Franchise: Final Fantasy
1
Attachment In the 1990's, Disney was planning on doing a four issue comic based off of the Final Fantasy series. Most of the cover work was done by Mike Mignola (creator of the Hellboy comics). Only two covers for the proposed comic were drawn. Kurt Busiek, who wrote the comic, explained a bit about working on the comic:

"I didn't actually pitch for the project. I was asked to write it by the editor, either because he liked my work or because I was in the same state as the Square offices or both. So I visited the offices, they loaned me a bunch of stuff, I played the game and wrote up an outline.

It was after that that they told me they liked my outline but they were working on the new iteration of the game, so could I retool that story to be about that? They sent lots of reference on the new game, and there was just no way to do the first outline with characters from the new game, so they paid me a kill fee for the outline and I started from scratch with the new story outline.

The comic was quietly cancelled in 1993 when Disney's Hollywood Comic studio closed its doors.
Dark Cloud 2

In the English releases of the game, every instance of the word "wine" is replaced with "grape juice".
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
1
The game is the first 3D game in the series to include manual jumping, though this feature was first planned for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Liyla and the Shadows of War
1
Liyla and The Shadows of War was originally rejected for iOS devices because Apple didn't think the app's strong political themes would be appropriate in the "Games" category. Apple then suggested that developer Rasheed Abueideh re-categorize the game as a "News" or "Reference" app. Apple rescinded this decision a week later after a public outcry, and the game is now available on iOS devices under the "Games" category.
Pocket Card Jockey
1
In the Japanese version, a button with an image of a whip can be used in the final turn to speed up the horse. In the US version, the image of the whip was replaced with a green "Go!" button. This was likely changed to avoid complaints over animal abuse.

Several of the characters from the series were inspired by characters and concepts from other video game franchises:

• Saori from Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart shares her design inspiration with the recurring enemy Tokemei Sister, as they are both based on the character Shiori Fujisaki from the dating sim Tokimeki Memorial.
• While not exactly similar, Hatsumi Sega from Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls shares part of her design inspiration, Hatsune Miku and the Project Diva series, with the character Tsunemi from Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart.
• B-Sha from Megadimension Neptunia VII shares part of her design inspiration with Lady Wac from Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart, who is based on Pac-Man. She also shares some character traits with Generia G from Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart, whose design is based on the game SD Gundam G Generation.
• S-Sha shares part of her character inspiration with Ein Al from Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart, whose design is based on the Final Fantasy series.
• Estelle's design is based on the Dragon Quest series has an attack that references the classic Dragon Quest battle interface.
• The characters K-Sha and Lid have several references to the Metal Gear franchise.
• K-Sha has an attack inspired by the same game series as Moru, Monster Hunter, and shares design inspirations with Vio and Lee-Fi, who were based off Resident Evil and Street Fighter's Chun-Li, respectively.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
1
In early screenshots of Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Luigi Circuit has larger mountains, more sunflowers, is missing the "Luigi Circuit" sign, and no arrows painted on the road.
Franchise: Tekken
1
Attachment Issue 65 of Electronic Gaming Monthly reveals that Tekken was originally titled "Rave War" during its beta testing. It was later renamed to Tekken when it first came out on arcade machines. Interestingly, some of Lee Chaolan's combos contain "Rave War" in their name, a likely nod to the original title.
Star Fox 64
1
One of Peppy's most well known lines, "Never give up. Trust your instincts.", was added because one of the developers, Mitsuhiro Takano, wasn't very good at the game and wanted to get some encouragement.
Star Fox 64
2
The developers of the game were originally going to have Fox say "I guess it's your turn to be thankful" to make him sound cooler, but felt that the line was too showy for him. They instead gave the phrase to Falco, who says it after saving Fox from an enemy.
F-Zero GX
1
In the Japanese version, if you ask Roger Buster during the post-game interview what he would do with one billion credits of prize money, he will say he would get a nice cold beer. However, if you ask him the same question in the English version, he will instead say he would get a nice cold drink.
Franchise: Banjo & Kazooie
1
During the "Behind the Scenes of Banjo Kazooie" video in Rare Replay, the developers revealed that the decision to do garbled noises for each of the characters rather than full voice acting was due to time constraints, since recording so much dialogue would have greatly increased the development period of the games.
Cloak & Dagger
1
Cloak & Dagger started out as a game called "Agent X". When Atari and the producers of the film Cloak & Dagger learned of each other's projects, they cooperated and the game became a critical part of the film. Dabney Coleman's character in the film, Jack Flack/Agent X, was named as a part of this collaboration.

The game saw a limited arcade release, and a conversion kit was used on various Williams' arcade cabinets to change them to Cloak & Dagger cabinets. The Cloak & Dagger game screens from the movie are mostly from this arcade version, and not the Atari 5200 game console as it would appear in the film. An Atari 5200 version of the game was actually in development, but was never completed due to the gaming crash of 1983. The cartridges in the film are simply other Atari 5200 games with a Cloak & Dagger label on them.
Dynasty Warriors 5
1
Rather than being a historical figure, Xing Cai is an original character created for this game. She is a fictionalized interpretation of Liu Shan's wives, who were Zhang Fei's youngest daughters. Her character is based on Empress Zhang from 14th century historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Rare Replay

Because the game is themed around musical-style theater, three types of songs were originally considered for the game's opening number. The first was based on the concept of the "I Want Song", a type of song in musical theater involving the characters singing about the key motivating desire that will propel everyone (including the audience) through the remainder of the show. The second song involved the characters singing what they would do if they were in the same place together. The third type of song that was actually used in the game involves the characters singing about the game in a narrative-style chorus.
Street Fighter V
1
Attachment Several stage elements as well entire stages themselves were cut completely from the final game. For example, Mike Haggar from the Final Fight series was going to appear on Karin's stage via an elevator that would automatically go up and down, but was cut for being "too random". An example of a stage being cut completely was a military base that contained huge robots and aliens, which was removed for having little to no relation with the storyline.
Platform: Virtual Boy
1
Early iterations of the Virtual Boy also included a gun that could be set on a flat surface, which would project a 3D hologram-like image into the air.
