According to the "Chocobo's FF Laboratory" feature published in V Jump in 1993, Faris Scherwiz/Spoiler:Sarisa Tycoon from Final Fantasy V was originally a female gambler named Eva Scherwil. The developers encountered difficulties in making her fit in the game's world and atmosphere, and changed her into a pirate. In a later issue of V Jump, the developers noted Setzer in Final Fantasy 6 evolved from this early Eva concept.

Attachment In an ancient shipwreck in the Sheogorad Region, it's possible to find a book titled "Capn's Guide to the Fishy Stick".

This is a reference to a popular tradition started by forum member "Captain Eldrad" in the official forums years before the release of the game. Older members of the forum used to welcome new members by greeting them and posting an image of a pirate holding a fish stick. The Bethesda developers honored this tradition by putting the book into the game.

The book claims to be the definitive reference to fishy sticks throughout Tamriel, but sadly its contents state that "the pages are so smeared with fishy stick sauce it is impossible to read any of them."

During a quest in Tribunal, the player is asked to make a journalist, Trels Varis, stop printing lies about King Helseth. Once the player tracks him down to his printing offices, he will ask the player what they are doing there. One of the dialogue options is "I'm looking for the Eye of Argonia." This was the name of the planned second Elder Scrolls Adventures game. It was designed but never developed because the previous Elder Scrolls Adventures game, Redguard, had not been successful. If the player pick this option, the journalist compliments them on producing such an "original and entertaining excuse."

A Dreamcast light gun was never released in the USA until Mad Catz developed the Dream Blaster, which was reminiscent of the type 2 phaser found in Star trek. Sega did produce their own official light gun, but it wasn't sold in the United States, possibly because Sega didn't want its name on a gun in light of recent school shootings (the Columbine High School massacre).

Attachment Through hacking, Victini can be made playable in the main storyline. Though it lacks a sleeping animation (Victini will seem to jump between laying down and standing up for the duration of its "sleep"), it has a full move set and range of animations. It was possibly cut from the game's playable roster due to the power of the move Searing Shot, and later re-added as the Victini seen at the V-Wheel in later stages of development.

Mew can appear as a catchable Pokémon in Indigo Plateau once the player has completed the Mewtwo bonus stage twice (it then has a 1/16 chance of being encountered when all three GET lights are lit). However, it can't actually be caught by normal means, because a special routine increments a counter in a RAM address whenever Mew is hit, and each of the 4 steps in the "catch!" sequence requires the player to hit Mew 256 times (for a total of 1024 hits, basically impossible within a two minute timeframe). Mew's Pokédex entry will be unlocked when it is encountered instead of when it is obtained.

When enemies dance in sync with the game's music, Pokeys will swap their spikes for flowers for a brief moment. If a Pokey is eaten with Yoshi during this point in time it will be instantly defeated and the Yoshi will lay an egg containing a power-up. The power-up can range from coins to 1-ups depending on how many segments the Pokey had when it was eaten.
