Throughout the series, including the anime, Dante is impaled by his own sword at least once in each installment, with the only exception being Devil May Cry 2.
• In Devil May Cry, Trish uses the Force Edge to pin him down, and later on, Alastor stabs him.
• In Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, Vergil stabs him with the Rebellion during their first boss battle.
• In Devil May Cry 4, Nero throws Dante into the Sparda statue and pins him to it with the Rebellion.
• In Devil May Cry: The Animated Series, Sid impales him on a cross.
• In Devil May Cry 5, Dante stabs himself with the Rebellion.

While his brother's name comes from Publius Vergilius Maro, who was a classical Roman poet. Dante Alighieri made Virgil his guide through Hell and Purgatory in his Divine Comedy.
