Mario Sports Superstars

In Baseball, when stepping on the home plate after getting a home run, Birdo, Daisy, Waluigi, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Metal Mario, and Pink Gold Peach will cheer. The rest of the characters in the game will not do this, suggesting that implementing cheers for every character was overlooked during development.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In the Japanese version, two games featured in the Nintendo Chronicle list are Jump Super Stars and Jump Ultimate Stars, a duology of Smash Bros.-styled fighting games released for the Nintendo DS that serve as crossovers between several Shonen Jump properties. Coincidentally, both games feature Goku from the Dragon Ball series, a highly-requested non-gaming character for the Smash Bros. series.
Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams
1
The name "The Staff of Dreams" may be a play on the idiom "the stuff of dreams," which refers to someone experiencing a moment in life that one can only aspire happening.
Franchise: Mass Effect

Attachment According to Jonathan Cooper, who worked as an animator for the series, inspiration for the close over-the-shoulder camera view for the characters' conversation scenes in Mass Effect and later games came primarily from Ricky Gervais' "The Extras" TV series.

It is possible to get out of bounds in Temperantia into the massive barren wasteland north of the game's map. This giant stretch of land is fully rendered and has collision-detection allowing you to walk as far as you want, but no in-game events happen in this location leaving the reason to why it was included at all unknown.
Collection: Def Jam
1
Rapper DMX, who originally appeared as a playable character in Def Jam: Vendetta, was to return in Def Jam: Fight for NY, but instead opted to not return due to Def Jam Records not paying him enough money for having his likeness used in the first game, making Vendetta his first and only appearance in the series.
Valiant Hearts: The Great War

Because the game takes place during World War I, the development team wanted it to be as historically accurate as possible. They traveled to Western Front trenches in France used by World War I soldiers and talked to locals who lived near the trenches, as well as studied the first-hand accounts of said soldiers and their family members, some of whom were on the development team for this game.

Shortly after the game's release, players discovered a glitch where when a tall hockey player comes into contact with a shorter one, the shorter one will be sent flying into the stadium. Dubbed the "Hercules Check" by fans, EA later replicated it in real life with a YouTube video shortly after it was discovered.

An EA representative explained in the video that the game, as well as the "glitch" itself, was made to bring "authenticity" and "real-time physics" to the game, suggesting that the "glitch" may have been intentional.
Shrek 2
1
Shrek 2 had been previously announced at E3 2003 by TDK, who developed the first few Shrek games. However, when TDK was later acquired by Take-Two Interactive, Activision took over and finished development of said game, and would later go on to develop several more games based on DreamWorks properties.

As of March 2021, there are several mistakes, oversights, and omissions made by the "Move List" section of the pause menu. Some of them are as follows:

•Dr. Mario's Super Jump Punch (his Up Special) is described on his page as "hit[ting] repeatedly". however this is false as Dr. Mario's version hits only once at the start of the attack. Oddly, his base character, Mario, Has his version of the attack hit repeatedly but has a different description of the attack on his own page (the Tips menu corrects this).

•The text on Chrom and Roy's pages describing their counters says that both of the attacks send back the opponents attack "at greater force". However, while this is true in most situations, both counters have a cap of 60% damage that they cannot exceed or a minimum of 9.6% that they cannot go under.

•It says Isabelle's fishing rod grab can throw opponents up, down, or forward, with the menu making no mention of her being able to throw her foes backward with the same attack as well.

•King Dedede's Neutral Special description does not state that it can also automatically reflect projectiles, which is a new feature for the character in this game.

•Being a copy-paste of Simon's text, Richter's Holy Water descriptor states that it takes "fire" damage when his version of the attack actually has the "Aura" effect like Lucario's moves.

When designing the DLC character Steve from Minecraft, most of the game's stages were redesigned to accommodate for his Mine neutral special move which allows him to farm certain materials on stage-specific surfaces to then use to craft stronger weapons. However, not every surface has been programmed to mine the materials expected to appear from the surface Steve is standing on. The most notable example of this occurs on most of the trees in the game, where they can produce Dirt materials instead of Wood.

