Attachment The theme music of the RoboCop game from Ocean Software was later reused in a commercial for Ariston washing machines in the United Kingdom. It was then covered by YouTuber CBoyardee for the animation Dilbert 3. This cover version was then later sampled in a song by Lil B (AKA Based God) called "In Down Bad".
Sid Meier's Civilization
subdirectory_arrow_right Sid Meier's Civilization II (Game), Sid Meier (Franchise)
1
Attachment In 2012, TV Tropes user Tunafish edited the site's page for the Civilization series to claim that Gandhi can become the most aggressive character in the original game due to a rollover error. World leaders' aggression levels drop by two points upon adopting democracy; because Gandhi's aggression is set to 1, the lowest possible value, the pacification allegedly lowers it to -1, which defaults to 255, the highest possible value.

Despite the edit not providing any evidence, the claim nonetheless circulated online in subsequent years. Because leaders will vehemently pursue a nuclear weapons policy when their aggression is high enough, the claim spawned the "Nuclear Gandhi" meme among Civilization fans, poking fun at the apparent dissonance between the real Gandhi's pacifism and his fictional counterpart's apocalyptic jingoism. A KnowYourMeme page on the memes further distorted the rumors by claiming that the bug first appeared in Civilization II rather than the first game; as of March 2024, the page now acknowledges that the rumors are false.

The Nuclear Gandhi claim was eventually debunked by series creator Sid Meier in his 2020 autobiography, Sid Meier's Memoir!: A Life in Computer Games. In the book, Meier revealed that Civilization and Civilization II are respectively programmed in C and C++, which are immune to the kinds of rollover errors that the urban legend describes. Consequently, Gandhi's aggression level remains at 1 after the adoption of democracy. Nevertheless, Meier admitted that he found the memes surrounding the urban legend funny.

The description for the Dudebro Smith says "Dude! Do you even smith bro?". This is a reference to the "Do you even lift bro?" meme.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time
1
Attachment During the level "A Hole in Space", if you collect all 18 Bumpa Berries while riding the grind rail, you will be rewarded with a visual effect of a group of low-poly Crash Bandicoot/Coco models screaming "Woah!"/"Yeah!" respectively, while also earning the achievement "WHOA YEAH!". This is a reference to a CG animation created by Chris Patstone and based on an audio clip voice acted by animator Chris O'Neill which became a meme in 2017. The in-game reference uses individual frames of the same model of Crash featured in the original video, but O'Neill's voice is dubbed over. The Coco model is used from a pre-existing variant on the meme created by animator Zellphie.

The Flintstones
1
Attachment The Flintstones on SNES contains a music track titled "Unused Song 2", a somber and atmospheric track known for being completely inappropriate for the game's tone and source material that was only accessible through the sound test. The song was not originally written for The Flintstones, but rather as a test track for Ocean's MEdit software by composer Dean Evans. It ended up in the game as filler for the sake of using up excess cartridge space, and was not at any point supposed to be used in game as anything other than a sound test track.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
1
Attachment At one point in the game's development, SpongeBob's strong dash attack was intended to involve him running with scissors. This was vetoed by Nickelodeon, with community manager Thaddeus Crews suggesting that Nickelodeon may not have wanted a character many children view as a role model partaking in an easily-imitable dangerous activity. The scissors exist in the game files, attached to SpongeBob's model, but in an untextured form with no bones for snipping.

In the final game, SpongeBob's strong dash attack was a slip and fall based on a single frame from the episode "Krabs à la Mode" that became a meme.

Meme Run
subdirectory_arrow_right Bigley's Revenge (Game)
3
Attachment While most of the memes featured in Meme Run are well-known mainstream memes that were already quite storied by the time of the game's release, one meme included in the game is much more obscure. "Bigley" is a mosquito-like parody of Ridley from the Metroid series meant to mock fierce fandom debates over whether the latter character was "too big" to feasibly include in the Super Smash Bros. franchise. This character was hugely popular within the Miiverse community, and was often considered a mascot for the community during its heyday. However, Meme Run and its sequel Bigley's Revenge were the only footprint Bigley managed to impart outside of the Miiverse community, with the meme being so obscure that its article was rejected from Know Your Meme.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl

Attachment The inclusion of Hugh Neutron in the game as DLC, particularly instead of his son and series main protagonist Jimmy Neutron, was a response to an ironic internet campaign to get the character in the game known as "Hugh Nation", led by Hugh voice actor Mark DeCarlo and YouTubers The Superverse and Uncle Al, following Hugh trending on Twitter due to memes related to the game's reveal. When Hugh performs his strafe taunt in the game, he can say the voice lines "Hello internet!", "Thank you internet!" and "Hugh Nation!", referencing this push. The showcase for Hugh's moveset, which was aired at EVO 2022, mentions Hugh being included as a "thank you" to the devoted Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl community.

Attachment Inside the code of Antonball Deluxe are two graphics related to "Big Chungus", a popular screenshot from the 1941 Looney Tunes cartoon "Wabbit Twouble" - one of Big Chungus himself in the Antonball art style, and another depicting Anton with the body proportions of Big Chungus. These sprites were used for a placeholder object that no longer exists in the final game.

Attachment The title card for the "Gnome Forest" level became the subject of the "Lario" meme, which features an edited version of the card with the word "Lario" above the characters' heads as a mash-up of "Sneaky Snitch" by Kevin MacLeod and "Superstar" by Young Thug. This meme would go on to be referenced within Pizza Tower itself, with Gnome Forest's secret music being renamed "Everybody Wants To Be A Secret" after the meme became popular.

This game is a reskin of one of Scott Cawthon's older games, "There is no Pause Button!" The only changes are the Freddy head on the blue avatar, and only the arcade mode is playable, giving the player 99 lives instead of the normal 999 or 50 lives, depending on difficulty.
