Wordle
2
On May 9, 2022, some Wordle players were given the answer "Fetus", while others were given "Shine". Fetus had been put on the game's schedule a year before the answer showed up, but was replaced later following the United States Supreme Court overturning of Roe V. Wade, a legal ruling that protected abortion rights. However, come the day when Shine was intended to be answer, the game's amateur coding from before it was bought out by newspaper outlet The New York Times made it difficult to ensure Fetus didn't show up whatsoever.

Suikoden
1
According to Raww Le Klueze, global admin of the Suikosource forums, there is a secret 10th Old Book. There is no known button combination to access it, and acts more like a hidden programmer message with only one page. Translated to English, it reads:

"Nomo Hideo"

Congratulations on
starting the Major
League Baseball
All-Stars Game!"

Hideo Nomo was a Japanese baseball player and a starter in the 1995 Major League All-Stars game in the United States - the same year Suikoden was released in Japan - and is known as the first Japanese citizen to join an American major league team after having played professionally in Japanese major leagues.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
2
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the first game in the "Batman: Arkham" series to not feature Batman as the main protagonist, though he does still appear in the game. At The Game Awards 2022, a trailer for the game was released which ended with a brief tribute to longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy, who passed away on November 10, 2022. Host Geoff Keighley then confirmed that Conroy would be voicing Batman "one final time" in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League; this game being Conroy's final performance as Batman was a major promotional point in online articles. However, on January 30, 2024, days prior to the game's release, IGN reported that there were two additional projects he recorded lines for as Batman prior to his death that would be released posthumously. While one of those projects, "Batman: Caped Crusader", ultimately did not feature Conroy, the other reported project, "Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part 3", was later confirmed to be Conroy's actual final performance as Batman, making his purported last performance in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League false advertising.

Star Fox 64
1
Attachment Titania, being called the "Forbidden Planet", is the only stage in all of Star Fox 64 to not feature any of Andross' forces. Instead, all of the enemies and defense systems, including the boss Goras, are said to be remnants of an ancient alien civilization, with Goras being said to be a bio-weapon the ancient people modified before they went extinct. The official Japanese Star Fox 64 guide (as well as the Star Fox 64 Official Player's Guide) hints that the underwater ruins seen in the oceans of Aquas are connected to the ancient ruins on Titania.

As it did for Bacoon and the underwater ruins of Aquas, the Star Fox 64 Official Player's Guide would expand upon Goras' and Titania's backstory, claiming that it was formerly a green lush planet, and that the ancient people who lived there were an advanced agrarian civilization that would leave behind their harvests at temples that existed in each town to appease Goras. It claims that the civilization was destroyed by an asteroid colliding with Titania, leaving Goras as the only surviving creature on the planet that was now a barren wasteland, and it also claims that it was modified by Andross.

Disney Dreamlight Valley

This game marks the final appearance of Pat Carroll as the voice of Ursula from "The Little Mermaid" (excluding the "Once Upon A Studio" short which used archived audio), as well as her final role in general, as she passed away on July 30, 2022.
Thirsty Suitors
1
Outerloop Games began the development process by selecting three ideas for games to present to others in the video games industry in a pitch deck. The idea that would later became Thirsty Suitors received the most positive attention. Chandana Ekanayake, co-founder and creative director of Outerloop Games, noted that most individuals the game was pitched to were middle-aged white men, prompting him to change the pitching strategy: focusing on the lack of South Asian narratives in games, and highlighting the success of such stories in other media (i.e. the film "Bend it Like Beckham" and the television series "Never Have I Ever").

