Attachment The infamous Missingno glitch can be triggered by the player having Pokemon knowing the moves "Fly" and "Surf", going to Viridian City and triggering the Old Man's catching tutorial. Afterwards the player must Fly immediately to Cinnabar Island and surf along its eastern coastline without moving away from it or back onto the island itself, eventually triggering an encounter with Missingno (Or a similar glitch Pokemon named 'M), after which the item in the player's 6th Item slot will be duplicated to a maximum of 255.

This glitch is triggered by the game's internal data replacing the player's chosen name with the "Old Man" string for the sake of the tutorial and it not being properly replaced by another battle. Whatever letters are used in the player's name will also change what form Missingno will take. For example, a W being used as the 3rd, 5th or 7th letter will trigger the Kabutops Skeleton Form Missingno, an X will trigger the Aerodactyl Skeleton Form and a Y will trigger its Lavender Tower Ghost Form.

Attachment A glitch in the PAL version of the game allows the player to back out of the language selection screen using the triangle button, causing no language to be selected. This turns most text into a series of slashes and hyphens.

This glitch, for some reason, also causes a number of the bosses heads (except for Ripper Roo), to be switched.

• Komodo Joe will have Oxide's head.
• Papu Papu will have Pinstripe's head.
• Pinstripe will have Komodo Joe's head.

Collecting it and flying to the right in the Freezy Flake section of the credits, it's possible to get enough height to bypass the top boundary, thus resulting in a Game Over. The credits will roll, but are invisible behind a black screen.

In stage "Extra 3: More Monkey Madness", a 21st Red Coin can be found. The coin is hidden under a peg occupied by a gray Tap-Tap, with a rotating Paddle-Wheel above it, making it difficult to access. The Spiny eggs are thrown by Lakitu in a simple way, with no horizontal movement whatsoever. However, this is not the intended behavior; it's actually the result of a bug! The eggs are supposed to be thrown out relative to the player's speed, Lakitu's speed, the player's position, and a pseudo-random value, as well as bounce off of any blocks or walls that they hit on the way down.

There is a large, open area, much of which has collision detection added, as well as a stray brown bear that cannot be seen during normal gameplay. There are also two moving taxis here which can be ridden on. There is no opportunity to do this during normal gameplay as all taxis are static once reached normally.

When Terra flies off from Narshe after the battle with Kefka, if the player takes a party of only Gau, then heads to Kohlingen and recruits Shadow, then walks all the way to the Veldt, has Gau use Leap on an enemy, then returns to Narshe with only Shadow, Shadow will leave the party even though he is the only party member. This will cause the game to lock up and leave the player unable to do anything.
