The GameCube release contains the SNES game Super Punch-Out!! as a bonus game. Completing the game will unlock Little Mac from Super Punch-Out!! (distinguished by his intro from the ring announcer as being from Tokyo, Japan, whereas the Little Mac in all other entries in the Punch-Out!! series is from the Bronx, New York) as a playable character. Little Mac can also be unlocked by naming a custom boxer "Macman" and saving the end result. This cameo was part of a deal between Nintendo and EA that allowed them to use Nintendo's characters for three of EA's games for the GameCube, the other two being SSX on Tour and NBA Street V3.
When activating the Duke's shop, there is a chance the Duke might quote the Merchant from Resident Evil 4 and say the latter's line "whatta ya buyin'?" and then follow it with a mention that the Merchant is a friend of the Duke's. Additionally, the developers stated that the Merchant was their primary basis for the Duke, furthering the connection between the two venders.
Shortly after the release of the Nintendo Switch version of the game, developer Amir Rajan revealed that by plugging a USB keyboard into the system and typing "~", players could gain access to an interpreter and code editor rooted in the RubyMotion mobile programming language, allowing users to code mobile apps on their Switch. Shortly after this information was shared, Nintendo removed the game from the Switch's eShop. Rajan, initially implementing the code editor to share the joy of coding with players, later expressed regret that he included the feature in the first place due to how he sensationalized it and its simplistic features in that it could only draw lines, squares, and labels, play sound clips from A Dark Room, and detect button presses.
Starting Prologue: World of Chaos and Chapter XVI: Sovereign Power while wearing the Star Mercenary costume, which resembles Fox McCloud from the Star Fox series, will turn Jeanne's jet plane into an Arwing. Wearing the costume during the former chapter will feature Jeanne wearing it as well, with a swapped color palette from green to orange. Wearing it during the latter chapter on top of turning the jet into an Arwing will replace the jet's reticle, weapons and sound effects with those from the Star Fox series including being able to fire Smart Bombs, charged shots, and replacing its Umbra Climax with the Hyper Laser. The cutscene at the end of Verse 2 will also switch the receiver sound effect with that of an Arwing's, as well as add three additional Arwings flying behind Jeanne towards Fimbulventr as a nod to the original four-pilot Star Fox team. Additionally, scanning a Fox or Falco amiibo in the Nintendo Switch version will display a message from Rodin implying that Slippy leant the Arwing to Jeanne.
If Fiona inserts a "SALTATIO" Plate-key into a Golem, it will perform a 15 second Para Para dance, called the "Secret Dance" in the game's soundtrack, after which Fiona will remark "......That got my mind off things. I feel a little better now." before completely restoring all of her stats. "Saltātiō" is a Latin noun meaning "a dance".
An unused song can be found in the data for Dino Crisis 2's demo disc that, although being slightly rearranged, bears an uncanny resemblance to the "Ground Theme" from Super Mario Bros.
In the practice mode variant of the Final Battle stage, a picture of actor and former professional wrestler Mr. T can be found surrounding the stage, taking the place of a painting depicting a person holding a baby in the normal variant of the stage.
If the player detonates explosive gel inside Penguin's vault, the stack of bombs turns into an unused destroyed Titan canister model that appears to have been carried over from Batman: Arkham City, although it is impossible to go back inside the vault to interact with it.
There are certain days coded into the game's files that alter Pokemon spawn rates.
On August 6th, August 9th and September 11th, Pokemon are 10% less likely to spawn in the wild. These dates coincide with the atomic bombings on Japan, and the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States.
On certain major holidays such as Christmas, New Years and Culture Day (November 3rd in Japan), Pokemon are 5% less likely to spawn in the wild possibly to discourage gameplay during holidays.
33 other holiday dates were found to have a 5% increase in wild Pokemon spawns, such as St. Patrick's Day (March 17th), Independence Day (July 4th in the United States), Bank Holiday (August 28th in the UK) and Christmas Eve (December 24th).
During the Plant chapter, several Mo'ai statues can be found in different locations on the Big Shell: • Strut D: Among the scaffolding above the pool. • Shell 1 Core, B2 Computer Room: Underneath the south-western computer desk. • Strut L: In the far corner of the small room behind the windows. • Shell 2 Core, 1F Air Purification Room: In the vents, using the Nikita. • Shell 2 Core, B1 Filtration Chamber No. 1: Underneath the wreckage, underwater. • Shell 2 Core, Locker Room (Where Emma Emmerich is hiding): It's hiding inside the locker (This locker can only be opened in Extreme mode. The Impossible Mission Force’s (IMF) Agent Organizer includes a Remote Control feature that functions as an actual universal remote, utilizing the Game Boy Color's infrared sensor by detecting a remote's signals, which the handheld receives and then functions as the remote itself.
