Collection: Undertale

Attachment According to Toby Fox, Alphys' design in both Undertale and Deltarune was partly inspired by John Egbert from the webcomic Homestuck, which Fox had previously composed music for.

If you turn off the music and select Captain Falcon on the character select screen, an extremely faint grunt obscured by the Announcer saying Captain Falcon's name can be heard. In the game's sound test, audio files can be found with "DEMO" attached at the end of them showing that every character in the game had similar planned sound effects on the character select screen, but only Captain Falcon's sound remains audible. Additionally, in the game's files, animations labeled "Select" and "SelectWait" can be found for every character in the game, many of which were either ripped directly from Super Smash Bros., are unfinished, or were repurposed in the final game. These are all presumably remnants of an earlier version of the character select screen that more closely resembled Super Smash Bros., where the character's in-game models were visible and used special animations and sound effects when selected.

Attachment Within the data for the itch.io Mac 1.00 version of Chapter 2 is an early version of "Faint Courage", written in a lower key and lacking certain instrumental tracks compared to the final arrangement. The filename for this rendition is "audio_menu.ogg", implying that it was originally written for the Chapter 2 main menu before being refitted for the game over screen. The released game instead uses "Faint Glow" (which is replaced with "Before the Story" after completing the chapter), titled "menu.ogg" in the game's files, for the main menu. All other releases and revisions of Chapter 2 remove this unused song from the game's data.

Using the Human Torch's flame powers near Venom will have the latter cower in fear in reference to the symbiote's fear of fire in the comics.

The seemingly unique design for the Belmonts' Vampire Killer whip, with a metal chain, a morning star at the end, and the religious-looking crossguard, is actually very closely taken from two different sources: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and the Pachinko game Castlevania: Erotic Violence.
Shaq-Fu

Attachment According to Thierry Levastre, the game's lead graphic artist, a sequel was in development by Delphine Software, but was soon cancelled due to the poor reception of the first game. Concept art for the game was produced shortly after the game's production was cancelled.
Shaq-Fu

Delphine Software originally pitched the idea of a basketball game to former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal, but O'Neal instead opted to pitch in the idea of a fighting game because he was a fan of Mortal Kombat. Delphine Software developed the video game using rotoscoping technology by filming Shaq and the stuntmen, then redesigning them to appear as characters in the game. A kung fu expert was then hired by Delphine Software to direct the action sequences to make the fighting aspects look more realistic.

A Sega CD version of the game was at one point in development and was planned to be published by ReadySoft, but was soon cancelled due to the game being released on the Sega Saturn instead, despite the fact that the cancelled Sega CD version was still advertised in gaming magazines.

According to the game's main designer/planner Takane Ohkubo in a 2013 ROM Cassette Disc in MELDAC liner notes, he was asked why he chose the game to be available on the Famicom console. He responded:

"It was mostly a business decision. We talked about developing it for the PC Engine too, but the only system we had the skills to develop a game for right away was the Famicom. We had some extremely talented people on our team. Our programmer Hiramatsu was a real wizard: he had once created a ROM Emulator from spare parts he bought at Akihabara."

Attachment As revealed in development files uncovered by the Video Game History Foundation, the woman in Summers who sells Magic Cakes was originally intended to be a masseuse whose oil massages could induce relaxing dreams. This would've more readily explained why Ness and company's first use of her services results in the odd transition into Poo's training in Dalaam, in which the screen turns pinkish-purple and distorts before fading to black.

On Twitter, Toby Fox revealed that he didn't know how people would receive the character of Spamton, and he even thought that he would be negatively received. His fears were exacerbated after the character got a disdainful and disgusted reaction from test players. However Spamton, nonetheless, turned out to be popular with fans and even garnered his own cult following with the massive sales and popularity of his merchandise not being able to meet demand at times.

The different musical themes of the Wii and its applications, such as the Mii Channel and Wii Shop Channel, were written by Nintendo's in-house Music Producer Kazumi Totaka, who is responsible for numerous game themes and scores to some of Nintendo's most celebrated IPs and who is also responsible for the reccurring "Totaka's Song" Easter Eggs hidden in the numerous games he's worked on.

During Game Informer's 166 rapid-fire question interview with Ed Boon about Mortal Kombat 11, it was mentioned that Neo from The Matrix almost became a combatant in Injustice 2 but the deal fell through.
Mortal Kombat
1
According to Ed Boon, Warner Bros. suggested Neo from The Matrix as a guest character for the game but the idea was turned down because the character didn't fit in a game like Mortal Kombat.

"It was more like 'We’d love to do a guest character, who’s available?' And then we would see a list of 10, 15 characters. I remember they brought up Neo. So there were a whole bunch of ones that for business reasons or that creatively we didn’t think they’d fit."

In the livestreamed playthrough of Chapter 1 conducted for Undertale's sixth anniversary, Toby Fox stated that he originally envisioned the game having a greater visual contrast between the Light World and Dark World, with the former looking "drab" and simplistic and the latter having more vibrant, detailed graphics in the vein of Chrono Trigger or Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Similarly, the Light World was at one point planned to be populated entirely by humans, and the Dark World entirely by monsters, with humans turning into monsters when they enter the latter. According to Fox, the idea was removed for "a lot of reasons," most prominently a desire to better distinguish the project from Undertale.

Attachment Within the data for Chapter 2 are unused graphics for an alternate, more detailed version of the scene where Ralsei heals Susie after the first Berdly fight. Among other things, these graphics depict Susie's hand bleeding, deviating from the established portrayal of monsters being made entirely from magic (and consequently lacking blood); it's likely that this contradiction is the reason why the graphics went unused.

According to former Capcom artist Katsuya Akitomo, Capcom had plans to port the game to consoles back in the year 2000, but they were shot down by 20th Century Fox, who stated "that was a good game for its time, but that time has passed".

The game wouldn't recieve a release until 2019, thanks to the Capcom Home Arcade unit.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes

Scrapped character ideas included Silver Surfer (his fighting style — energy blasts & zooming around on his board—didn't mesh well with a fighting game system), Dr. Strange (too similar to Dr. Doom), Mr. Fantastic (his stretching abilities were too hard to draw into sprite form), Daredevil (not compelling as a fighter), Black Widow (Same reason as Daredevil), Hawkeye (Not enough abilities for a moveset) and Scarlet Witch (too overpowered). Dr. Strange, Black Widow and Hawkeye eventually made their way into later games in the series.
