Attachment In the Japanese release of the game, the game's packaging accommodates every disc with it's own slot. However in the European and North American release of the game, the fourth disc is just put in a nub above the instruction manual. This has caused some criticism of Microsoft because it's very easy to cause scratches to the fourth disc.

Attachment When the game was released on the North American PlayStation Store (PSN), it was taken down less than a week later due to reports that Idol Springs and Colossus were not working properly and contained glitches. These glitches included getting trapped in the Idol Statues, and items getting stuck within the levels. The glitches have since been fixed and the game has been re-released.

In the Japanese version of this game, during the opening cutscene after Shadow Mario vanishes from Peach's sight, you can faintly hear Mario saying "Look's like Mario's gonna have to find a job," Toadsworth then asks "Are you starting a new career?" And goes back to to their original conversation. Despite being removed from the International versions, it is spoken in clear English.

Attachment Penta Penguin, a secret character that can be unlocked via a cheat code, was unfinished in the North American release.

One example is one of his power-ups that shows an Uka Uka icon but when activating it, summons protection from Aku Aku; leading to some confusion of whether he's good or evil.

Another example has to do with his voice. Some of the voices are simply sounds Penguins make, but there are two samples that sound more like that of a human talking. This is actually incomplete code that was meant to be removed from the game. The samples are of programmer Gavin James reading the file names "Penguin Yay 1" and "Penguin Yay 2". This was fixed in the European release.
