Compared to the Nintendo 64 version of Conker's Bad Fur Day, the Xbox remake carries a rating descriptor of "Use of Drugs and Alcohol". Besides alcohol frequently being used throughout the game, drug use only appears once in the remake during Poo Cabin, after beating Bugger Lugs. After activating a context-sensitive pad to unlock the ability to swim underwater, Conker will take "confidence pills", with the label "CONFIDENCE" plastered over text that says "GET [illegible] FAST", implying that confidence pills are steroids. This visual gag does not appear in the Nintendo 64 version of the game.

In the playable demo included in the demo disc, when one of the Squirrel High Command soldiers is being electrocuted, Conker can be seen reading a gaming magazine with Master Chief from the Halo series on the front cover and the Killer Instinct logo on the back. In the final version of the game, these covers were replaced with the game's box art on the back, and a different magazine cover featuring Berri. According to director Chris Seavor, executives from Bungie requested that a Halo ring hidden in the multiplayer map Three Towers be changed as they did not originally seek permission to use them; this cameo was presumably changed for the same reasons.

According to software engineer Chris Marlow in regards to the parodies featured within Conker's Bad Fur Day, the development team never asked permission when spoofing famous movies. Nintendo's legal team reassured them that as long as their caricatures fell under parody law, they didn't need a license for it. When it came around to remaking the game for Conker: Live & Reloaded, Microsoft's legal team told them that the original content brought over to the remake was protected under prior art patent law, but they couldn't add new content expanding on those parodies as it would mean they modified the original content and would potentially open up Microsoft to litigation.

A promotional e-mail from Conker the Squirrel in 2004 to promote the release of Conker: Live & Reloaded has him talking about his career. When talking about his first appearance in 1997’s Diddy Kong Racing, he states:


On May 18, 2012, a Q&A on the Rare Mini-Scribes answered a question about what their beloved characters do when their not in a new game, to which they responded "Where do the characters go between games? Well, they’re all off having crazy adventures too expensive and asset-heavy to adapt into game form … Except for Bumper the badger, who’s in jail."

On October 6, 2021, Rare's official Twitter account provided another update in response to this piece of trivia being headlined on the Super Mario Wiki, stating that Bumper is currently on parole and is "superficially sorry for all those bad things he did."

A new entry in the Conker series called Conker: Gettin' Medieval was at one point planned but never made. The game would've heavily focused on multi-player to the point where it'd be completely online. The game would've been set in Medieval times, with Death serving as the main character and Conker shifting into a guest role. The game's world would've been populated by characters from the Future War scenario in Live & Reloaded, only with their designs altered to become medieval counter-parts.

During development, inside of the machine that fire imps use to operate The Big Big Guy, there is a "Start Button" with the Microsoft logo, similar to that found in Microsoft's operating system, Microsoft Windows. It is unknown why this was removed from the final release.

The developers wanted to replace Burt the metal crate, who guards the cheese pen, with a gate named Bill who would complain about how all the windows on his barn were broken and wouldn't work and how the barn kept crashing, but the game's publisher, Microsoft, wouldn't let them.

The remake of Conker's Bad Fur Day was originally called "Conker: Live and Uncut", as the dialogue was originally planned to be completely uncensored unlike the original game. However, the game received heavy oversight from Microsoft during development, who wanted to sell the remake to large retailers and push the Xbox towards a more family-friendly market. As a result, all of the censored dialogue from the original game remained, while even minor obscenities which were uncensored in the original release were now censored in the remake. The "potty mouth" setting that uncensors dialogue in the multiplayer portion of the game unlocks upon completing the main campaign, and was left in as an incentive for players to keep playing the game.

In the original game, if you stand idle for a while, Conker will get out his Game Boy and play it. You don't get to play with it, but you can hear him playing Killer Instinct, another game made by Rare. In the game's remake, the console is replaced by a handheld console resembling the Game Boy Advance SP, where he can again be heard playing Killer Instinct. This idle animation was disabled in the Rare Replay release of the original game in 2015.
