South Park: Chef's Luv Shack has an unused minigame called WBALL, where the boys would throw water balloons at passerby from a tall building. It exists in the PlayStation version and a prototype of the Dreamcast version, but it is not currently known to be playable.
Space Cadet: 3D Pinball was a demo for a game called Full Tilt! Pinball. Full Tilt! Pinball had two extra boards compared to 3D Pinball, with the main differences in Full Tilt's Space Cadet board specifically being an expanded soundtrack, a more realisitc CGI side-art as opposed to the Buzz Lightyear-esque 2D cartoon art, and a multiball feature.

To save development time and resources, the splash screen artwork for each of the Sailor Senshi superimposes their heads and uniforms onto a nude base model. Despite the clothes obscuring most of the base's body, it is unusually detailed; according to Lynn Okamoto, who designed the game's graphics, this was because the game was planned to feature alternate costumes for the playable cast, such as their civilian clothes and swimsuits.
Because of time constraints, however, this feature was never implemented, with the only remnant being a cheat code that renders the player's character barefoot on the splash screen. The code requires the player to press Down, Down, Down, Right, Right, Right, Up, Up, Up, Left, Left, Left, Up, Down, Right, Left during the sequence when a spotlight moves around a screen and highlights Luna.
In a 2023 leak of unreleased content from different iOS games, an app titled Angry Birds Island - or alternatively Angry Birds Hatchery - was discovered. The prototype was simply a version of the original Angry Birds with two major differences •A mode called "Hatchery", which shows an overworld map of an island with a row at the bottom of toys and furniture •The first two worlds of the original game, but with an option to select from a set of birds, all of which appear to be hybrids of the regular birds This seemingly implies some kind of pet simulator mode with an egg breeding mechanic, not unlike the Chao Gardens from the Sonic Adventure series. It is unknown if this was planned as an update for Angry Birds or a new spin-off.

In late 2023, Yandere Simulator creator YandereDev was accused of grooming a minor after the person in particular revealed several screenshots and audio recordings between them, prompting some of the game's developers and voice actors (including Michaela Laws, the voice of main character Ayano Aishi) to leave the project. Additionally, two games that had previously crossed over with Yandere Simulator announced that they would be severing ties with the game. First, Glowstick Entertainment announced that they would end all future sales of Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals' crossover DLC with Yandere Simulator, as well as officially cancelling Ayano's Lovesick Labyrinth (a planned crossover between Yandere Simulator and Dark Deception, previously shelved). Later, Sad Panda Studios announced that they would be updating Crush Crush in order to replace Ayano (who had been added as a guest character) with an original character named Ayeka.
Muppet RaceMania has unused credits dialogue from Statler and Waldorf, commenting on different names and job titles. This includes Steve and Jamie Riding, two Traveller's Tales employees who were not credited in the final game.
Pregnancy was supposed to be a condition in Theme Hospital. It is somewhat finished and can be restored with modding, but lacks graphics and is referred to as a "disease".
Gold Ranger and Xandred from "Power Rangers Samurai" were originally included in the US version of the game, but were later removed. While never actually confirmed, it's believed to be due to rights issues regarding the Power Rangers franchise.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury has data for an unused Giga Mushroom, which resembles the Mega Mushroom but with a red-yellow color palette and an angry expression with a cross-popping vein, a common anime trope used for anger. It has seven animations, but each one contains no data. Touching it plays the "item into inventory" sound. If Mario touches it, he will become Mega Mario, and if Mega Mario touches it he will become Giga Cat Mario, suggesting it would have been used for Bowser's Fury.

