Attachment A glitch in the PAL version of the game allows the player to back out of the language selection screen using the triangle button, causing no language to be selected. This turns most text into a series of slashes and hyphens.

This glitch, for some reason, also causes a number of the bosses heads (except for Ripper Roo), to be switched.

• Komodo Joe will have Oxide's head.
• Papu Papu will have Pinstripe's head.
• Pinstripe will have Komodo Joe's head.
• Oxide has will have Papu's head.

The voice over commentary for the game was supplied by the respective TV commentators for the US, UK and Dutch releases of the game. Jonathan Pearce's voice was used for the UK release, Stefan Frank supplied the commentary for the US, and Rob Kamphues supplied commentary for the Dutch release.

However if the player names their profile "JPEARCE", referencing the UK commentator, the player will receive 999,999 credits and everything will be unlocked. This cheat code remained unchanged in other regions.

The Davy Back Fight was changed in the American release to have the Black Cat Pirates hosting it instead of the Foxy Pirates. Itomimizu was replaced with Jango for all audio sections, and the Sexy Foxy ship seen in the background of the mini games was changed to the Bezan Black ship. However, Chuchun and generic Foxy Pirates can still be seen within the minigames.

The music that plays in the Café area are the songs that Miis can learn in the Japan-only Nintendo DS installment "Tomodachi Collection". In the Japanese version of the game, lyrics (taken directly from "Tomodachi Collection") can be heard during each song. In the international versions of the game, the instrumentals for each song were kept, but lyrics were removed.

However in the international version, the red circle was replaced with a green check mark, possibly to not confuse the player whenever they performed a correct action. In Japan, a circle is used in the same manner as a tick is in the west. This change is also present in Kirby's Return to Dream Land.

In the North American version, the Mario Kart Shy Guy trophy states that he made his racing debut in Mario Kart 7. This technically is false, as Shy Guy could be played in Mario Kart DS, but only in Download Play for players who didn't own the game. This was fixed in the UK version by stating he was first selectable in Mario Kart 7.

Before the game was released internationally, many international players thought that a patch in the Japanese version fixed a glitch that had unintentionally made gay marriages possible for Miis, causing fans to complain about this feature being removed, while in actuality, Nintendo was simply fixing a data transfer issue that corrupted save data and prevented people from progressing after they transferred Mii characters from the Japan-only Nintendo DS installment "Tomodachi Collection".

Gay marriages are able to be performed in Tomodachi Life due to the ability to create Miis that have the appearance of Miis of the opposite gender. While many have complained of the inability to have same gender relationships in Tomodachi Life, Nintendo has refrained from including the feature, explaining that the game is not to be looked at as though it is a "simulation" of real life.
