Jingle Brawl
3
In Super Fall Brawl, one of the many reskins of Jingle Brawl, the new character was intended to be Sheen Estevez from The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, in promotion for his then-new spin-off series Planet Sheen. However, Sheen was not coded correctly, making him near-impossible to beat in a fight. The game's second update would remove Sheen and his stage completely, and he would never be added back in, making Fall Brawl the only Super Brawl game without any new combatants. Sheen would return in Super Brawl 2, though the House of Pain stage, based on the first episode of Planet Sheen, would be swapped for a Zeenu stage generally based on Planet Sheen instead of a single episode.
Drill Dozer
1
An internal "last updated" date in the files of Drill Dozer shows that the European localizations of the game were finished in 2006, 10 years before their first release on the Wii U Virtual Console.
Drill Dozer
1
Attachment In a Game Freak behind-the-scenes video, an unused design for Jill is shown. This version of the character lacks zippers, has uncurled ponytails that are even bigger than Jill's already large exaggerated hairstyle, wears knee-high heeled boots, has one large pocket on her hoodie-dress instead of two, lacks her drill-shaped hair tuft, wears large white ponytail holders with rabbit ears, and appears to have a single fang and wear long white gloves instead of short yellow gloves.
Somari
1
Attachment Somari contains an unused file for a logo labeled "MARIO", implying that the game may have originally been intended to be posed as a new Mario installment in a similar vein to other bootlegs such as Super Mario Bros. 7: Grand Dad instead of a game starring a new semi-original character.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
1
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl contains multiple unused announcer lines including:

• Several character names (including characters from Rocko's Modern Life and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, which were not represented in the base game)
• Item announcement calls which did not end up being used (despite the narrator having used voice clips relating to the items)
• All of the stage names (notably including alternate names for the Slime Time stage in the form of "Double Dare", "Double Dare Stage", and "Double Dare Extreme")
• Perhaps most interestingly, lines relating to a shop feature where the player could buy outfits, characters, moves, and stages. The reveal press release for All-Star Brawl references the ability to "unlock advanced moves", which may be referring to this scrapped feature.

Shrek SuperSlam
subdirectory_arrow_right Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix (Game)
1
The PlayStation 2 version of Shrek SuperSlam contains the first 885 MB disc image for the PlayStation Portable port of Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix as a dummy file. Oddly, this copy of the game is dated to two days after its original retail release in North America, suggesting that there may have been plans for a cancelled re-release of the game.
Amanda the Adventurer
2
The game features an unused sixth hidden tape called "Herd of Mouth with Wooly the Sheep" that can only be accessed by exploiting the game. However, the tape is entirely comprised of Wooly sitting at a table while occasionally making minor gestures for ten minutes, suggesting that the tape was added purely to mess with exploiters.
Meat Cleaver Mutilator
subdirectory_arrow_right The Riverside Incident (Game)
1
Originally, Puppet Combo was planning on expanding Meat Cleaver Mutilator, but eventually lost interest. They ended up using the new map as part of said expansion for The Riverside Incident.
Crazy Frog Racer
1
Multiple characters from the Game Boy Advance version of Crazy Frog Racer all had their names changed from development to release.

•Mafia Hen was called Mafia Chicken
•Dream Boy was called Manga Boy
•Big Elk was called Elch
•Rasta Dog was called Gangsta Dog
•Toro was called Stier "Maredo"
•Puschel was called Eichhörnchen

Punk Girl and the Crazy Frog were the only characters to keep their names.
The Night Ripper
1
Originally, the premise for the game was that the Night Ripper was going to hunt down Rachel after she witnessed him killing a prostitute. However, while it wasn't outright deleted, this scene was never added to the game.

Annoying Orange: Kitchen Carnage
1
Attachment Annoying Orange: Kitchen Carnage contains files related to toasters and burners, implying that they may have been extra appliances to kill fruit with in the game alongside blenders, cutting boards, and fans.
Courage the Cowardly Dog: Creep TV
1
Courage the Cowardly Dog: Creep TV has secret codes and maps that went undiscovered until 20 years after its release due to a glitch making them inaccessible. The codes include the "daScore" code, which shows a counter of how many ghosts you've zapped, and the "mirage" code, which expands the game map infinitely and allows access to the secret maps. On one of these maps, you can acquire a pair of glasses as an unused item, and another map containing an oasis in the Middle of Nowhere that also has a sign simply reading Eustace's catchphrase, "STUPID DOG!". However, if you use the glasses to read the sign, it will instead say "Wee...amazing! You found it! GOOD DOG!"
Judgment
1
Attachment In the game files exists a beta version of protagonist Takayuki Yagami's design. This design was presumably an alternate plan in case the licensing agreement with Takura Kimura, the actor whose face inspired Yagami's design, runs out, or he gets involved in any kind of controversy.
JumpStart Baby
1
Attachment Inside the files of the 1998 version of JumpStart Baby is a military-themed mission select graphic titled "DEFCON 4: THE ALISA FILES". The origin of this file and how it ended up in a game like JumpStart Baby is unknown.
Omori
1
Within the game's code is a commented-out test string transcribing the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise, a monologue by Chancellor Sheev Palpatine from the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith; the monologue previously became a popular copypasta in the late 2010s, midway through the game's development. By nature, this text cannot be seen in the normal course of play and is only visible through observing the game's data.
amiibo Tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits
1
amiibo Tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits contains two unused ROMs in its code: Mario Bros. for NES and Super Mario All-Stars for SNES. Notably, Super Mario All-Stars never had a Wii U Virtual Console release. (though it was playable on the console through the Wii disc, Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition)
Mr. Gimmick
1
Attachment The original Japanese version of Gimmick contains a unique anti-piracy response where, if the opening cutscene is tampered with, the player will not be able to access the secret final level and it will instead cut to a black screen saying "BLACK HOLE" in reference to the game Atlantis no Nazo. Contrary to popular belief, this was not intended as an anti-piracy method, but rather a failed attempt by game designer Tomomi Sakae to prevent his name from being removed from the opening credits. This trigger was neatly edited around its intended purpose, and was eventually removed in the Scandinavian release of the game, though Sakae's name was reinstated as an unused line of intro text.
Equinox
1
Alan Smithee, a now-discontinued pseudonym used by the Screenwriter's Guild of America for film staff who want to disown a project, has seen use in the gaming industry - the earliest documented use of the name in a video game can be found for the director of Equinox for SNES. The game's real director, John Pickford, explained in 2023 that he went credited as Alan Smithee because he was "pissed" about the large volume of content removed from the final game.
