Guacamelee!
1
A good number of well-known video game characters make appearances, usually by parody or via easter eggs, in the game:

• There are a few Super Mario Bros references. One is a Wrestling event poster with the two brothers as a tag-team, another is an 8-bit Mario from Super Mario Bros for the NES patterned on a wall, and a sequence that ends with dropping a boss into a pit of lava by cutting the bridge off with an axe at the end, ala Super Mario Bros for the NES. The following scene has one of the antagonists telling the main character their "princess is in another castle." Two other more hidden references is the Goby Fish enemy hung up near the fishing town and a portrait of Booster from Super Mario RPG for the SNES.
Donkey Kong appears with his trademark Barrel as a sort of stone pillar
• A statue of the Pokemon Squirtle can be found, standing on top of a stone Pokeball.
• A Luchador-version of Link can be found as a stained glass mural inside a church, as well as a number of posters found across the game. Another reference is an NPC's brother occasionally getting lost, apparently once getting lost in "some country where a kid in a green tunic was trying to stop some pig monster from being resurrected." The NPC's brother can be found, who is named ERROR, in reference to the NPC from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link sharing the same unusual name.
• Mega Man appearas as an 8-bit version of himself patterned on a wall and there is also an advertisement poster for his trademark E-Tank.
• There are a number of statues closely resembling Metroids, as well as "Chozoo" Statues which hold the players new abilities, ala the Chozo Statues from the Metroid series.
• There is a store called Viva Piñatas!, in reference to Rare's 2006 game Viva Piñata.
• A statue of a Cactuar from the Final Fantasy series can be found in the desert.
• A couple of Castlevania references can be found, one of which is a poster of a match between a parodied version of Simon Belmont and Dracula, the other is an etching of a more 8-bit version of Simon Belmont fighting a Skeleton with his whip.
• A Space Invader shaped by moss can be occasionally found in one of the temples.
• A wall etching of Q*bert can be found in a hidden area.
• Outside of the first town, a poster says "El Destructo Vs. La Bomba" can be seen, a reference to gaming websites Destructoid and Giant Bomb, respectively.
• In the desert, there is a poster for Bust-it Bill, a reference to Wreck-It Ralph.
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus

Sly was originally supposed to collect bags of money instead of the coins that appear in the final game. When collected, bills would flutter like butterflies into Sly's bag. The idea was eventually scrapped due to localization problems using green money in different countries.

In stage "Extra 3: More Monkey Madness", a 21st Red Coin can be found. The coin is hidden under a peg occupied by a gray Tap-Tap, with a rotating Paddle-Wheel above it, making it difficult to access. In the Game Boy Advance port, this coin is removed, indicating that it may have been present in the SNES version due to either a glitch or mistake.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies

Attachment Edgeworth's design for the game went through many iterations. In the first design, he had large frills that went down to his thighs. In other designs, he had grown facial hair. In the end, Edgeworth retained an "elegant" look, with rolled back sleeves and vest, and sporting a longer coat and a pair of glasses, appearing more like his father.

Attachment In Edgeworth's original design, he was going to be a 36 year-old veteran prosecutor, but the staff decided that was not interesting enough as a rival. When Shu Takumi saw the second version of the character, he was struck with inspiration and created the back story between him and Wright.

Miles Edgeworth's name may come from "edge of a sword", just like his Japanese surname "Mitsurugi", which contains the kanji for sword. This may be a reference to both Gregory and Miles Edgeworth having sharp minds and being "worthy" opponents for Manfred von Karma and Phoenix Wright, respectively. His first name in Japanese, "Reiji" comes from the kanji for "cleverness".

Maya Fey's Japanese given name, "Mayoi", means "true evening". When written in kana, "mayoi" means "hesitation" or "doubt". The name was apparently picked from a list of kanji that Shu Takumi liked. "Maya" was chosen as her english name because it closely resembles her Japanese name. The name Maya can either come from the Sanskrit for "illusion" or, similarly to her sister Mia's name, as a pet form of "Maria", which is itself the Latin equivalent of "Mary". "Mary" is originally from the Hebrew for "bitterness". This could be a reference to her sister's unpleasant death. Other possible meanings include: "rebelliousness" and "beloved-child".

During production, the name "Souka Naruhodou" (which translates to "Oh, yes, I see now") was suggested as Phoenix Wright's Japanese name, but quickly dismissed. It was decided to settle for just "Naruhodou".

In the Japanese versions of each game, Maya Fey's favorite food is ramen. However, this was changed to burgers in the US releases.

Attachment The main character of the game's Story Mode, "Suicide", was created as an original character for the game by Midway. The character is voiced by Senshi, who also did motion capture for the game. Suicide would later debut as an actual wrestler on December 7, 2008 (3 months after the game's release) at TNA's Final Resolution pay-per-view event.

The village of Arefu is an actual real-world place inside of Romania, most well known for its proximity to the former castle of Vlad III, who is also known as "Dracula" and "Vlad the Impaler." It is also the main stage for the questline "Blood Ties", which deals with a group of cannibals who believe themselves to be vampires. One of the NPCs involved with the questline, Lucy West, is likely based off of Lucy Westenra, a character from Bram Stoker's Dracula.

The group of vampires call themselves, "The Family", are likely a reference to the 1971 Charlton Heston film The Omega Man, featuring a nocturnal breed of pale, vampyric mutants that live underground, referring to themselves as "The Family." Lastly, the password to open a locked-door containing one of the quest-line NPCs is "Vespertilio," which is a genus of the bat family.

Attachment A cafeteria bulletin board found in Vault 101 shows an advertisement for a Bingo Night, with the first prize being "a week's supply of Water Rations."
The "13" bingo-ball on the advertisement strongly suggests a call-back to the original Fallout, which starts out with Vault 13's Water Chip failing and requiring the Vault Dweller to go out and search for a new one.

The intro movie in the original Fallout is shown playing on a television with the label "Radiation King" during the game's opening. The name comes from the Simpsons episode "Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy", in which it shows a television with the same name that Homer Simpson watched from as a boy.

In Fallout 3, Radiation King becomes an established pre-war company, along with with an accessible store-building, that has televisions, radios and jukeboxes on display with the brand names on them.

Attachment In New Reno, there is a Boxing Arena in which the player can participate in Boxing matches. Two NPCs that the player can fight, Evan Holyfeld and Mike "The Masticator", reference the infamous boxing match between Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson in which Mike Tyson bit and tore a chunk of Holyfield's ear.

Evan Holyfeld's dialogue alludes to this as well, and if the player fights and loses to Mike "The Masticator", there is a chance the player will be holding a unique item - their own ear, alongside with a permanent -1 to their Charisma stat.
Kirby's Dream Course

Attachment The Japanese version has an animated introduction that is absent from the international releases of the game, where the story was relegated to the instruction manual, this was cut along with the soundtrack to the intro, several test courses and the debug menu.

This was done to lower production costs, by cutting down the size of the ROM it could be fit onto a cheaper cartridge for the international release.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle

The English translation of the game involves a large number of name changes to many characters as well as stand names for those that have stands, all to avoid any potential lawsuits with musicians/bands. Some examples are the character "Vanilla Ice" being changed to "Cool Ice", Giorno's stand "Gold Experience" was renamed to "Golden Wind" and the character "Jean Pierre Polnareff" was changed to "Jean Pierre Eiffel."

The original Japanese voice acting will still say the original names, despite the subtitle changes.
