Heavy D! is inspired by the SNK boxing game Main Event. He was named after the American rap artist of the same name from the rap group Heavy D & The Boyz. However, to avoid any possible copyright issues, they added an exclamation point at the end.

His pet cat, Puu, was also named after one of the developer's cats.

Crash Bandicoot: Warped

Remaining idlr on the game's title screen will cause a Demonstration Mode to play. When the third Demo plays, if the player holds down triangle as the screen fades to black, they can then control Coco during her flying stage. Should the player then pause and select the Warp Room option as if to exit a level early, they will skip the introduction cutscene and immediately begin a new game with all five power ups unlocked from the start.

It is unknown if this is an elaborate hidden cheat, a potential debug function Naughty Dog utilized during development, or just simply an mistake within the game's code.

Alternatively, completing the "level" as normal will spit Crash back out into Warp Room 4. Due to the gate being locked without standard progression the player is now stuck, only able to access those five respective levels.

In the PAL version, this same feature is performed with Start instead of Triangle.

Attachment In an interview with series producer Koji Igarashi, found within the Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow's official Japanese strategy guide, he was asked about the character's name Soma Cruz. He said that he wanted a name which would translate well for international players, and that "Cruz" was chosen as Penelope Cruz had just visited Japan, while the name also had associations with the word "Cross". Soma was taken from the name of the Indian ritual drink "soma", while it is also the name of director Murakami's son.

Aria of Sorrow direct Junishi Murakami said this was just a coincidence however, as the kanji of both names differs. When he first saw the name, he disagreed with the idea, but Igarashi simply couldn't think of anything else.
Bubble Bobble
2
In an interview with the game's designer, Fukio Mitsuji, found within BEEP! magazine, he was asked about how he began making Bubble Bobble. He responded that after creating a racing game and a shooting game, he wanted to make something more comical. He believes Bubble Bobble was a game that he put the most thought into, losing sleep whilst thinking of how to improve it. He considers it a deep and memorable game within his life.

"Well, I’d done a racing game now, and a shooting game, so now I thought I’d try my hand at a comical game! And that game was Bubble Bobble."

"How could I, practically speaking, improve and iterate on this new design philosophy of mine? I was always thinking about that question. On Bubble Bobble I worked hard to really push my ideas to the limits. In that sense, Bubble Bobble was probably one of the games I put the most thought into—I honestly lost sleep thinking about how to make it better, better, better. For me personally, it’s a very deep, memorable game."

Bandai Namco assisted in the development of the game.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
1
The reason for the game's sudden shift from a town to a deserted island was as a result of Animal Crossing's director Aya Kyogoku wanting to bring something completely new to the series. Kyogoku believed that players were "moving to a new location that already existed," and "wanted to giving them a new experience and thought a deserted island would be perfect."

Within the games files exists four unused fighting styles. Two of them are prototype movesets for Lizardman and Revenant and the other two have no specific character attached to them. When hacked into the game, Lizardman's is only one that is usable, however it is incomplete and glitchy. The other three cannot be used and will cause the game to crash when the player is attacked.

One style has the character riding what appears to be an invisible horse. It is speculated that this style might have been meant for the Calvary unit in the Chronicle of Swords mode.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
1
According to Hideo Kojima in the documentary Metal Gear Saga Vol. 1, the game's original setting would have revolved around nuclear weapon inspections in Iraq and Iran. The plot of the game involved Solid Snake stopping the new Metal Gear while it was located on an aircraft carrier within a certain time limit. "Liquid Snake" and his group were supposed to be defeated by Snake, which would imply that Liquid would have faked his death from FOXDIE in "Metal Gear Solid (1998)". However, after working on the project for 6 months, tensions began to rise in the Middle East, so the team decided to scrap it in order to avoid controvesy. The final result of this original plot we relegated to the game's opening, involving "The Tanker".

Giga Bowser's design was inspired by Sakurai's vision of how Bowser looked before Super Mario 64.

"The old Bowser was scary. In the NES era, characters were more symbolic, so you had room to use your imagination. When I looked at the original Bowser, I saw a frenzied, terrifying monster.

But, advancements in technology have allowed designers to convey characters in greater detail, and in recent games his image has steadily become cuter.

Naturally, this is a current game, so it needs to use his current design. And from there, Giga Bowser (unexpectedly?) happened to come into existence."

Attachment There is an unused version of the song Lazy Afternoons that's more orchestrated. This is likely an earlier version of the song.
Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex

The original PlayStation 2 version of the game had long load times that averaged around 47 seconds. According to the founder of Traveler's Tales, this was a consequence of a small mini-game intended to be incorporated during development.

Originally, you could move Crash through hyperspace during his falling animation and collect Wumpa Fruit. Any Wumpa Fruit collected would be added to your totals when the level loaded.

Due to a fraudulent patent Namco had over loading screen mini-games beginning with Tekken's PlayStation port, it had to be removed. However, time constraints meant Traveler's Tales could not fix these loading times before release. The Greatest Hits re-release shrunk the loading times down to a mere 17 seconds.
Cuphead
1
Attachment Found within the game's files is an unused title theme for Cuphead with lyrics. This may have been composed during early stages of the game's development, as the lyrics describe a completely different plot from what was featured in the final game.
