The toothbrush model in Yandere Simulator, a background prop with no in-game use, at one point had 5,592 faces, making it the heaviest model in the game, including characters and entire interior rooms. It is theorized that the model was originally made for photorealistic CGI in commercials, and had its polygon count shoddily reduced, as each individual bristle on the brush is rendered. Eventually, the model would be replaced, giving it the much smaller - albeit still-ridiculously high - triangle count of 994.

Unusued icons found within Star Fox Command curiously show ROB 64 with the original Great Fox as it appeared in previous installments such as Star Fox 64 and Star Fox: Assault. This is odd, because the Great Fox was already shown to be completely destroyed in the climax for the previous game, Star Fox: Assault, which is why it was replaced with a small space carrier in the final version of Command.
This indicates that this was either merely a placeholder, or at some point, the development team had considered bringing the original Great Fox model back as it was prior to Assault's ending.

Atari: 80 Classic Games in One! contains two unused ROMs created to test the emulators used in the compilation. Interestingly, the .txt file that contains the descriptions of all the featured games also has explanations of what these ROMs are, suggesting that they may have at one point been planned to be included as bonus content on the compilation for regular players:

The combat robots known as the Shogun Troopers in Star Fox 64's Sector Y stage are called サルジャー (Sarujā) in the Japanese version of the game. This can be translated as "Sarger".

When Super Mario Bros. 35 and Super Mario 3D All-Stars were released, they were criticized for being preemptively planned to be pulled from digital storefronts on March 31, 2021. This, along with the DIC Mario cartoons coincidentally being moved from Netflix to Paramount+ on the same day, spawned an internet meme depicting Mario as receiving a medieval public execution by Nintendo on that date.

One commercial for the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer line of systems shows a Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo Entertainment System being thrown into a child's toy box, as to refer to the consoles as "baby toys". Ironically, the end of the B-roll in the commercial shows footage from Putt-Putt Joins the Parade, a game intended for a demographic of ages 3 to 8.

In the cutscenes for Kat & Ana's stage in WarioWare: Move It!, Cractus from Wario Land 4 appears. This is the first time a Wario Land character has appeared in the cutscenes of a WarioWare game.

Lincoln Loud's neutral water gun move "The Splasher" had to be reworked during development; the original version of the move stunned opponents and could be cancelled into most actions in the game. This was a flawed move design however, as players could simply cancel the move into a waveland and then perform it again, making an infinite combo. If this move stayed in, Lincoln would have had to be banned from early competitive play, much as Michelangelo would end up being. In the final game, the water gun pushes opponents and cannot be cancelled.

In 1992, after the failure of a deal to create a CD-ROM drive for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sony approached Sega of America proposing that they collaborate on a next-generation CD-ROM console to compete with Nintendo. While Sega of America was open to the idea and even started testing the waters between the two companies by having each develop a handful of titles for the Sega CD, Sega of Japan shot down the concept. Consequently, Sony would reorient their efforts towards what would become the PlayStation, while Sega would develop their own next-gen console, the Sega Saturn, in-house. In an interview with Sega-16, Tom Kalinske cited the veto as a factor in his decision to step down as head of Sega of America.
