In a February 9, 2023 interview with the game's producer Yutaka Fukaya published on the Siliconera website, he was asked how he chose which costumes to include for the cast in the game since the Fatal Frame series is known for its costume selection? He responded that they gathered a wide range of ideas from within the team, picked the best ones, and then producer Fukaya made the final decision. He also stated that there were some that fit the main characters' image and others that would provide a different feel, so they hoped the players would enjoy them all.

In a February 9, 2023 interview with the game's producer Yutaka Fukaya published on the Siliconera website, he was asked when he began working on the game for its worldwide release? He responded that although him and his team started working on the game around the start of 2022, they had the concept well before then.

Fukaya was also asked how difficult it was to get the new ports ready, if any of the ports were easier to create than the others, and what were the unexpected issues that came up during its development? He responded that while it wasn't significantly more difficult than previous titles, the fact that it was a port from the Wii, "a hardware system that is not like any other", was one of the points that required ingenuity. He also said that while it wasn't exactly a difficulty, the team devoted a lot of time, effort and resources to the game's visuals to raise the quality of the game.

Attachment When pausing and then unpausing the game (- button), there is a rare chance that you will trigger a creepy pale face/mask to appear for a brief second. A mask that vaguely bears a resemblance to the one on the title artwork. The first three Project Zero (Fatal Frame) games were known for their idle scares, where you would trigger a creepy effect (i.e bloody hands or a static screen), after leaving the game idle for 5-10 minutes. This Easter egg however triggers at complete random, and you can thus go a whole regular playthrough and not encounter it once.

Attachment This is the series' first game on a Nintendo console, and there are two unlockable costumes based on Nintendo characters. One is Samus' Zero Suit and the other is Luigi's outfit.
