Attachment Some unused content that was going to be used in the scrapped sequel is still referenced in the final game. The second installment would have had Drew Blanc and Flux Wildly traveling to the "Train of Thought", where they would meet an animated version of Vincent Van Gogh and have an encounter with a nightmarish dentist. In the opening for the first game, Drew receives a phone call reminder to get a dental filling, and a picture of Van Gogh can be seen on the wall in his workspace. Footage of the animated Van Gogh also appears in the official trailer for the game.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Attachment Found within the game's data is an unused room depicting a modern-day bedroom, suggesting that there was supposed to be a cutscene showing the player before getting transported to the past.

Attachment Although the Spiky-eared Pichu obtainable in the Ilex Forest event has a shiny form, this form cannot be obtained in the game itself without hacking.

According to a Japanese promotional tape, earlier versions of some of the special weapons function differently than they do in the final game:
• Star Crash was a single attack that homed in on enemies rather than being used as a shield.
• Gravity Hold stopped time instead of defeating all enemies on screen.
• Gyro Attack did not have a limit and it could be used in multiple directions at once.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Attachment A concept document for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 shows that Knuckles was originally going to be able to walk up walls and ceilings instead of just climbing walls, and break down walls with a whirlwind attack rather than his fists. The McDonald's Happy Meal toy of Knuckles included in their Sonic 3 promotion, which is a wheeled toy that pilots a cloud, may be a leftover of this unused character trait.
Sonic the Hedgehog

Attachment In Sonic the Hedgehog, there is an unused "PRESS START BUTTON" graphic. This would eventually be used in an exclusive revision of the game included in the Sega Top Ten compilation cartridge for Brazil and Asia. This version of the game is otherwise identical to the original release.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl

Attachment 3 items from Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl were removed before the items update: a fart cloud, the Krusty Krab blimp, and a wrench set. The fart cloud and blimp's use are not fully known, but the wrench set would've created a platform like Toph's down special. They were rejected "because they weren't that fun".

In the files of the game, there is content implying two other potential appearances for the Krusty Krab Blimp: a texture for the Kids' Choice Awards blimp, and voice lines from the announcer referencing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' blimp, which is used in April's up special, as an item.

Attachment Jellyfish Fields, Harmonic Convergence, and Duck, Duck, Pie! all have unused early level geometry. These are all loaded in when the final stages are played and are simply hidden from view. Harmonic Convergence is very close to its final form; Jellyfish Fields lacks textures, but it can be seen that it has the sign on the base platform instead of the background; Duck, Duck, Pie! was originally a completely different style of pie that has its filling visible, which was likely changed to prevent depth perception issues.
Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
subdirectory_arrow_right Capcom Fighting Collection (Game)
1
Attachment In Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, Huitzil has a fully-functional standing light kick which was never seen in any of the subsequent games. While the CPU never uses it, this attack can be performed by the player, although its slow startup and short range do not make it very useful. It can't be canceled into specials, nor does it have a rapid-fire capability. When Capcom Fighting Collection allowed Huitzil to be playable by conventional means, his animator Shisui said that this move was "so embarrassing that he wished it had never seen the light of day."

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Attachment In the files of the Donkey Kong Adventure expansion, there are unused files for Rambi the Rhino as a party member, including a model; menu icons; and skills. He would have taken up two spaces on the board and been able to charge through any destructible terrain that enemies are using as cover and destroy it instantly. In the final DLC, Rambi would not appear physically in any form, but would have a gun made in his image. Rambi's model looks closer to his appearance in Rare's Donkey Kong games than his appearance in the Paon and Retro Studios Donkey Kong games, a design change that would also be carried over to Super Nintendo World's iteration of the character after Donkey Kong Adventure's release.

Treasure Master

Attachment According to an unused file in Treasure Master, the game was originally going to have a Pizza Hut sponsorship alongside or before the MTV sponsorship.
South Park: Chef's Luv Shack
1
South Park: Chef's Luv Shack has an unused minigame called WBALL, where the boys would throw water balloons at passerby from a tall building. It exists in the PlayStation version and a prototype of the Dreamcast version, but it is not currently known to be playable.

In the code for the cow stampede mini-game in the PlayStation version of South Park: Chef's Luv Shack, there is text simply reading "this sucks".
Super Donkey
2
While Super Donkey is thought to have ultimately evolved into Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, the project was likely tossed around as a Mario or Zelda game at various points in development.

Various development assets associated with Super Donkey, which were uncovered alongside the prototype in the 2020 Gigaleak, include sprites and animations for Link, Mario, and Donkey Kong; the animation files for Link are dated to fall 1990, while Mario's animation files are dated to winter of that year. Additional files for all three characters span overlapping periods in 1991. Link's sprites and animations indicate that Super Donkey was at one point planned to be a side-scrolling Zelda title similar to Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, while Mario's animations imply that the iteration that starred him and Donkey Kong eventually morphed into the 1994 Game Boy title Donkey Kong.
Tank
1
Attachment According to The Cutting Room Floor, a website devoted to archiving unused content in video games, Tank is the first video game known to have unused content. Specifically, the game's score numbers are stored as one sprite even for double digit numbers, with the numbers going up to 63, despite such a score being impossible in the game due to the game's maximum 120 second timer and invulnerability frames.
Mort the Chicken
2
The game’s files have four .txt files titled DEUTCH.TXT, ENGLISH.TXT, ESPANOL.TXT and FRENCH.TXT, suggesting German, Spanish and French versions were planned for the game. In the end, only an English version exists.
Star Wars: Monopoly

Attachment Star Wars: Monopoly contains a set of two unused lyric music videos, which are both in-jokes welcoming new employees to Artech Studios.

Attachment There is an unused model of the Statue of David by Michelangelo in Squidward's prop set. This was likely intended for his air down strong, where he slams down with a block of marble, referencing the SpongeBob episode "Artist Unknown", where SpongeBob makes the same statue by accident. The model has a clam on its groin as censorship, just like in the original episode, but does not have the nose Squidward places on it.
