The bit Generations series was intended to be released in North America under the title "Digiluxe", as shown by assorted ESRB ratings for the games Boundish, Dotstream, Soundvoyager, and Coloris, the latter going by the localized name Chromatron. The Digiluxe name was used for the bit Generations stickers in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and due to the lack of information given in the ESRB ratings, Coloris can only be singled out as the identity of Chromatron with the name given to the sticker in Brawl.

Because of the unusually large amount of data included in a single game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl became the first Wii title to be released on a dual-layer disc. Unfortunately, the large amount of data caused some early Wii models to read the disc more frequently than their drives could reliably handle when the game was released in 2008, resulting in disc read errors for some players. This issue occurred because certain early Wii units had contaminated or dusty disc-reading lenses, which affected the system's ability to properly read dual-layer discs. To address the problem, Nintendo offered to repair affected consoles free of charge. Players could send their systems to Nintendo's official repair service, where the disc lens would be cleaned or replaced at no cost.