Before Sword and Shield's release, nearly the entire game was leaked onto a Discord server by four users. The Pokémon Company decided to take action almost a week after the games officially released by filing a lawsuit against those four users. Perkins Coie LLP, the international law firm hired to represent The Pokémon Company during this case, believed that the company was “[harmed and disrupted in] its ability to market Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield” and issued subpoenas to Discord as well as the website 4chan where the leaks were also posted in an effort to try and identify the perpetrators.
Kingdom Hearts II

In areas where non-playable party members are walking around independent of Sora (i.e. the Bamboo Grove for instance), if the player looks at both Donald and Goofy from a distance they will sometimes walk toward each other and have a silent conversation. If Sora gets closer and approaches them, then they stop and focus their attention on him instead.
Resident Evil Village

If Daniella is killed before Cassandra, an event between Lady Dimitrescu and Cassandra will play out in the main hall, where she demands that Cassandra searches for Ethan. If Cassandra is killed before Daniella, a different event will play out with Dimitrescu calling for Cassandra, realizing she is dead, and angrily yelling to Ethan, before storming to the dining room. Shooting at Dimitrescu to catch her attention before she leaves will prompt her to turn and attack Ethan saying "The entire bloodline of House Dimitrescu is done in? By the likes of you!?"
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

According to Sakurai in a Famitsu column, Sephiroth's inclusion as DLC in this game was his attempt to include more villains and/or bosses into the series as fighters, stating that the inclusion of such characters as playable was "rare". For one reason or another, he felt Final Fantasy VII's lead antagonist was an appropriate choice for this. He also stated that his game developing philosophy for these types of characters was that he wanted them to "feel like bosses" when playing as or against them.

The unique new fossil Pokémon of Sword and Shield and their even more unique mix-and-match gimmick are a reference to Paleontological history. Some of the earliest recorded Dinosaur bones and discoveries were found by British scientists (the Galar Region is based on the United Kingdom) and during the earliest discoveries many of those scientists, due to knowledge of these newly-discovered prehistoric beasts being very primitive at the time, did reckless things and made a lot of rather egregious mistakes including taking bones from one species of Dinosaur and applying them to another species' bones, both believing and claiming that they were of the same species. This is reflected in the gimmick where two of the player's fossils are fused into one of four Pokémon that clearly look like the parts used to fuse them do not match to the point that even the Pokédex descriptions seem baffled at their existence and how they are still alive. The scientist in-game who does this is called Cara Liss, or "careless".

In 2003, German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn and German soccer club FC Bayern Munich both successfully sued EA for including Kahn into the game as the goalie for Germany's national soccer team without their permission. This resulted in EA being banned from selling the game in Germany, but allowed Kahn to be represented as the goalie for FC Bayern Munich rather than the national team in all future FIFA games featuring him in a deal EA brokered with the German Football League (Bundesliga). The case marked the first time a professional soccer player filed a suit against his representation in a video game.

Attachment In Huey, Dewey, and Louie's Item Shop in Traverse Town, there is a poster of a steamboat with the caption "RIVER BOAT" in a large cartoony font, possibly as a reference to the 1928 Mickey Mouse short film Steamboat Willie. The art style of the late 1920's black and white Disney cartoons as a whole would be adapted as an explorable area in Kingdom Hearts II called Timeless River.

Sakurai and his team originally had different plans for a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC character. He tried to include Rex as a playable character alongside Pyra, at first thinking of an Ice Climbers-like system where the player would control both characters at the same time, but this ended up presenting programming problems including one involving the game's memory capacity due to the size of the characters. He then had an idea of making Rex a background character whenever Pyra fights, in a similar manner to the Pokémon Trainer. He eventually felt this second method would also be taxing to the game and that fans would not be fond of it anyway so it was scrapped. He then came up with the idea to have Pyra be a transforming character (similar to how Zelda and Shiek were before Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U) with her turning into Mythra and additionally have Rex appear only in taunts, Final Smashes, and other extraneous details involving the characters.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

By March 2019, with just 13.81 million units sold the that time, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had usurped Super Smash Bros. Brawl (if one does not count the different versions of Street Fighter II and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U which Ultimate also surpassed) as the best-selling fighting game of all-time.