Additionally, the Notebook entries found under Secret Files in the IMF can be printed out when connected to the Game Boy Printer.
Picking up an umbrella and choosing the option to open it will turn the player into an oven for the rest of the game. This is a reference to a common superstition in which opening umbrellas indoors brings bad luck.
In 2021, former Bioware cinematic designer Richard Boisvert posted an easter egg to Reddit that he believed had never been found before. In the Mars mission, if Commander Shepherd walks a specific route through the solar panels at the start, a Mars rover will roll up to Shepherd and nod.
In Cianwood City, if you have only one Pokemon in your team and it does not know Fly or Surf, a generous Trainer in the island's Pokemon Center will give you a Level 15 Tentacool, claiming to have caught too many and was just about to release it before he noticed your situation. This was added to prevent the player from softlocking the game in Cianwood City by giving the player a Pokemon that can learn the Surf HM in order to leave. Additionally, it is possible for the Tentacool given to you to be Shiny.
The order that your rival Brenden or May sends out their Pokémon during battle is determined by which gender they are and, thus forth, is also determined by which gender the player chose for their own character before their adventure started. However, for reasons unknown, this only works if the starter the rival choose was Treecko.
Using Kombat Kodes (six digit numerical codes in sets of three, specified by Mortal Kombat iconographies) on the VS. character screen before a match, several messages can be conjured on screen when the match has begun. Several of these messages are developer messages and references to other games:
•999-999 = Displays a message indicating what version revision is being played. •550-550 = Displays the message: "Go see the Mortal Kombat Live Tour!", advertising the 1995 martial arts theatrical stage show of the same name. •122-221 = Displays the message: "Skunky! - E.F." which assumedly is an inside joke from a developer playing on the "Toasty!" gag by programmer Dan Forden. •987-666 = Displays the message: "Hold flippers during Casino Run". This is a reference to Jack*Bot, an arcade pinball cabinet produced by Williams Entertainment who has worked with Midway on the home console ports of Mortal Kombat titles. •004-400 = Displays the message: "Whatcha gun do? - E.B", a joke message from Ed Boon that possibly pokes fun at the fact of Mortal Kombat being a fighting game.
The Sega Saturn release of the game also features two exclusive developer messages:

Throughout the Jak and Daxter series, a fictional, translatable language appears in a variety of environments known as Precursor. Official guides often included legends that enabled players to translate signs in the open world Haven City and other instances of Precursor, often discovering easter eggs in the process.
For an unknown reason, exclusively to the 2012 PlayStation 3 port of Jak II released in the Jak and Daxter Collection, a particular texture on a barrel of Dark Eco appearing in the Drill Platform stage was altered; originally, in the PlayStation 2 version of the game, the barrel read "Barrel of Eco" in Precursor. In the PlayStation 3 version, the same Precursor text now instead reads "Barrel of Shit", and was possibly changed to mess with anyone diligent enough to translate Precursor in the middle of gameplay.
In the Xbox 360 release of the game, you can turn off a stage's music by playing personal music via the Xbox Guide and then pausing it, allowing for harder-to-hear ambient/field recordings that play in the background of certain stages to be heard. For instance, one spot in the Nighttime Spagonia hub area plays a sound clip of someone whistling while taking a shower; the song being whistled is Sonic Unleashed’s theme song "The World Adventure", and a shortened edit of the same whistling is featured in the first teaser trailer for the game.
Using up more than 8 credits will set the bad ending for the game. While the original Japanese release displays a credits counter on the Continue screen, this is omitted from the North American release. However, the game has a subtle visual indicator on the Continue screen showing which ending you earned. The photograph in the good ending features Kyle and Erin smiling normally; the bad ending alters Erin's face slightly, giving her fangs and a minorly distorted brow to show Kyle has failed and she has become a vampire.
This also affects the Game Over screen when choosing "No" to end that run of the game. When at 8 or less credits, a cutscene will play showing Nosferatu biting into Erin before showing the Game Over screen. When you have more than 8 credits, no cutscene will play as Erin has already become a vampire in the photo, and will cut straight to the Game Over screen. Some time after the game's initial release, cartridges of the game were produced and released in both Japan and North America with the Nosferatu bite scene censored by fading to a white screen just before he bites her and then displaying the Game Over screen.
The game takes place over the course of a day. Whenever Ethan obtains a flask containing a piece of his daughter, the sky changes to reflect the passing of time.
