Revelations: Persona
1
All of the main characters (with the exception of Mark) had their names changed when brought to the Western market. This was done to make the game more open to Western audiences.
• Maki - Mary
• Kei Nanjo - Nate Trinity
• Yuka Ayase - Alana
• Eriko Kirishima - Ellen
• Reiji Kido - Chris

Rather than changing Mark's name, he was instead changed into an African American.
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
1
Some changes were made to Otacon's lab concerning objects lying around. Originally the anime poster on the wall was of Hideo Kojima's earlier game "Policenauts", which is changed in subsequent versions to a poster of "Zone of the Enders 2" and the Playstation lying on a desk is changed to a Gamecube with a Wavebird controller.

Two statues of Mario and Yoshi were also added. Shooting the Mario trophy plays the original 1-UP sound from the NES classic and restores a bit of Snake's health, while shooting Yoshi just makes Yoshi do his famous "Yoshi!" squeak.
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
1
Attachment Tiny Tiger was originally named Taz Tiger, since it was based off the extinct animal Thylacine, better known as the Tasmanian Tiger. His name was change possibly because it was to avoid any legal issues with Warner Bros., since there was another character that goes by the name of Taz, the Tasmanian Devil.

In the North American release, when you pause the game in the middle of Tiny's boss fight. His name reads Taz Tiger. This was a mistake Naughty Dog left behind and it was fixed in the European release.
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
1
Attachment Rayman wasn't the only one whose color was changed to the Japanese version of the game. Sssssam the watersnake went from purple to green, Jano's hat became red, and Ly the fairy's design changed completely: her eyes were rounder, her pupils were bigger and a lighter shade of green in color, she was given thin eyebrows the same color as her hair, instead of green lips, they were now pink, and her clothes also became purple and white.
Revelations: Persona
subdirectory_arrow_right Shin Megami Tensei: Persona (Game)
1
A large portion of the game was removed from the North American version. Known as the Snow Queen Quest, this version of the game leads to an alternate ending. It was re-added in the PSP version of the game.
Wave Race 64
1
Attachment In the Virtual Console rerelease, all the in-game advertisements for Kawasaki and Fanta were changed to Wii and DS Lite banners, most likely due to the product licenses having expired.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
1
The arch at the entrance to Romani Ranch is actually the same arch at the entrance to Kakariko Village from Ocarina of Time. Even the text on the sign is re-used, effectively saying "Welcome to Kakariko Village" in both games. This is more noticable in the Japanese version, which features the text in Japanese instead of the localized version's Hylian text. The Hylian text still translates to "Welcome to Kakariko Village", though.
Persona 2: Innocent Sin
1
Persona 2 was split into two games, Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. However, America and Europe only got Eternal Punishment. There are some theories as to why Innocent Sin was not released over seas, but the real reason is unknown and the updated PSP remake of both games did make it to America and Europe.
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
1
Margret's last name does not appear (outside of the credits) in the American release of the game. Her listing is just simply titled "Margret" and when she dies the screen just simply states "Margret is Dead". This is quite strange as every other release of the game states her full name, Margret Moonlight, much like Alice Moonlight.
This was proven to be a dubbing error as Alice's real last name was Twilight and is corrected in all other releases.
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
1
There are three versions of Nocturne in Japan.
• The original version, which was only released in Japan.
• The second version called Nocturne Maniax, which is the same as the one released in the United States, updated with the optional Labyrinth of Amala dungeon, true demon ending and Dante from the Devil May Cry series.
• The third one, which again was only released in Japan in 2008 called Nocturne Maniax Chronicle Edition. This version removed Dante and replaced him with Raidou Kuzunoha from the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner series in his place. Raiduo, who is silent speaks through his cat, Gouto.
ActRaiser
1
The North American and European versions of Actraiser are significantly easier than the original Japanese version. There are less enemy encounters in both the action and simulation portions of the game. Moreover, the action sequences have less traps.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
1
In the original version of Metroid Prime 3, Admiral Dane shouts, "Damn! They're targeting the planetary-defense system." The word "Damn" was replaced with "No" in the Metroid Prime Trilogy though, likely to remove a possible swear word from the game.

Silent Hill HD Collection
1
Attachment Unlike most HD Collections and HD Remasters of games, Silent Hill HD Collection made a number of changes to the core game, including the following from Silent Hill 2:

• The street and sidewalks textures have been changed to look much cleaner.
• The video tape in one of the game's cutscenes is now bordered by a TV screen rather than showing up full-screen.
• The cutscenes are stretched horizontally to appear as widescreen.
• The distances on the sign at the beginning have been altered.

These changes are most likely made because the team was working with unfinished code and had to recreate much of the game.
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
1
In Abe's Oddysee, the race of the Mudokons had 4 fingers, however, in the Japanese release of Abe's Oddysee, and all releases of Abe's Exodus, the Mudokons only have 3 fingers. This is because Japanese see four fingers as an insult to the "meat packing sub class" of the past and is similar to the Jews wearing gold stars during World War II. Oddworld Inhabitants saw it as extortion and removed the 4 fingered design in every subsequent release of the series.
Ghouls 'n Ghosts
subdirectory_arrow_right Ghouls 'n Ghosts (Game)
1
Attachment In the arcade version the main boss was named Lucifer, while in the console versions he was named Loki. This change was made to reduce the strong religious reference to the biblical Satan.
Bionic Commando
1
Attachment In Japan, the game was titled "Hitler no Fukkatsu: Top Secret" which translates to "The Resurrection of Hitler: Top Secret". The western release was drastically altered to not feature any mention of Nazism with the enemy changed to the "Badds". The leader of the enemy's name was changed from Weizmann to Killt and the final boss who was Hitler revived was named Master-D, however his appearance still remains the same.
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
1
In the western release, the main characters Goemon and Ebisumaru are named Kid Ying and Dr. Yang respectively, a possible reference to the Yin-Yang, a symbol which represents seemingly opposite or contrary forces. English translations of later installments retain the character's original names.
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
1
Attachment In the Nintendo 64 version, entering the passcode "CHICKEN" will allow the player to pilot an AT-ST in a special bonus level. However in the PC release, entering the passcode will allow the player to pilot the Walker in any of the game's missions.
Minecraft
1
Attachment Gears were a type of block that were available in Indev 0.31 which could be used in a similar way to redstone. They could only be placed on the side of blocks, and were never available in the release versions. In earlier builds players could hack the game to make them accessible, but the files were removed in later updates.
