Jaleel White, known for his acting as Steve Urkel in the 90's sitcom "Family Matters", was considered by SEGA to be the voice of Classic Sonic. Jaleel was considered because he had previously voiced Sonic in "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog", "Sonic the Hedgehog" (1993), and "Sonic Underground". Sega ultimately decided against casting Jaleel, resulting in a mute Sonic.

However, the company who made the trailer seem to have overlooked the barcode itself, as scanning the barcode takes viewers to an Amazon listing for a bag specifically designed to store sex toys.

In the final Thieve's Guild quest, you're tasked with a seemingly dangerous escape in which the game recommends you equip the Boots of Springheel Jak (enchanted boots provided by the quest that add 50 to your acrobatics). Doing so will protect you from the fall due to a scripted event but the boots are destroyed in the process. However, should your actual acrobatics skill be high enough and/or you have sufficient health, the fall is easily survived without them and you can keep them permanently if you don't equip them before you jump.

The Gyroids bear a strong resemblance to Haniwa; clay figures made for ritual use and buried with the dead. This explains why Gyroids can only be obtained by digging, and also implies that you have just dug up someone's grave. This likeness is referenced in the Japanese version of Animal Crossing: City Folk, where the auction house owner Lloid is named "Haniwa-Kun".

Released in 2001, but based in 2008, the game's plot revolves around Russian ultra-nationalists attacking 4 countries: Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and most notably Georgia. Oddly, tensions escalated between Russia and Georgie in real life, in 2008.
