Attachment In the Arcade version's Attract Mode, Rain can be seen fighting Shao Khan for about a second. Rain was not a playable character in this version but was added to stir up rumors of his alleged inclusion.

Upon closer inspection it can be noted that Rain's name within his health bar is copy-pasted in a different font than what is standard for character names during matches.

Rumble and Laserbeak can be found as hidden cameos in Chapter II: Defend the Ark, and if they are shot at they will retreat. Additionally, Soundwave can be found the same way, but disguised as a Cybertronian light fixture and he will transform, taunt Optimus, and then retreat if the player focuses their aim on him.

Attachment In the Egyptian-themed levels, there are hieroglyphs of black dogs on the wall that are speculated to represent Morgan T. Dog (now deceased), a pet mascot of Naughty Dog. N. Sane Trilogy kept this reference intact.

In an interview, Naoto Oshima was asked if the blue birds were a direct reference to the game Flicky. Oshima said yes, and also mentioned that he asked game's designer Yoji Ishii's permission to use Flickies in his work.

While in an interview with Valve News Network in February of 2018, Gray Newell (Son of Gabe Newell) revealed that the final boss of Half-Life, the Nihilanth, represented him as a baby, stating "The Final Boss of Half-Life 1 actually the 'giant evil baby monster' is supposed to be me. When my mother was in childbirth they were thinking 'what's something really scary,' and at the time, having a child seemed to be the most scary thing to everyone."

Attachment In 2012, Ken Balough announced that Big the Cat would be retired from the franchise for the time being as they could not find a good use for the character, and all things that they already tried didn't work out for him. This however did not stop Big from making cameo appearances in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, having a trophy in the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. 4, having a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, being playable in the mobile games Sonic Runners and Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, and even making a full appearance in Lego Dimensions and Team Sonic Racing. Big was eventually reintroduced to the mainline Sonic games in Sonic Frontiers.
