The team that designed Splatoon is actually taken from the core Animal Crossing team. Around ten of the younger staff within the Animal Crossing team were put together to begin working on Splatoon. They were also joined by the director of the Star Fox 64 3D remake, and one of the directors who worked on Nintendo Land.

Despite not being able to be seen during normal gameplay, the back of the amiibo box in Inkopolis is fully detailed just like a real amiibo box. Not only this, but the text written on the box is written in the same language as that used by the squids. The only way to see this is to glitch out of the Plaza.

They've got long ears that would move when they did, so you could see them moving and when viewed from above, it would be easy to tell which direction they were facing by the direction of the ears."
