Attachment The game's code still contains a number of debug menus. These menus include a map select that is available while having not started a game. This allows the player to start the game from any point in which they like - it also contains a number of unused areas, including versions of the game shown at press conferences.

While in a game, it's possible to access a menu called the "Burger Menu", giving access to general debugging options, as well as cheat options of spawning items, unlimited ammo, invisibility and immortality. The menu also reads a message in the corner that reads:

This is reinforced through the cap that he wears, which reads "#Chan" - a reference to the collection of image boards, such as 4chan, largely considered the birthplace of the Anonymous group.

Attachment Arie van Bruggen, or "Windmill", has a large quantity of sticky notes plastered around the computer in his hidden room. These are reminders that he has left for himself, including reminders to call his mom and buy some broccoli and lube. On some notes, the ascii face "ಠ⁠_⁠ಠ" and the "Forever Alone" meme face appear.

Attachment As the female Erudite Wizard, if you remove all of her armor except for the top armor at the inventory screen, then unequip it and quickly tap SELECT to exit the screen to return to gameplay, there's a chance for her to appear completely topless for a brief second. When being translated for international release, the development team made several drastic changes to counter the negative reception the game received in Japan. These included allowing Vincent to use attacks while in the air, being able to double-jump, and running 1.2x the speed he originally ran. Additionally, the camera angle in which the game was perceived was changed, in order to make navigation easier.

In the Japanese release, the game featured an online multiplayer mode with several story based missions, which even included cutscenes. This was removed as part of the game being reworked for the western market, though several of the multiplayer missions were made available as extra single player missions, without any story elements.

The International Version, later released in Japan, retains all the changes made to the western releases, but also includes the cutscenes from the multiplayer mode.

One character, Ed Semrad, is actually based on the Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine editor of the same name.

a sentence that uses the word "buffalo" 9 times and is still grammatically correct, a sentence that repeats the word "had" 11 times to illustrate the importance of punctuation, and a Chinese poem that tells a story using a total of 92 words, which are all pronounced in varying tones of "Shi".

Attachment The Nintendo 64 version of the room containing the entrance to The Princess's Secret Slide is still part of the in-game's castle model, complete with a sign and a functional warp to the Secret Slide. The door leading to this room was simply changed to lead to the new version of the room.
