Attachment Prior to doing official work on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise as one of its writers/artists, Evan Stanley worked on a fan comic called "Ghosts of the Future" based on the series. Set in an alternate reality where Sonic and his friends are defeated by Dr. Eggman with the aid of a mind-controlled Shadow, the comic featured Silver the Hedgehog as the main character, tasked with restoring the seven Chaos Emeralds that were removed from time as a last resort. After being brought on to do official work on the franchise, the fan comic has been referenced on two occasions in official Sonic comics. The first was in issue 257 of Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comic, which featured cameos from Richard and Deborah Erin (Silver's parents in the comic) during the scene where Rotor is directing rescue operations outside Twinkle Park (note that they are slightly recolored in this scene). The second time was in issue 64 of IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog comic, which featured cameos from Vanice the Hedgehog and Sicily the Hedgehog (Silver's sisters in the comic) during the scene where Silver and Whisper are trying to confront Duo.

Big TV Mary Bar
1
Attachment Inside the files of Big TV Mary Bar is a logo with a large F and the caption "Fortran" - it is unknown what this stands for, but it's assumed to be related to the Fortran programming language.

Many fans of bootleg games have taken to referring to the Mario look-a-like featured in the game as "Fortran", after this unused graphic and the F written on his hat in a similar typeface.
Tetris: N-Blox
1
Tetris: N-Blox was originally a fangame by Paul Neave, well-known for his unofficial ports of other vintage games like Pac-Man and Frogger, but would eventually become licensed as an official Tetris product.
Battlefield 4
1
On the map Dragon Valley 2015 which is included in the Legacy Operations expansion, at the Temple (the H flag in a Conquest Large game), a small Phantom Program skull can be found imprinted on a pillar. If you stay near this pillar for long enough, a lantern adjacent to it will start flickering a message in Morse code. Deciphering the code will reveal a message written in Belarusian, which translated to English reads:

"DID YOU MISS ME?
GOOD LUCK
JJJU"

JJJU is the signature of Julian Manolov, an engineer at DICE Los Angeles who is responsible for several cryptic and elaborate Easter eggs in Battlefield 4's expansions and maps. This message's placement in a lantern was another clue. If you're playing on an unranked server, two or three randomized lanterns at the base of the temple will be lit every time the round starts. To turn on and off these lanterns, there are seven well-hidden interactive buttons scattered around the map, but which button controls which lanterns also changes every time the round starts. This is a pattern-based logic puzzle (similar to Parker Brothers' Merlin game "Magic Square" or Tiger Electronics' "Lights Out") that requires time and coordination to ensure that you turn on the correct switches to light all the lanterns without leaving any of them off. The solution included in the source of this trivia most likely will not work, as every time the round restarts, a different solution will be generated. Once you finally light all the lanterns, go back to the original pillar, and head to the adjacent pillar facing towards a tree. Within the side of the pillar facing the tree branches, a transparent digital keypad can be found. Pushing any button on this keypad will cause the lantern to start flashing an even longer Morse code message that reads:

"WHEN NIGHT FALLS OVER THE OLD FACTORY A SECRET LURKS IN THE OPENNESS OF THE NORTH WOODS
MULTIPLY THE LETTERS OF THE LONGEST WORD AND THE ONE AFTER IT TO FORM THE CODE"

This message directs players to the nighttime variant of the Zavod 311 map introduced in the Night Operations expansion, called Zavod: Graveyard Shift, where there is an old factory in the woods to the north of the map. In this area, you should eventually find a large rock where if you crouch and wait, a low-pitched, slowed down audio message will play that when sped up reveals a recording from the animated webseries "Battlefield Friends" of main character Neebs singing "I Got Little Birdy Legs", which he does whenever he captures an objective. Continuing with the instructions, the longest word in "I Got Little Birdy Legs" is "Little" and the word right after it is "Birdy". Simply multiplying the number of letters in each word together (6 x 5) only gives 30 which is not the correct code. Instead, the solution is to multiply each letter as its numerical value in the alphabet, which will look like this:

(L I T T L E) x (B I R D Y) = ?
(12 x 9 x 20 x 20 x 12 x 5) x (2 x 9 x 18 x 4 x 25) = 83980800000

Inputting the above code back at the keypad pillar in Dragon Valley 2015 will cause the same Morse code lantern to beep twice indicating you entered the correct code, and then starts flashing a third Morse code message at a faster speed than the previous two:

"TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE NOW JOIN A RANKED CONQUEST LARGE GAME,
STAND AT THE WEST SIDE OF THE SHAFT OF THE NORTH-WESTERN
WATER TOWER FOR 2 MINUTES, THEN USE THIS INDIVIDUAL CODE THERE
[the remainder of this message is a one-time use code individually generated for each player, the code featured in the source of this trivia also most likely will not work]..."

