In the DS, both Japanese versions of the PlayStation and Saturn release, and some PC versions of the first Resident Evil game, the cutscene after encountering the first zombie includes a scene where Kenneth's head falls to the floor and rollls towards the camera. The head scene was removed from the other versions, even though his head is still detached from his body.

In later games containing the same scene, such as Resident Evil (2002) and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Kenneth's head remains attached to his body.

In the Japanese and American versions of the 3DS' "StreetPass Mii Plaza", when attempting to purchase a DLC from a rabbit but then declining to buy it will cause the rabbit to depressively say "Oh, I see...". However, the European version removed the rabbit's depressed response and replaced it with a more neutral "Fair enough!", instead.

This was done to bring it in line with European laws put in place to prevent manipulating children into purchases; "Games should not include practices that are aggressive, or which otherwise have the potential to exploit a child's inherent inexperience, vulnerability or credulity or to place undue influence or pressure on a child to make a purchase."

The original Sengoku BASARA underwent several changes during localization, primarily by removing all references to Japanese history and renaming all of the characters. The title of the game was also changed to "Devil Kings" as a way to draw in fans from the already popular Devil May Cry series.

In the Japanese version of the game's introduction cutscene, Kimberly Fox is seen being captured by a monster and it sticking a tentacle down her throat. This was changed in the international release to adjust the camera angle so that the tentacle isn't seen entering her mouth.

Originally released on the Famicom by TOSE, Jaleco attempted to port Lum no Wedding Bell to arcades, but when they couldn't obtain the copyrights to the Urusei Yatsuma anime, the game was renamed to "Momoko 120%" and original characters were used instead.
Bizarrely, the music in both versions is "Lum's Love Song", the first opening theme to the Urusei Yatsuma anime.

Originally when Kid Dracula is flying in the intro sequence, he will pass a part of a church with a cross on the very top of it and a bell ringing. The tower was altered in the International version to not give any resemblances to religion. Despite this change, you can still hear the bell ringing even though it was removed.

In the Japanese version, when you're done fighting the Nobodies with Axel to get to "The World That Never Was" in "Twilight Town" (3rd visit), there's a cutscene of Axel performing his special move which he looks like he's on fire and after he's done, there's a bit of fire around him. This was removed on all International versions of the game.

In the Japanese version, Boomerang Bros are capable of dropping an item called "Oho Gear". This item raises defense by 28 points and can be equipped to either Mario or Luigi. For unknown reasons, it was removed from all International ports of the game. However, the item can be found in the game's coding and is only obtainable through cheating devices. The item is fully functional in all versions and its description, "Pants with a raging wave print," was translated into multiple languages in the game's original release. This seems to indicate that the Oho Gear was originally meant to be in the game's international releases, but was disabled late in its development.

In the Japanese release, a glitch is present when the player uses the mobile phone before dying from falling into a pit or by touching dangerous surfaces which will cause the game will freeze up. This glitch can also be caused by getting the ability roulette (when one of the other Kirbys uses Magic and the outcome is that everyone gets an ability roulette). This glitch was fixed in the International version.

The Salt Spray Rig map was redesigned between it's reveal at Nintendo's Digital Event at E3 2014 and the game's retail release. The spawn location is lowered, and the area at the far top of the map is a lot bigger than in the final game. A number of other minor changes were also made.

In the original Japanese version of Shenmue II, Yuan was a cross-dressing man. However, Sega of Europe did not find this suitable, so they re-recorded his lines with a female Japanese voice actress and swapped his gender.

Additional lines from other characters were also changed from the Japanese release. Dou Nin originally says "What the hell did you do to my cute love thing?", while in the European release this was changed to "What the hell did you do to my partner?"

Yuan's gender change was kept in the English version of the Xbox release.
