Kuma's ending in this game is a parody of Paul Phoenix's ending in the first Tekken game.

In Heihachi Mishima's stage, Pagoda Temple, the name of Heihachi's wife, Kazumi, can be seen carved into the floor. With the exception of Tekken: The Motion Picture, her existence in the Tekken universe was not made relevant until Tekken 7, in which she appears as a playable character and her character's lore is expanded upon.
