in which Stumbler, despite knowing about Mark's crimes, tries to help him grieve over the loss of Harley. Despite the cutscene's removal, Stumbler's statue in The Dam still has him wearing a nurse's cap like in the cutscene.

Shipwrecked 64
1
There are unused files in the original version of Shipwrecked 64 that suggest that the character Olive Otter was originally planned to be playable, but was scrapped.
Yo! Noid 2
1
The Noid was originally going to be able to surf on pizza boxes in Yo! Noid 2, similarly to the shield surfing in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Yo! Noid 2
1
Yo! Noid 2's hub world, the Noid Void, was originally going to be a tower that the player ascends, similarly to the Assassin's Creed series, where the Noid would see a set of Domino's franchises in the sky.
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
1
Attachment When the game's logo is shown in the intro of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, the word "BATTLE" has a shining effect, which is another video file overlaid over the 3D logo. There are two versions of this video, one with Japanese kanji and another with Latin script, however due to an oversight, the shining effect will only show Japanese kanji overlaid upon the English text. This would be fixed in the 2012 rerelease, but only for the English language, so other languages with an English logo still experience the error.

Originally, the game was going to have a "Nightmare Segment", where after Bucky falls asleep, he would find himself in a strange place being hunted by a Vulture, representing his fear of death. If Bucky was caught during this sequence, he would sleep in by three hours, hindering the player's time to escape the island. It was scrapped because creator Squeaks D'Corgeh couldn't find a good gameplay loop to justify the segment's existance, and didn't want to add any filler content.
Lemmings
subdirectory_arrow_right Scooby-Doo (Franchise)
1
Attachment Lemmings was originally going to use a soundtrack of plagarised copyrighted music, something that was common in microcomputer games the decade prior, including pop songs and television theme songs. In the final game, these were swapped for public domain songs, though a sample of Don Messick as Scooby-Doo used for a cover of the Scooby-Doo & Scrappy-Doo theme song would be retained in the How Much is that Doggie in the Window? music track. The Mission: Impossible theme seems to have been chosen in reference to a fad on British television at the time of showing squirrels performing stunts to the song.
Super Mario World
1
There are fully functional unused Diggin' Chuck, Bullet Bill, Fishbone, and Spiny enemies in the code of Hummer Team's Super Mario World, as well as sprites for crushers, Lakitu, and Clappin' Chuck without associated coding.
Super Mario World
subdirectory_arrow_right Super Mario Bros. (Game), Yoshi (Franchise)
1
Attachment The concept of Mario riding a dinosaur was first concieved for Super Mario Bros., but was considered impossible from a technical standpoint. Eventually, this concept would be used in Super Mario World with Yoshi.

Silhouette Mirage
1
The Saturn release's demo, "Silhouette Mirage: Trial Version", normally ends after level two. However, hidden on the game's disc is an early pre-release build of the retail game, dated 1997-07-16, while the final game has a build date of 1997-07-30. The full game is inaccessible without modifying the data.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
1
Attachment On the base platform of Irken Armada Invasion, there is a monitor that displays a static image of the Irken insignia. There are files suggesting that this was originally going to be an animation rather than an image, as animation textures exist for a set of clips of the Almighty Tallest taken directly from Invader Zim episodes, and there is an unused how-to-play graphic showing one of said clips on the monitor. It is not known if these clips were planned to be used or if they were placeholders for another animated graphic, and whether they were scrapped for licensing issues with TV footage, distraction issues on a stage made for competitive play, or something else entirely.
Max & the Magic Marker
1
The NTSC release of the Nintendo DS version of Max & the Magic Marker has the entirety of the song "Wonderwall" by Oasis in its files, complete with audio tag metadata and the cover artwork of their album (What's the Story) Morning Glory?.
Asteroids
1
Attachment Atari 2600's Asteroids has an unused functionality for showing graphics of the spaceship as a life counter instead of the number, much like the arcade version. This was most likely changed for processing power reasons, as only six ships can be displayed at a time.
Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy
1
Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy has unused text pertaining to Game Boy Printer support. It's thought that this feature would have allowed players to print out level passwords.
Hannah Montana: Wireless Quest
1
Attachment Hannah Montana: Wireless Quest has an unused graphic, likely a placeholder, that is a red square with the word "Doge" written below. While the game's exact release date is unknown, it was available at least one year after the Hannah Montana TV show began in 2006, but the "Doge" internet meme first appeared 2 years after the show was cancelled in 2011. The shared name is a coincidence rather than a reference to the meme, and it is not known what "Doge" means in this context, though it is likely some kind of debug function, as there are other unused square graphics with phrases like "Control Game" and "Control Main" next to them.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
subdirectory_arrow_right Captain Rainbow (Game), Vs. Mach Rider (Game), Mach Rider (Game), Mach Rider (Collection)
1
Attachment Both Mach Rider's identity and gender are ambiguous. They are portrayed with a muscular build, and the NES and Famicom versions' manuals never use any gendered pronouns to refer to them. The arcade port Vs. Mach Rider's stage clear screens slowly introduce piece-by-piece an image of a skimpily-dressed woman (bearing similarities to Jane Fonda's appearance in the 1968 film Barbarella) holding a dagger, but it is never specified if this character is Mach Rider, or one of the other wasteland survivors. However, Mach Rider's trophy description in Super Smash Bros. Melee years later lists them as a male character with he/him pronouns. Even later on, Captain Rainbow, a game centered around obscure and neglected Nintendo heroes, has an unused model for Mach Rider that, while not having visible breasts due to wearing armor, portrays them with a feminine skinny waist.
