Demitri's Midnight Bliss attack turns Zangief into "Zangyura-chan, the little tangerine vending Russian girl". The name is based on a typo made by Gamest magazine while they were covering a Street Fighter 2 Turbo location test, stating that "By pressing all kick buttons, Zangyura can do a very quick Super Uriajjō, without collision detection in his legs" (ザンギュラはキックボタン3つ同時押しで足に判定のない、早めの回転のスーパーリアッが出せる。).

The visual design of Zangyura, as well as the fact she sells oranges is based upon Russian cartoon character Čeburaška, who in one film was discovered in a crate full of oranges.

Attachment A feature called "Death Cost" was planned to be added which would have the Captain of the Ferry of the Damned deduct gold from players when they died (excluding when killed in PVP), with the amount dependant on the cause of death. However due to community backlash believing it would discourage new players from playing and simply punish you for dying, the game's executive producer, Joe Neate, told players on Twitter that the feature idea had been dropped.

Outside of Japan, it was renamed "NES Zapper" and redesigned to look like a futuristic gun, rather than a real gun. Then later, another futuristic gun called "Zapper" was dyed orange to tone down the gun look for all versions.
