Collection: Rock Band
1
When Harmonix was secretly developing the Rock Band Network (a network that allows artists to make their music playable in Rock Band games), they gave it the unofficial code name "Rock Band: Nickelback" to avoid attracting attention, naming it after the post-grunge band of the same name. They thought adding "Nickelback" to the title would deflect any and all curiosity due to the extreme negative reception and disinterest to their music on the Internet, ensuring it wouldn't be leaked.
Pokémon Puzzle League
1
Pokémon Puzzle League is the first Pokémon game to be released exclusively to the Western market, and not in Japan.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
1
Attachment The "Solar Gun" can be obtained by getting all Boss Dolls after defeating the FROGS and BB Beast forms without using lethal weapons. The gun is a direct reference to the Hideo Kojima-produced game Lunar Knights, the fourth game in his Boktai series.

The gun itself is based on Aaron's "Knight" model, and requires the user to charge shots using sunlight, as you would in all Boktai games.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
1
Attachment There are a large number of incomplete and test rooms in the code for The Wind Waker. Among them, there are even completely functional areas which were simply removed from the final game for various reasons. While not accessible via normal means, they can be accessed via cheat devices like Action Replay.
Adventure
2
Attachment There is a hidden room with the words "Created by Warren Robinett" written vertically down the screen. For years, this was thought to be the first Easter egg ever inserted into a game, until an earlier Easter egg was discovered in the 1973 DEC computer game Moonlander.
L.A. Noire
1
Many of the cases in the game are inspired by real-life crimes that occurred in L.A. around 1947.
L.A. Noire
1
Attachment To create a realistic post-war Los Angeles, the developers of the game studied photographs taken from a biplane by Robert Spence in the 1920s.
The developers used the photographs to create traffic patterns and public transport routes in the game, as well as the location and condition of buildings
L.A. Noire
1
L.A. Noire was the first video game to be shown at the Tribeca Film Festival. It was shown as an hour-long film followed by a Q&A session where the audience could ask questions to the developers about the making of the game.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
1
Kojima initially wanted Gray Fox to play the main role in the game, but made the decision to have Raiden take the main role instead. This was to allow the younger members of his team to take control of the game.
Mega Man X5
1
In the North American localization of the game, the 8 Mavericks' names were translated by Alyson Court, voice actress for Claire Redfield in the Resident Evil series. The translated names were based on members of the rock band Guns N' Roses:

Crescent Grizzly -> Grizzly Slash (Saul "Slash" Hudson)
Bolt Kraken -> Squid Adler (Steven Adler)
Shining Hotarunicus -> Izzy Glow (Izzy Stradlin)
Tidal Makkoeen -> Duff McWhalen (Duff McKagen)
Spiral Pegacion -> The Skiver (Michael "High as the Sky" Monroe)
Spike Rosered -> Axle the Red (Axl Rose)
Dark Necrobat -> Dark Dizzy (Dizzy Reed)
Burn Dinorex -> Mattrex (Matt Sorum)
Mega Man X5
1
Attachment In the Japanese version of the game, there were narrator voices for each of the Maverick's names that you would hear during their intro sequence after you selected their stage. These were removed in the US release. In order played, the names are: Tidal Makkoeen, Dark Necrobat, Spike Rosered, Burn Dinorex, Dynamo, Shining Hotarunicus, Spiral Pegasus, Crescent Grizzly, and Bolt Kraken.

Suikoden Tierkreis
2
Attachment There are a number of images from various animes stored amongst the CG artwork for cutscenes in the game's ROM. The featured properties include Spice and Wolf, My Neighbor Totoro, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Azumanga Daioh, Nyorōn! Churuya-san, and Negima! Magister Negi Magi.
Mega Man 2
1
Attachment There is a noticeable difference in music tempo and gameplay speed between the European version of Mega Man 2 and the North American version (the EU version being around 83.3% of the US versions speed.) This is due to conversion issues that occurred during the games localisation from 60Hz (US Standard) to 50Hz (EU Standard). Strangely, Mega Man himself isn't slowed down, making some parts of the game (such as the Metal Man conveyor belts) easier in the EU version of the game.

Earthworm Jim
1
Pausing the game and entering "Y A B B A Y A B" on the SNES version will give a bizarre secret screen dedicated to Nick Jones, one of the game's programmers, telling him that "this is the old cheat code".
Cool Spot
1
Attachment In the European release of Cool Spot, the 7 Up bottle seen in the introduction was changed to be opaque and contain an S.O.S. note. Presumably this was done to make the plastic bottle appear as a glass bottle, and remove all references to 7 Up, who at the time, in Europe, already had another mascot known as Fido Dido.
1
Attachment Known in Japan as the Famicom, it originally came with 2 hardwired controllers attached to the console, with the second controller featuring a microphone, but no start or select buttons.
1
Peter Vesterbacka, the company's chief marketing officer from 2010 to 2016, also had the job title of "Mighty Eagle".
