Attachment The in-game hat item "The Tavish DeGroot Experience" is a direct reference to Jimi Hendrix. It is named after his band, "The Jimi Hendrix Experience", and is a similar style to the hat that he was often seen wearing. The item's description is also a reference to Hendrix's first single, "Hey Joe", and reads "Hey, Joe, where you going with that sticky launcher in your hand?".

Super Mario Sunshine
1
Attachment In Noki Bay, once inside the bottle in the Red Coins in a Bottle level, Mario should fall to the bottom of the bottle and then locate a small rock formation there. If Mario maneuvers into a small square opening towards the back right of the rock formation, he can find a small door inside the opening which is impossible to open. Therefore, the player must rotate the camera to see what is on the other side of the door. In doing so, Mario can see a brown book on the floor of the room behind the impassable door, though its purpose is unknown.

The book itself may be a reference (or vice versa) to the level's background music. In the Original soundtrack, the title of the level's theme is in fact "The Book in the Bottle". It's also been said that this mission was originally different, and that Mario would collect the book rather than 8 red coins.

Attachment In Banjo-Tooie at Jolly Roger's Tavern, you can find a man by the name of Captain Blackeye. He repeatedly states "Once, I had a dream..." and tells of a bear who stole his glory. This is a reference to Project Dream, the first version of Banjo-Kazooie. He was meant to be the main antagonist of the game.

Diablo III
1
Attachment There is a secret level in Diablo III titled "Whimsyshire," a complete turn from the game's typical story and theme by putting you in a cartoony bright wonderland with rainbows and unicorns. The level changes health orbs to be pink cupcakes, and the map will appear to a similar design as a child's blanket.

It is intended to be a secret area, similar to the Secret Cow Level in Diablo II, however unlike the Cow level, it is hard to make a huge profit from the items and gold dropped. It was likely put in as a joke, because many people felt that Diablo III's early graphics were too bright and cartoony.

There is a random chance for a unicorn to spawn with one of these names: "Rainbow Western," "Midnight Sparkle," "Nightmarity" and "Nightmare is Magic," each of these are references to the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magics characters names.
