Brian's "giant banana guy" disguise is a reference to a gag from the season 4 episode "The Courtship of Stewie's Father", with the costume itself being a reference to a meme based on the song "Peanut Butter & Jelly" by the Miami bass group Buckwheat Boyz. The song is also featured in the game.

Throughout the game, Peter Griffin suffers multiple blunt force trauma injuries to his head, causing him to adopt various alter egos that reference different episodes of the show:

• When Peter visits Cheesie Charlie's, he is knocked to the ground by an opening door as a black family leaves the restaurant. This transforms him into Rufus Griffin, a blaxploitation actor who originates from a cutaway gag in the season 2 episode "If I'm Dyin' I'm Lyin'". Rufus is established in the episode to be Peter's black cousin, however in the game his appearance is treated as an alter ego, implying that Peter transformed into a blackface caricature of his cousin.
• When he visits Geronimo's Palace, Peter once again suffers a head injury after a prostitute tries and fails to commit suicide by jumping off the marquee of the casino entrance and lands on top of him. This transforms Peter into a cross-dressing prostitute, referencing a job he attempts to take on during the season 3 episode "Mr. Saturday Knight".
• When he visits Quahog Harbor, Peter suffers yet another head injury after the debris from Bertram's rocket happens to land on top of him. He emerges from the rubble as a "robot ninja" and describes himself as an "Automaton Nuclear Neo-Human Android" named A.N.N.A. This serves as a callback to the season 2 episode "The King is Dead", where Peter dons the persona during his production of the musical "The King and I".

The mind control helmet that Stewie uses throughout the game originates from the Season 2 episode "The Story on Page One".

During the Channel 5 mission, Brian dresses as a cheerleader and performs for a security guard to let him into a building, chanting: "Gimme an F! Gimme a U! Gimme a C! Oh w-wait, wait, we're going for a Teen rating here." Aside from humorously implying that he almost spelled out "fuck", this suggests that the game was originally aiming to receive a Teen rating from the Entertainment Software Ratings Board in North America. The game would instead be released with a Mature rating.

When the game was announced, ports for the Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance were revealed to be planned, but eventually scrapped. The GameCube version went as far to have a store listing with tentative box art on Best Buy's website.
