Most of the Honest Hearts Tribals speak a creole language.

The Dead Horses' language is based on German, English, and Navajo, although the morphology of the Navajo is unrecognizable.

The White Legs speak a combination of languages from tourists and locals in a place called Res.

The Sorrows language seems to be a combination of broken English, German, Spanish, and hints of Japanese.

It is said by Joshua Graham in the Honest Hearts DLC that the .45 Auto pistol is based on a nearly 400-year-old design from one of his Mormon ancestors and is the trademark weapon of the New Canaanite tribe. This alludes to the creator of the real-life pistol this gun is based on, the M1911, created by John Moses Browning. Like the New Canaanites, Browning was a member of the Mormon church from Utah.
Mafia II
1
Attachment Mafia II holds the Guinness World Record for the "Most "F" Words in a Video Game". The word is mentioned 397 times throughout different instances of the game. The previous placeholder was The House of the Dead: Overkill which featured 200 instances of the word.

However, considering that Mafia II can take roughly 12 hours to beat while The House of the Dead: Overkill takes roughly 4 hours to beat, the latter game technically has a greater concentration of swears in a shorter amount of time than Mafia II.
Batman: Arkham Origins
1
Attachment The game appears to use multiple instances of graffiti replicated from actual walls of the developers' city: Montreal, Canada. Specifically, it seems to be all tags by one local artist in particular who uses the tag "Sake".

Attachment In honor of the upcoming release of Civilization V, the State Govenor of the North American state Maryland, Martin O'Malley, declared September 21st, 2010 to be 'Sid Meier's Civilization V Day'. Maryland is where the game's development studio, Firaxis Games, is based.

Dead Island

The unlockable skill "Gender Wars" for the character Purna was referred to during development as "Feminist Whore". The original name along with alternate names for some of her other skills, which were "TeamSpirit1Purna", "SharpApprenticePurna" and "FeministWhorePurna", were found in the game's code of the non-retail version which had been accidentally released onto Steam. Techland came out to apologize over the incident and told that the developer responsible for the inappropriate names would "face professional consequences for violating the professional standards and beliefs Techland stands for."

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
1
Major Ivan Raidenovitch Raikov's character is meant to mock MGS2's effeminate protagonist Raiden, who was met with mixed-to-negative criticism among Metal Gear Solid's western fanbase for replacing Solid Snake as the star. Although it isn't explicitly stated, the game heavily implies that Raikov is Colonol Volgin's gay lover.

This plays an important part during a particular scene when Snake is disguised as Raikov in order to infiltrate the Shagohod testing facility. Snake's cover is blown by Volgin who states that he was "waiting for Raikov in his room." Volgin grabs Snakes' crotch twice, thus revealing his identity. Volgin then exclaims "I know the Major better than anyone else." Volgin later beats Naked Snake to a pulp in retribution for Snake "hurting" Raikov.

Several other small hints at Raikov's sexual orientation are present in the game. If the player attempts to distract Raikov with a pornographic magazine, he will only give a brief glance at it and walk away instead of reading through it. Raikov also wears black underwear with a lightning bolt monogrammed on them (seen after stealing his uniform), a reference to Volgin's powers. EVA also drops hints about his homosexuality during a codec call.

MGS3: Subsistence later dropped more clues about Raikov. In the online mode of Subsistence, players can play Raikov, who's special move is a massive crotch grab that renders his opponent stunned. The Secret Theatre film 'Metal Gear Raiden: Snake Eraser' also jokes about Raikov's homosexuality and his purposeful resemblance to Raiden.

Despite being Volgin's male lover, Volgin himself appears to be bisexual, having an abusive relationship with Tatyana. He is a sadist, however, and treats her rather harshly compared to Raikov, whom he adores.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
1
Attachment In the mission 'Madd Dogg's Ryhmes', one of the security guards playing a video game (possibly DRIV3R) says, "This sucks, I mean, how could Refractions mess up so bad? You suck Tanner!" This is actually an Easter egg mocking the game DRIV3R, which some consider to be a Grand Theft Auto clone; the main character's name is Tanner, and the game is made by "Reflections".
Doctor Who: Return to Earth
1
Attachment Sam Kent-Smith, one of the 3D Artists for the game, is the son of actor Sylvester McCoy, who had played the Seventh incarnation of the main character 'the Doctor' in the television series Doctor Who (which the game is based on) from 1987 to 1989 and in 1996.
