The Real Ghostbusters

Attachment The game's data contains sprites depicting Kid Klown and Princess Honey from Kid Klown in Night Mayor World, with them filling the roles of the protagonist and damsel in distress, respectively. This indicates that the game was originally devised as a Kid Klown title before being retooled around the Mickey Mouse, Garfield, and Ghostbusters franchises (depending on the region) midway through development. Ironically, Kid Klown in Night Mayor World was itself a retooled English localization of a Mickey Mouse game.

In an interview featured in the 149th issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, the game's director Hideki Kamiya confirmed that Dante's personality was inspired by Cobra from the manga series Space Adventure Cobra, and Joseph Joestar from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, while also saying that no movies in particular inspired the game. He stated:

"There are lots of different kinds of media that influenced this creation. As for the main character Dante, I was strongly influenced by a Japanese comic-book character named Cobra. Cobra is a character who has no fear and talks with lots of irony and provoking looks, even as he faces immense trouble. I always loved this character and his comic. I also referred to a character in another Japanese comic Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure [also a Capcom fighting game]. His name is Joseph Joestar and he's the main hero of the comic's second chapter. He has a very similar personality to Cobra. There are no specific movies that I referred to for DMC."

A common internet rumor, typically pushed by Nintendo fans upset over rival console manufacturer Microsoft's purchase of former Nintendo collaborator Rare, is that Kinect Sports and Kinect Sports: Season Two were mandated by Microsoft, and were not something that employees of Rare wanted to work on. According to Yooka-Laylee creative lead Gavin Price, this was not true, claiming:

"Phil Spencer taking the mantle of Xbox is one of the best things that could have happened for Rare. Because he’s always said to people at Rare [as general manager of Microsoft Studios], ‘Do what you want to do and we’ll back you,’ and he’s always stayed true to his word in that regard. It was people in Rare’s management at the time who said: ‘Well, Kinect is a great opportunity for the studio – go all in on it.’ So when executives at Microsoft see that the management team are passionate about doing that, they back them. Microsoft to their credit did that, and perhaps the story online isn’t quite reflective of the truth."

Attachment The design for the Xbox BIOS was pitched by freelance graphic design artist Seton Kim. Although he was fired from the job for the imagery of "Hello Kitty trapped in an alien pod" in a mock up of a memory card screen featuring the PlayStation games Hello Kitty's Cube Frenzy and Metal Gear Solid, the final BIOS would be very close to his designs.

SimCopter 64 was a game announced by Maxis at E3 1997 which was meant to be a complimentary game to the later announced SimCity 64. It underwent a tumultuous development cycle that saw it change from a simple rescue mission game into something entirely different. There were also conflicting reports from both Nintendo and Maxis about what console it would be releasing on and the level of connectivity it would share with its counterpart SimCity 64. All of these issues ultimately ended in it fading out of the public eye and being silently cancelled as no more updates were given leading up to its supposed release window.

Despite being finished back in 2013, the first time the game was officially shown to the public was through a tweet on the Jacknjellify Twitter account made to celebrate New Year's 2017, which included a four-second long video.
Kirby Super Star

Attachment In an interview conducted by Nintendo to promote the release of the Super NES Classic Edition, Kirby Super Star director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that celebrity copywriter and EarthBound series creator Shigesato Itoi came up with the game's Japanese title, Kirby of the Stars Super Deluxe. Itoi also came up with the idea for the Japanese box art, which is designed after Paulownia wood boxes traditionally used to package luxury alcohol and tableware in Japan. Itoi believed that both the title and the artwork would "convey how rich [the game] is in content."
Double Dribble
2
Attachment The NES version is notorious for its poor-quality voice samples, which among other things resulted in numerous mondegreens of the game's title. This is due to an oversight born out of an idiosyncrasy with the console's hardware: the NES's Ricoh 2A03 chip reads DPCM samples' bytes from right to left, whereas the samples themselves are programmed to be read from the traditional left to right. This oversight was not discovered until 2020, when a user on the NesDev forums accidentally reversed the bit order of the game's DPCM samples, resulting in significantly improved playback quality.

This issue is not limited to Double Dribble, with similar bit order errors occurring in Abadox: The Deadly Inner War, Ufouria: The Saga, Bomberman II, Mr. Gimmick, Klax, Sword Master, and A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia, among others.
Doom 3

Attachment In 2002, the alpha version of Doom 3 had been leaked online. In this alpha version, the logo used for Doom 3 looked markedly different from its final version, using stylized roman numerals like one of its predecessors Doom II: Hell on Earth.

The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog
1
Early plans for the game had Charmy Bee and Cream the Rabbit involved in the game's plot, but these were scrapped as the devs felt that they were too young to participate in a murder mystery party game.
Chrome Dino

Additional animations were considered for the T-Rex, including roaring and a kick inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog, but these were scrapped to keep the animation rigid.

The concept of the Google Chrome dinosaur minigame is a play on the ubiquity of the Internet in modern society, suggesting that being without it is like being teleported to the Stone Age.
Annalynn

The Mineshaft and High Score themes from the 2016 version of the game were remade for the 2021 release. While the Mineshaft theme is a near-identical conversion, the High Score theme is quite different.
Annalynn

Early development plans involved Annalynn being released as part of a 4-in-1 collection of arcade-style titles. The other games were dropped to focus on Annalynn.

Attachment On August 16th, 2023, Cruise Elroy revealed that he usually sketches out concepts for Annalynn before implementing them in game. While many of the sketches shown are present in the final release, some unused concepts are also shown, such as an orange character named Annabelle (presumably a second player character) and Mappy-style trampolines.

Among these sketches is also Mike drawn with an expression mirroring that seen in the "Today I Will" meme.

Attachment During the development of the Nintendo Switch version, exclusive guest character Anton received a few scrapped sprites, including one with a closed mouth. A bottle of a red beverage and a red ball with eyebrows and a beard (presumably a reference to Antonball, Anton's debut appearance) were also planned to serve as Anton's life counter before being replaced with beets in the final release.