The Invincible

The game's artstyle was heavily influenced by atompunk aesthetics, particularly the works of Chris Foss, Chesley Bonestell, and Syd Mead. Additionally, the team researched Soviet designs for spaceships, vehicles, and tools to fit the game's retro-futuristic style.
Dottori-kun
subdirectory_arrow_right Head On (Game), Arcade (Platform)
3
Dottori-Kun, a 1991 demake of Sega's 1979 maze game Head-On, was created not to be played, but rather as a legal loophole around Japan's Electrical Appliance and Material Control Law which claimed that all arcade machines must contain a game when sold. Dottori-Kun allowed Sega to sell generic Astro City arcade machines which the arcade owner could swap the contents of at their leisure, and included test features to ensure the machine worked properly before installing a proper game. The game did not support coin insertion, and therefore was not a viable option for arcades even if an owner believed there was an audience for its simplistic gameplay and graphics, leading to the board being scrapped most of the time.
iCarly 2: iJoin the Click

To promote the game's release, a line of six iCarly-themed toys from Playmates with in-game codes for exclusive collectible items was released.
Assassin's Creed Shadows

When it was announced that Jonathon Dumont was working on the game, many Ubisoft Quebec employees reportedly refused to work with him (with some even outright quitting) due to past allegations involving abuse and sexual misconduct. In response, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that they take all allegations "extremely seriously", and that Dumont had been "appropriately disciplined" and cleared to continue working.
Super Mario Sunshine
1
Attachment In Episode 6 of Bianco Hills, the sun in the sky is not present. This may have been an oversight by the developers since the sun is a separate object and not part of the game's skybox.
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
2
While Bumpties can only bump into Yoshi and not hurt him, if Yoshi is hurt by a different enemy or obstacle and a Bumpty is on-screen, it will run to and steal Baby Mario similarly to a Bandit. This is the only game in the Yoshi series where Bumpties are known to behave like this, and is a rare interaction since there are few instances in the game where Bumpties and obstacles are close enough to trigger it.
Star Fox
1
Attachment The English manual for Star Fox infamously states that the Lylat System is located "near the center of the Milky Way galaxy". However, this appears to be a localization quirk on Nintendo of America's part, as the original Japanese manual states that Lylat is located simply "near the center of a vast galaxy".

PaRappa the Rapper co-creator Rodney Greenblatt had a bittersweet response to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, appreciating that PaRappa was in a new title and finding the game fun, but disliking the presence of PaRappa in a battle game with lots of realistic weaponry.

When asked by Kotaku what ghosts taste like in the Pac-Man universe, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 director Kunito Komori answered:

"As far as I know, they taste pretty… bad."

He would then pause, possibly realizing that if the ghosts tasted bad then Pac-Man would be more hesistant to eat them, and changed his answer:

"[Ghosts are] very, very tasty – like fruits."

Marvel's Spider-Man 2
1
In an October 27, 2023 Kinda Funny Games podcast video with the Marvel's Spider-Man series creative director Bryan Intihar, he revealed that the side quest "Make Your Own Choices", where you chase after Black Cat through a series of portals she summons with the Wand of Watoomb, was taken from Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, a game that was also developed by Insomniac Games.

Intihar also stated that he wanted Miles Morales to interact with Black Cat for the side quest instead of Peter Parker, because Peter and Black Cat already interacted with each other a lot, so he tried to give Miles more interactions with her and make her care about Miles.

In a 2012 Iwata Asks discussion, Nintendo president and HAL Laboratory alum Satoru Iwata revealed that HAL's name was intended as a riff on IBM, an American computer company who were omnipresent in the tech industry when HAL was founded in 1980. According to Iwata, the idea was that each of the letters in "HAL" were just before each of the letters in "IBM" in the Latin alphabet, thus conveying the fact that HAL were always "one step ahead of IBM."

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
3
In a 2013 interview with Polygon, director Bryce Holliday revealed that Luigi's portrayal in the game was influenced by the 1990 British comedy series Mr. Bean. The show served as reference material for Luigi's animations and characterization, with Holliday noting parallels between Luigi and the show's title character as a "hapless fool and reluctant hero." Holliday also felt that these similarities would help audiences sympathize with Luigi, which in turn would supplement the comic relief that his reactions and mishaps provide.
The Invincible
1
The Invincible is based on the science fiction novel of the same name by Polish author Stanislaw Lem. The devs chose this novel to adapt because they felt the original novel was "stunningly picturesque", and that "it reads as a ready-made movie script". However, the game is not a direct adaptation of the novel; while the story is largely the same and features several returning characters, the game's main cast (including the main protagonist) are original.
