Pressing X or triangle on the loading screen will produce burping and farting noises.

This game was originally going to be developed by Traveler's Tales Oxford (developers of Crash Twinsanity), and was actually going to be called 'Crash Clash Racing.' It had the same concept as the final game; fusing two cars together. According to one of the project's developers going by the alias FakeNina:

A member of the Crash Mania community called JumpButton was the first person to e-mail Darren Esau, who had left his e-mail address in Dr. Cortex and N. Gin's credit comments (available to listen only in the NTSC version). Darren Esau jokingly stated in his reply that "[JumpButton] disproved his theory that the only people who read video game credits are the developers themselves."

The box arts of Japanese Crash Bandicoot localizations have historically used a redesign for Crash with larger eyes. This has been done for all games except for the "Titans" sub-series, which had its own distinct Crash design, and the Toys for Bob-developed games.

However, the only games that feature the design in-game for the Japanese localizations are the Japanese-developed Crash Boom Bang!, and Crash Tag Team Racing, which had a skin system that allowed Japanese Crash to appear abroad as well. A good chunk of Crash's costumes in Crash Tag Team Racing also got Japanese versions, though these combination costumes were not included in the Western release.

In Crash Tag Team Racing, Crash of the Titans and Crash: Mind Over Mutant, Crunch Bandicoot's personality is modeled after actor and wrestler Mr. T, frequently giving thinly-veiled advice and mimicking a similar cadence to him. In Tag Team Racing, Crunch even has an alternate costume mimicking Mr. T's appearance named "Mr. Crunch".

Every single song in the Crash Twinsanity soundtrack was composed fully a cappella, regardless of its genre or tone, with no instrumental backing, using human voices for every single instrument. The scat group behind Twinsanity's score, Spiralmouth, would return for Crash Tag Team Racing, but the tracks in Tag Team Racing had proper instrumentals with a capella vocals.

In Crash Tag Team Racing and Crash: Mind Over Mutant, Coco Bandicoot makes several references to Jewish-American culture in her voice lines. In Crash Tag Team Racing, five of her lines include Yiddish words:

• "Ah, bupkis.", the latter word ("באבקעס") meaning "nothing".
• "Schmuck!", ("שמאָק") an insult used to call a person stupid and is also a vulgar term for a penis.
• "I don't wanna kvetch, but what just happened?"; "kvetch" ("קוועטש") meaning to complain.
• "I'm so happy I could plotz!", the latter word ("פּלאַצן") meaning to collapse from exhaustion or burst with emotion.
• "Lousy goyim!", the latter being the plural for goy ("גוי"), a derogatory slur aimed at a gentile (a non-Jewish person).
• Coco also has a line where she screams "Serenity now!", a reference to the episode of the same name from the TV series Seinfeld, a show rooted in New York City's Jewish-American subculture.

One of these lines was re-recorded for Crash: Mind Over Mutant, where if Crash strikes Coco enough times, she will call him a "lousy goyim". There is also unused dialogue in the game's files referencing the Seinfeld episode "The Strike", where she will say "And now, the feats of strength!" and "Festivus!"

Coco's voice actress in both games, Debi Derryberry, is of Hungarian-Jewish descent and was raised in a Jewish household, while both games credit the same writer, Chris Mitchell. It's not known if these lines were written to intentionally identify the character as Jewish, or if they were ad-libbed by Derryberry as an in-joke, although Coco also has lines in both games where she interjects by shouting "Derryberries!".