Following these instructions at the water tower in Dragon Valley 2015 will cause another small button to appear, which will spawn another keypad on the water tower pillar. Entering the final code will trigger another clip of Neebs from Battlefield Friends screaming that he got "PROMOTED!" After the round ends, go to the Equipment and Customization menu and check your character's Camouflage. At the very bottom of the available camos is a new skin, the DICE LA camo. This is a unique, standout camouflague that was previously only available to employees at DICE LA until this Easter egg was implemented.
Spelunker
2
"Spelunker taishitsu" (Eng: Constitution of a spelunker) is a Japanese idiom referring to someone who is easily injured, commonly used in sports. This originates from Spelunker, which is widely popular in Japan as a "kusoge" (Japanese for "crappy game") specifically for the protagonist's frail nature and sometimes ridiculous death conditions.

1
On October 24, 2023, Nintendo released a list of "Community Guidelines" for eSports events surrounding their games in Europe and Japan - these rules received major backlash from competitive Smash and Splatoon players and were theorized as being intended to directly stifle Nintendo's competitive communities. With particular criticism going towards:

• Enforcing a maximum player count of 200 per day for in-person tournaments
• Enforcing a cash prize maximum at £9,000 / €10,000 and prohibiting sponsors from funding events
• pre-Switch games (particularly Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros.) not being available for licensing
• Not allowing titles from Nintendo's games to be used in branding, even including shortened variants such as "Splat" or "Smash".
• Banning modified, emulated, or fan-made games - the prior two being essential parts of modern day competitive Melee.
• Food, drink, and merchandise sale being banned from venues
• Arguably most damningly, requiring official licensing for smaller-scale high school charity events.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder
2
Attachment When Prince Florian was first revealed in the June 2023 Nintendo Direct for the game, some fans believed that he was either a callback or reimagining of Prince Haru, a character that only appeared in the 1986 anime film "Super Mario Bros: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach" who transforms from a dog known as Kibidango into a human. This prospect was seen as troubling by Mario fans who partake in shipping, with some believing that Mario and Peach would be retconned as no longer being romantically interested, with Florian taking Mario's place as Peach's boyfriend, as Haru was in the movie.

Upon the game's release, Florian would not show any romantic interest in Peach, nor transform into a human, with their only similarities being that they are princes of flower kingdoms and Florian's facial structure baring a loose resemblance to that of Kibidango.

On June 9, 2022, a fan animation was uploaded to YouTube by FlippinDingDong, depicting a tape recording of a fictional 1990s Saturday morning cartoon series based on the Gex franchise that aired on Toon Disney. The video reuses Gex's one-liners and music from the original games. The animation went viral and FlippinDingDong would later be commissioned by Square Enix to animate the reveal trailer for Gex Trilogy.

Attachment When Sonic Prime was released on Netflix, GameFam Studios, the development team behind Sonic Speed Simulator, inserted officially-licensed Sonic Prime product placement into their other games on Roblox - however, this included the unauthorized Friday Night Funkin' fangame Funky Friday, which they would not legally be allowed to make paid content or promotions in.

Friday Night Funkin' creator ninja_muffin99 has expressed interest in taking legal action against GameFam and Sega, though later specified that it would not be through a lawsuit. It is unknown if any legal action has or will be taken.

Postal 2
1
For the 20th anniversary of Postal 2's original release, Running With Scissors partnered with the modder Piotr "ManChrzan" Sztukowski, who previously ported some of the famous Postal 2 mods to the newest version, to bring his huge enhancement mod xPatch to the Steam version as a free update.
Postal 2
1
Before Postal 2 would come out on Steam, Running With Scissors contacted a few mod makers to add some of their bug fixes, game modes and even weapons to the game. Some of the added content includes guns from Eternal Damnation: A Postal 2 Total Conversion that turned the base game into more into a horror game, and added the fan favorite mod A Week in Paradise. Running With Scissors would gradually hire five employees, including the developers of the aforementioned mods, who had a history with modding Postal games.

Donkey Kong 5: The Journey of Over Time and Space
1
There exists 5 versions of Donkey Kong 5: The Journey of Over Time and Space:

• The original version featuring Donkey Kong
Harry Boy and the Chamber of Secrets, featuring characters from Harry Potter
2003 Digitmon Sapphire featuring Digimon and Bubble Bobble characters
Super Marrio Sunshine, which is identical to Over Time and Space aside from a different title screen and an added glitch, still featuring Donkey Kong and not Mario
Digit Dinosaur 7: The Adventrue of Devildom which is identical to Digitmon aside from a different title screen, and is theorized to predate it due to having Sintax's copyright info.

Of the 3 main releases, the level layouts are closest to Super Mario Bros. in Digitmon, and least accurate in Harry Boy.

Super Danganronpa Another 2 ~The Moon of Hope and Sun of Despair~
1
The game's developer LINUJ described Sora as an "ambiguous person to call the protagonist", considering Yuki Maeda to be the main character overall. Worrying that people hadn't grown attached to Sora by that point, he intended to change that with Chapter Four by having Sora be a part of the murder plan and causing a reaction in the group once this was revealed: LINUJ specifically described it as an "I believed in this person" type of scenario. The original version of Chapter Four would have had the possibility of Sora's character changing as well. When the chapter was changed during development, this change in character was no longer possible. It's left ambiguous what would have happened to her character had the original version of the chapter been used.