In June 2023, a patch was released that altered and censored elements deemed insensitive and exploitative by Hidden Variable Studios, Future Club, and Autumn Games. This update was widely negatively received by fans and resulted in a review bomb on Steam lasting several days, gradually causing the Recent Reviews quality marker to dip into "Overwhelmingly Negative" until all reviews since the update's release were eventually frozen from the game's overall reception by Steam in response. Many of the fan reviews called the changes both a form of censorship and removal of paid content, and included, but are not limited to:
• The removal of in-universe allusions to real world hate groups and upskirt shots of teenage fighters. • Toning down depictions of racial violence and other sexually suggestive content in the story. • Deleting or altering several illustrations from the guest art gallery. • The removal of several voice lines, most notably the Real Soviet Announcer voice pack due to previous allegations and ongoing lawsuits between Future Club and Mike Zaimont, the pack's voice actor and Skullgirls' former lead designer/programmer. This voice pack's removal especially drew criticism for previously being promoted as a $700,000 stretch goal during the 2013 "Keep Skullgirls Growing" Indiegogo campaign.
Current game director Charley Price stated that the updates were made in order to "reflect the values and broad vision for Skullgirls moving forward".
•The original version with Budweiser branding •The censored "Root Beer Tapper" version, which swaps beer for root beer and changes Tapper from a bartender to a soda jerk •The Japanese release that replaces Budweiser with Japanese alcohol brand Suntory
The Suntory version of the game also carries over minor graphical improvements from the Root Beer version of the game.
In the Game Boy Advance version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, there is an unused minigame that is just a clone of Tapper, with Pumpkin Juice in place of beer.
In early versions of Super Smash Bros. Crusade, one of the playable characters was "Weegee", a parodic version of Luigi originating from the DOS version of Mario is Missing! whose moveset was a composite of different memes from "YouTube Poop" videos. Weegee was removed in version 9.2 in 2018 as the development team did not want to "be the meme game". They believed the game's reputation was becoming overcentralized on the presence of Weegee, and that the character was not of a high enough quality standard to keep around. This decision sparked major backlash from Crusade fans, and ultimately Weegee was reinstated in 2021's version 9.4, with a new moveset comprising of more modern memes.
"I'm the lead Spriter of the project since about halfway through 0.9.1's development (Shantae and Pikachu being my first major projects).
The reasoning behind removing Weegee is because we don't want to be the meme game. We're working hard to make an enjoyable experience, and are working to really up the quality lately. However, this does not mean that we're not open to slightly less orthodox roster decisions. We just don't want a literal meme character is all.
To those who are following the project, we have been working on redoing older content to bring it to a higher quality standard. This does not mean that the game is done expanding. It just means that we have some catching up to do before we can really push forward."
During development of QuackShot, a level was implemented where Donald Duck could club baby seals as enemies. This horrified producers from the Disney side of development, who demanded Sega remove the stage from the final game.
Slap City was originally envisioned as a mini-game in Ittle Dew 2 before being reworked into a full title. The scrapped mini-game had intentionally poor presentation, being locked to 30FPS with interlacing, something that was not retained in Slap City given it's focus on competitive play, and a low-poly style inspired by the original Super Smash Bros. The polygonal alternate form of Fluffy Fields, where the Clone Team is fought in arcade mode, is based on this version of the game.
Atari: 80 Classic Games in One! contains two unused ROMs created to test the emulators used in the compilation. Interestingly, the .txt file that contains the descriptions of all the featured games also has explanations of what these ROMs are, suggesting that they may have at one point been planned to be included as bonus content on the compilation for regular players:
"[colours] What is this? This ROM was created as part of the development process for ^RAtari 80 Classic Games^0[sic]. This ROM was transferred into a genuine first generation Atari 2600 (bought by the lead programmer's family back in 1977!) via a Cuttlecart. It cycles through all the available colours in the Atari 2600 palette, displaying the colour's number as a binary "bar code" at the top. The output of the Atari 2600 was hooked up to a video capture card, and each frame was digitised and its colour ID determined by reading the bar code on the image. All frames of the same colour were then averaged together to get an average "RGB" colour value for that number. This process was used to get accu- rate colour matches with the original Atari 2600. [sound] What is this? This ROM was created as part of the development process for ^RAtari 80 Classic Games^0[sic]. This ROM was transferred into a genuine first gener- ation Atari 2600 (bought by the lead programmer's family back in 1977!) via a Cuttlecart. It plays a sound sequence consisting of a one second low- volume beep, 1 second of silence, and then 4 seconds of a particular Atari 2600 "voice", followed by another 1 second of silence. Each of the available voices is played in turn at a preset frequency. (Once all voices were played, the frequency would change and the process would repeat.) The output was captured via a PC's

sound card and a program found the sound's fundamental pattern. These captures were used to generate accurate sound matches with the Atari 2600.
Note: The left difficulty must be in the B position for the sounds to start."
Lincoln Loud's neutral water gun move "The Splasher" had to be reworked during development; the original version of the move stunned opponents and could be cancelled into most actions in the game. This was a flawed move design however, as players could simply cancel the move into a waveland and then perform it again, making an infinite combo. If this move stayed in, Lincoln would have had to be banned from early competitive play, much as Michelangelo would end up being. In the final game, the water gun pushes opponents and cannot be cancelled.
