Conker: Live & Reloaded
1
The game was originally called Conker: Live and Uncut. However, during development the game received heavy censorship. Even minor obscenities which were present in the original N64 version were censored.
Final Fantasy VIII
2
The track "Raid on Dollet" was used in the demo, but not in the actual game.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
1
In some early versions of the game red blood can be seen throughout. The color was changed to green in later versions.
Portal
1
Attachment GLaDOS had a few different designs before the final one seen in the game. Earlier designs included a floating brain, a sprawling, spidery mechanism, and an upside-down version of Botticelli's painting "The Birth of Venus" made out of robot parts. The final version was a huge mechanical device with a delicate robotic figure, which shows off her raw power and femininity.
Paper Mario
1
Attachment There was once an "Anger's Power" badge in the beta for Paper Mario. It would cause Mario to gain a dark red tinge of color, and pose angrily. Mario's turn would be controlled automatically in battles, while the partner is controlled by the player. Mario's attack would increase by 2, but is AI neglects common sense, such as jumping on top of spike enemies. The effect is very much similar to the common "Berserk" status of many RPGs.
The Legend of Zelda
1
Attachment In early versions of the game, the old man at the beginning of the game would give you a choice between the boomerang or the wooden sword.
Ninja Gaiden II
1
In Chapter 4: A Captive Goddess, there is a room with some boards on one of the walls. If you slash at the boards, they will fall to reveal a DirectXbox, which is the original design for the Xbox.
Gladius
1
Attachment There is evidence that a sequel was once considered. James Zhang, an artist for Gladius, drew some concept art titled "Gladius 2", copyrighted in 2004, a year after Gladius's release. The art is available on his personal website.
EarthBound
1
Attachment An unused sprite of Mr. Everdred as a ghost is present in the game's ROM. It is assumed that either he was going to be a party member at one point during development (when one of the party members faints, they will appear as a ghost) or Spoiler:when Mr. Everdred was beaten near Jackie's Cafe in Fourside, a ghost would have flown out of his body. Its true purpose has never been confirmed.
Soul Blade
1
The game was originally called Soul Edge. When the game was ported to the PlayStation and brought over to Europe, America, and Australia, the name was changed to avoid copyright complications from Edge Games.
SoulCalibur
1
This is the only game in the Soul Calibur series to not be released on a PlayStation console. A PlayStation version was considered, but the console lacked the processing power to animate Ivy's whip-like sword without distortion problems.
Team Fortress 2
1
Attachment The Pain Train, a melee weapon used by the Soldier and the Demoman, was originally intended for the Pyro.
Silent Hill: Origins
1
In the beta videos and screenshots, the game had an over the shoulder camera, similar to that of Resident Evil 4.
Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
1
The dune-buggy that you use on Tyhrranosis comes from an unused race feature planned for the game. One of the race tracks for the game made it to the art phase before being cut fairly early on. Space combat was also supposed to make a return, but was also ultimately cut.
Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy
1
Matt Damon, who portrayed Jason Bourne in the Bourne films, was originally going to be involved in the game. Damon refused to appear due to creative differences, mainly due to the violence. He had lobbied the game's producers to make the gameplay similar to Myst, instead of a shooter. The producers weren't interested in his suggestion and instead went ahead without using Damon's likeness.
Doritos Crash Course 2
1
Attachment Official screenshots of the game show a Hong Kong level, and certain Fame Star Challenges mention Hong Kong, yet there are no levels or options for Hong Kong within the game.
Twisted Metal: Small Brawl
1
Axel was originally going to have an ending like the rest of the default characters. However, it was removed due to potential offense it may cause to both paraplegics and black people, as it has Calypso picking on the disabled driver. This may have also been the reason that he was changed from a default character to an unlockable one, as he would have been the only one who did not have an ending.
Silent Hill 4: The Room
2
The game started out as a diffrent game called "Room 302." It is unknown what was changed and when the change was made, but it is believed that the Silent Hill name was added to make sure it would sell.
Grand Theft Auto III
1
Attachment There were plans of putting a homeless man named Darkel in the game. His missions were to supposedly have you blow up buildings. He was removed after 9/11 attacks, possibly due to the developers thinking Darkel's character was in bad taste. Despite this, Darkel still remains listed in the manual credits and his character remains in the game's data.

Rockstar claimed that Darkel was removed because he did not tonally fit with the rest of the game, and his removal wasn't related to 9/11.
ZombiU
1
Attachment Graffiti on a wall near the Hub depicts a monster with tally marks next to it. The graffiti appears to be similar to the enemies of the game's early development title of "Killer Freaks from Outer Space". This could be a reference to the early enemies of the game, or a leftover piece from that development period.
