Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
1
Wola Badiru (also known as Yapico), the voice actor for DJ Cyber, revealed in a tweet that the phrase "HOOOLY" was added near the end of his recording session for the game. He asked the game's director, Dion Koster to add it to "be able to put parts of ourselves in the game... but have it be in tandem with the character."

Talking Tom Cat

The pro version of Talking Tom Cat has an anti-piracy feature - if the game detects that it was pirated, Tom's voice will be so fast that it cannot be comprehended. The free and 2.0 versions of the game do not have this feature.
Smite

1
When Smite launched its Nickelodeon crossover event, multiple characters were not voiced by their original voice actors.

• Invader Zim was voiced by Andrew Russell instead of Richard Horvitz
• Rocko was voiced by Matt Cowlrick instead of Carlos Alazraqui
• Jenny was voiced by Jenny Yokobori instead of Janice Kawaye
• Danny Phantom was voiced by Sean Chiplock instead of David Kaufman
• Powdered Toast Man was voiced by Michael Berger instead of David Kaye, his current voice actor and replacement for the now-deceased Gary Owens.

Zim's original voice actor Richard Steven Horvitz claimed that he was not allowed to reprise the role of Zim due to Hi-Rez Studios refusing to work with union actors, and that he felt insulted by the temporary recast. For Jenny, Rocko, and Zim, this game marked the first time they had been portrayed in English by someone other than their original actor.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
1
Attachment Competitive players of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl nickname Rocko's grounded neutral strong attack, "Scream!", "Joe Biden" after a mondegreen interpreting Rocko's scream of "You're fired!" (a reference to the episode Power Trip, where he gets promoted to the boss of the comic book shop he works at and becomes mad with power) as "Joe Biden!"

NASB community manager Thaddeus Crews responded to a now-deleted tweet about the mondegreen with "canon", and later posted a stock render of Rocko with the caption "Joe Biden".

Super Mario Bros. Wonder
4
One scrapped idea for a Wonder Flower transformation was an eight-heads-tall, life-size, live-action version of Mario that hummed to the background music and exclaimed "Boing" when jumping. This idea was pitched by series composer Koji Kondo, but was scrapped due to it being "hard to see the connection between pre-Wonder effect and during Wonder effect. And it's hard to imagine the gameplay changing much by having Mario turn into a live-action, human proportion version of himself." However, this did end up leading to the Sound Off? badge being created to keep the voice sound effects idea in the game. Incidentally, Kondo provided the voice acting for all of the sound effects included while wearing the badge.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder
2
Attachment In an interview conducted for Nintendo's Ask the Developers blog, designer Koichi Hayashida revealed that producer Takashi Tezuka wanted to implement a live commentary system that would remark on the player's actions and progress, similar to a sports newscaster. Programming director Shiro Mouri elaborated that the idea polarized the development team, who were "evenly split between those in favor and those against," and that the mechanic would've allowed the player to toggle between a standard newscaster voice and a tsundere voice (i.e. a voice which treats the player coldly on the surface but hints at a hidden affection towards them), the latter of which was unexpectedly popular with playtesters.

According to Tezuka, the idea was eventually scrapped due to the impracticality of it, as the mechanic would've required a large amount of work to create different voice variations and have them dynamically respond to the player. Instead, the concept was reconfigured into the Talking Flowers, which Mouri described as "a version of live commentary that fits the world of Mario."

In the PlayStation version, one of Gex's quips is "I guess Bowser's on vacation?", referencing the main antagonist of the Mario franchise. Ironically, this line doesn't appear in the Nintendo 64 version of the game due to many of Gex's lines having to be cut due to storage limitations on N64 cartridges.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder
2
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the first Mario game to feature Kevin Afghani as the voice of both Mario and Luigi, replacing Charles Martinet, who announced his retirement from voice acting and shift to a brand ambassador position earlier in 2023.

While Afghani didn't announce his involvement until October 13, 2023, his presence in the game was leaked two days earlier on 4chan, when an anonymous user datamined a kiosk demo and leaked the game's voice cast, backing this up with images showing parts of the game that hadn't been publicly revealed yet. Because the cast list didn't state the voice actors' roles, users used process of elimination to determine who Mario's voice actor was, incorrectly guessing that it was Mick Wingert after assuming that Afghani was only voicing the Talking Flowers. In a statement sent to IGN, Wingert's agent refuted the claim that he was voicing Mario, and was later revealed to actually be the voice for the Talking Flowers.
Mario Kart 64

In the Japanese version of Mario Kart 64, instead of the announcer and menu options being voiced by Mario they are instead voiced by the same VA who played the announcer in Wave Race 64: John Hulaton.

According to John in an interview with DidYouKnowGaming?, after recording his lines for Wave Race 64 he was handed a slip of paper and was then told to record the lines on it without being told what it was for. These lines ended up being for Mario Kart 64.

John's agent was reportedly very upset, as John was not paid for these lines and on top of that John's name was misspelled as 'John Huraton' in the credits.

The lines John recorded would then later be used in the Japanese and International versions of Mario Kart: Super Circuit, where John remained uncredited.
Nicktoons Racing
2
The character voices in Nicktoons Racing are all existing clips from their shows as opposed to original voice work. However, multiple character voice lines, particularly those of Angelica, Darwin, and Stimpy, have background music or sound effects from the original scenes left intact instead of using the original masters or digitally removing the noise. Additionally, one of Arnold's voice lines is from Harold and one of Tommy's voice lines is from Chuckie.

Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2

TeamFourStar, a YouTube channel that created the Dragon Ball Z Abridged series, said that when they were recording lines for the different voices available for CaC in the game, they "wrote all the attack names" as they were acting. Scott Frerich, better known as KaiserNeko, revealed that one of these attack names, the volleyball technique "Volleyball Fist", was originally going to be called "Dead or Alive Volleyball" named after the series Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball. However, the name was dropped, likely due to the franchise not being owned by Bandai Namco.

Donkey Kong

1
Attachment In 1983, an album was released on vinyl by Kid Stuff Records titled Donkey Kong (alternatively called Donkey Kong Goes Home), retelling the story of the video game of the same name. It is notable for not only potentially being the first time Mario was voiced (having an unknown release date in 1983, which was also the debut year of Saturday Supercade), but also giving Mario a stereotypical Italian accent with an "-a-" verbal tic as opposed to the gruff Italian-American accent that would be used in multimedia projects for the rest of the 80s (including Saturday Supercade), predating Charles Martinet's debut as Mario in Mario Teaches Typing by 8 years. According to Kid Stuff Mario voice actor Pat McBride, the reasoning for this voice direction was

"He was Mario, he had that Italian background, we knew what his occupation was, and we knew he was a really good guy, in my brain, if there were kids in the neighborhood, he’d always pat them on the head and say hi. He’d look out for everyone, so he became the real good guy."

Nintendo never gave the team behind Donkey Kong Goes Home any form of guidance for the project, and did not give any word - positive or negative - about the finished album beyond approving it.
