In Crash Tag Team Racing, Crash of the Titans and Crash: Mind Over Mutant, Crunch Bandicoot's personality is modeled after actor and wrestler Mr. T, frequently giving thinly-veiled advice and mimicking a similar cadence to him. In Tag Team Racing, Crunch even has an alternate costume mimicking Mr. T's appearance named "Mr. Crunch".

In Crash Tag Team Racing and Crash: Mind Over Mutant, Coco Bandicoot makes several references to Jewish-American culture in her voice lines. In Crash Tag Team Racing, five of her lines include Yiddish words:

• "Ah, bupkis.", the latter word ("באבקעס") meaning "nothing".
• "Schmuck!", ("שמאָק") an insult used to call a person stupid and is also a vulgar term for a penis.
• "I don't wanna kvetch, but what just happened?"; "kvetch" ("קוועטש") meaning to complain.
• "I'm so happy I could plotz!", the latter word ("פּלאַצן") meaning to collapse from exhaustion or burst with emotion.
• "Lousy goyim!", the latter being the plural for goy ("גוי"), a derogatory slur aimed at a gentile (a non-Jewish person).
• Coco also has a line where she screams "Serenity now!", a reference to the episode of the same name from the TV series Seinfeld, a show rooted in New York City's Jewish-American subculture.

One of these lines was re-recorded for Crash: Mind Over Mutant, where if Crash strikes Coco enough times, she will call him a "lousy goyim". There is also unused dialogue in the game's files referencing the Seinfeld episode "The Strike", where she will say "And now, the feats of strength!" and "Festivus!"

Coco's voice actress in both games, Debi Derryberry, is of Hungarian-Jewish descent and was raised in a Jewish household, while both games credit the same writer, Chris Mitchell. It's not known if these lines were written to intentionally identify the character as Jewish, or if they were ad-libbed by Derryberry as an in-joke, although Coco also has lines in both games where she interjects by shouting "Derryberries!".
